Need help with $12,884 refund freeze on 2024 transcript - codes 810 & 570 showing pending action until March 17th

I filed my 2024 taxes electronically on January 25th and got accepted right away. According to my transcript, I'm supposed to get a refund of $12,884.00, but I'm really worried because there's a refund freeze and additional action pending. I just pulled my Account Transcript from the IRS website today (02-28-2025). My transcript shows: FORM NUMBER: 1040 TAX PERIOD: Dec. 31, 2024 ACCOUNT BALANCE: -$12,884.00 ACCRUED INTEREST: $0.00 AS OF: Mar. 17, 2025 ACCRUED PENALTY: $0.00 AS OF: Mar. 17, 2025 ACCOUNT BALANCE PLUS ACCRUALS: -$12,884.00 ** INFORMATION FROM THE RETURN OR AS ADJUSTED ** EXEMPTIONS: 03 FILING STATUS: Head of Household ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME: $19,581.00 TAXABLE INCOME: $0.00 TAX PER RETURN: $1,745.00 SE TAXABLE INCOME TAXPAYER: $11,403.00 SE TAXABLE INCOME SPOUSE: $0.00 TOTAL SELF EMPLOYMENT TAX: $1,745.00 RETURN DUE DATE OR RETURN RECEIVED DATE (WHICHEVER IS LATER): Apr. 15, 2025 PROCESSING DATE: Mar. 17, 2025 TRANSACTIONS: CODE EXPLANATION OF TRANSACTION | CYCLE | DATE | AMOUNT 150 Tax return filed | 20250905 | 03-17-2025 | $1,745.00 30211-423-23784-5 806 W-2 or 1099 withholding | | 04-15-2025 | -$5,107.00 810 Refund freeze | | 01-31-2025 | $0.00 766 Credit to your account | | 04-15-2025 | -$2,562.00 768 Earned income credit | | 04-15-2025 | -$6,960.00 570 Additional account action pending | | 03-17-2025 | $0.00 I'm really concerned about the code 810 "Refund freeze" from January 31st and the code 570 "Additional account action pending" from March 17th. I don't understand why my refund is being held up. I'm a Head of Household filer with three dependents. My income was around $19,581 with self-employment income of about $11,403. The transcript shows my withholding of $5,107.00, earned income credit of $6,960.00, and another credit of $2,562.00. Everything seems to add up to the refund amount of $12,884.00, but these codes are preventing me from getting my money. I was counting on this refund to catch up on bills that are piling up. Has anyone dealt with these specific codes (810 and 570) before? How long typically does it take to resolve these issues? I've tried calling the IRS multiple times but can't get through to a real person. The processing date shows March 17, 2025 - does that mean I won't see movement until then?

Based on your transcript details, here's what's happening: - Code 810 (Refund Freeze) from January 31st indicates the IRS has temporarily stopped your refund processing - Code 570 (Additional Account Action Pending) from March 17th means they're reviewing something on your return This is fairly common with returns claiming Earned Income Credit ($6,960 in your case). The IRS often does verification checks on EIC claims before releasing refunds. Since your processing date shows March 17th, 2025, that suggests the IRS might complete their review around that time. I'd recommend: • Wait until after March 17th to see if your account updates • Check for any letters from the IRS explaining what they need • If you receive nothing by March 24th, try contacting them I went through something similar last year with an EIC verification. It took about 45 days total, but I eventually got my full refund. The taxr.ai tool was extremely helpful for me to understand my transcript and track my refund progress. It explained all my codes and gave me accurate estimates for when my refund would come through.

Thank you so much for this detailed explanation. Do you know if I should expect a letter from the IRS asking for documentation?

0 coins

You might get a letter (usually a 4464C or 5071C) if they need verification. Not everyone gets one though - sometimes they just review internally. Check your mail carefully the next couple weeks!

What's this taxr.ai thing you mentioned? Would it help me figure out my own situation? I've got similar codes but different dates.

0 coins

Yeah it's been a game changer for me! It basically analyzes your transcript and explains everything in plain English. Shows you exactly what each code means for YOUR specific situation, not just generic info. I've used it for both my federal and state returns this year. You can check it out at https://taxr.ai

Just tried taxr.ai and wow - it actually explained everything clearly! My transcript was driving me crazy for weeks and now I finally understand what's happening. Seriously recommend it to anyone stuck in IRS limbo like me.

Listen, stop wasting time trying to decipher these codes on your own like some kind of detective. I spent WEEKS last year refreshing WMR and staring at my transcript with no answers. The IRS website is practically useless. I finally found taxr.ai and it was insanely good! It analyzed my transcript in seconds and showed me exactly what was happening with my refund - even predicted the exact date it would arrive. I use it every week now to check for updates. Save yourself the headache and just use that instead of trying to piece together random advice from strangers. https://taxr.ai

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

0 coins

It does wayyy more than just read it. It compares your transcript to thousands of others to find patterns and tells you what's actually happening behind the scenes. It pointed out a mistake in my return that even the IRS hadn't noticed yet. Saved me from a potential audit!

Holy crap I just tried this and it's AMAZING! I've been stressing for weeks about my refund and in 2 minutes I had more information than 6 hours of googling. Everyone needs to be using this tool - it's seriously like having an IRS agent explain everything to you. Thank you for sharing this!!

0 coins

Is it safe tho? I'm always nervous about putting my tax info into random websites 👀

0 coins

Totally get the concern! They explain on their site that they use bank-level encryption and don't store your data. Plus you're just uploading a transcript you already downloaded from the IRS, not giving them access to anything directly.

After dealing with a similar situation (my own 570/810 combo from hell), I finally got a real person at the IRS using claimyr.com - it was the best money I've ever spent to finally get my questions answered! The agent explained that my refund was delayed because of income verification but was actually approved while we were on the call. My deposit hit my account 3 days later. Sometimes you just need to talk to a human instead of staring at transcript codes all day.

does that service actually work? seems sketchy

0 coins

I was skeptical too, but it 100% works. I had been trying to reach the IRS for 2 months with no luck. With Claimyr I had a callback from an actual IRS agent within an hour. They got the IRS to call ME instead of me waiting on hold for hours.

0 coins

I need more deets about this... like does it use your personal info or something? How does it even work?

0 coins

It's just a calling service that navigates the IRS phone tree for you and gets you in queue for a callback. No need to give them any tax details. They just connect you directly with the IRS so YOU talk to them yourself. Talking to a real IRS agent saved me weeks of waiting and wondering.

0 coins

Just used Claimyr today and had an IRS agent call me back in 45 minutes!!! After trying for WEEKS on my own. My refund had been stuck in review but the agent released it while I was on the phone. Worth every penny for the peace of mind alone.

Those codes usually mean you're under review for your EIC claim. The IRS is SUPER strict about EIC because of fraud. Since you're self-employed with relatively low income and claiming EIC, that's a common trigger for verification. I had the same issue in 2023 and it took almost 60 days to resolve (pure torture). Hang in there!

You might be caught in the notorious PATH Act delay. Any return with EITC (which you have) can't be released before mid-February by law. But with that 570 code from March, it looks like somethings causing additional delay beyond the normal PATH Act hold. The IRS is absolutely swamped right now so these delays are happening to tons of people.

0 coins

This is the correct answer. PATH Act plus whatever they're reviewing with that 570 code. My bet is they're verifying income or dependent info.

0 coins

I thought the PATH Act delay would be over by now since its late February. Is the March 17 processing date a good sign or bad sign?

0 coins

The PATH Act minimum hold would be over, but the 570 code indicates there's something else they're reviewing now. March 17 processing date means they're actively working on it, which is better than no date at all! They're probably just verifying something specific to your return.

0 coins

I'm in the exact same boat right now. Filed jan 28th, got the 810 and 570 codes too. So frustrating! From what I understand, these are basically "we're looking at your return more carefully" codes. The IRS is being extra vigilant this year with returns that have EIC claims. Let me know if yours updates soon!

0 coins

It's such a relief to hear I'm not alone in this! Have you received any letters from them yet?

0 coins

Got a letter last week (4464C) saying they're reviewing my return and to wait 60 days before contacting them 😫 Pure torture when you're waiting for that money!

0 coins

Speaking from experience... don't count on that money anytime soon. When I had a 570 code last year, it took 4 months to resolve. And that was after sending in documentation THREE seperate times because they kept "losing" it. The IRS is a JOKE.

0 coins

Same here. 570 code turned into a 6 month nightmare. Had to get my congressman involved to finally get it resolved. The IRS is criminally understaffed.

0 coins

Oh no, that sounds awful. I really need this money soon. Did they eventually give you your full refund?

0 coins

Yes, I got the full amount eventually. But honestly the stress wasn't worth it. I changed my withholding so I'll never get a big refund again - rather have the money throughout the year than deal with the IRS holding my money hostage.

0 coins

Check ur mailbox!! They probably sent you a verification letter that you need to respond to. The IRS won't update anything until you verify either identity or income. And they ONLY communicate by mail, its so archaic. If u don't get a letter within 2 weeks, try calling the tax advocate service instead of main IRS number.

0 coins

I work in tax prep and see this constantly with self-employed EIC claims. They're verifying your self-employment income is legitimate. Do you have good records of your business income and expenses? Make sure you can document everything if they ask. 99% of the time with proper documentation, you'll get your full refund - just with a delay.

0 coins

I do have all my invoices and expense receipts saved. Should I send those now or wait for them to ask for them?

0 coins

Definitely wait for them to ask. They may not even need documents - sometimes they verify through other government databases. If they need documentation, they'll send a specific letter telling you exactly what to send and where.

0 coins

OMG I literally just had this EXACT situation resolved yesterday!!! Filed Jan 15th, had 810 and 570 codes, and was losing my mind. The issue was they were verifying my self-employment income since I claimed EIC. I finally got fed up with waiting and used claimyr.com to get a real person on the phone. The agent told me everything was actually approved already but their system hadn't updated. My refund hit my account TODAY! Dont wait weeks like I did - just call them!

0 coins

What's claimyr? Never heard of it before

0 coins

It's a service that gets the IRS to call you back instead of waiting on hold forever. I spent HOURS trying to get through on my own with no luck. With Claimyr I had an IRS agent on the phone in like 45 minutes. Talking to a real person made all the difference - they released my refund while I was on the call!

0 coins

Sounds too good to be true lol. The IRS is impossible to reach.

0 coins

That's exactly why this service exists! They know all the tricks to get through the phone system. It was the only way I could talk to a live agent after weeks of trying. Trust me - if you're stuck in refund limbo, it's worth it to actually talk to someone who can help.

0 coins

I can confirm this works! Used it last month when my refund was stuck for 2 months. The IRS called me back same day and fixed my issue while I was on the phone. My refund was deposited 3 days later.

code 810 = refund freeze code 570 = additional account action pending These are internal review codes. Could be income verification, identity verification, or random selection. The good news is your transcript shows the full refund amount you're expecting, which means they haven't actually adjusted or denied anything yet. It's just on hold pending review.

0 coins

Word of advice - call right at 7am eastern when they open. Keep calling until you get through. I had a similar situation and was able to get it resolved with one phone call once I finally got a human on the line. They told me my return was flagged for review because my income dropped significantly from 2023 to 2024.

0 coins

I had these EXACT same codes last year. The 570 code is the important one - it means they're doing a manual review of some kind. In my case, they were verifying my dependents because someone else had tried to claim my kid. I never got a letter asking for anything, but after about 5 weeks, my transcript updated with a 571 code (which means the review is complete) and my refund was released the following week.

0 coins

That's really helpful. I'll keep an eye out for a 571 code then! Did your WMR tool update during this process or just the transcript?

0 coins

The WMR tool was completely useless - just said "still processing" the entire time. The transcript was the only place I could see actual progress. Check it every Monday and Thursday morning (when they typically update).

0 coins

Does your transcript show code 971? That would indicate they've sent you a notice. If not, they might just be reviewing without needing any additional info from you. Either way, with that 570 code, you're probably looking at least 4-6 weeks from that March 17 date before seeing movement.

0 coins

When I had this problem, nothing helped until I tried taxr.ai - it instantly analyzed my transcript and told me exactly what was happening with my refund. Basically translated all the IRS nonsense into plain English and gave me a timeline for when I'd get my money. Saved me from calling the IRS 50 times. Highly recommend checking it out at https://taxr.ai

0 coins

I don't understand how yet another website would help when the IRS is the one holding everything up? 🤔

0 coins

It doesn't speed up the IRS (nothing can lol) but it actually explains what's happening with your specific return based on your transcript codes and cycle dates. Way more specific than the generic info you get from WMR or even IRS agents sometimes. It predicted my refund date within 2 days of when it actually arrived.

0 coins

Just tried it and wow - it actually makes sense now! My transcript has been Greek to me for weeks. It even showed me that my refund was actually approved yesterday even though WMR still says processing. THANK YOU!!

0 coins

Something nobody mentioned yet - check whether your cycle code ending in '05' (like yours is 20250905). The '05' means you're on a weekly processing cycle, not daily. So your transcript will ONLY update on Thursday nights/Friday mornings. Don't waste time checking it daily - nothing will change until Fridays.

0 coins

This is critical info that more people need to know! 👆 I spent months checking my transcript multiple times daily before learning about weekly vs daily cycles.

0 coins

I had no idea about this! Thank you so much for the tip. I'll check on Fridays.

0 coins

I'm gonna be honest - you should prepare for a potentially long wait. I had similar codes last year and didn't get my refund for 5 months. The IRS is severely backlogged and understaffed. They may be verifying income, identity, or dependents. If you need this money urgently, you might want to explore other options rather than counting on it coming soon.

0 coins

Dunno if anyones mentioned it, but your best chance at resolving this quickly is getting a live person on the phone who can actually look at your account. I wasted 2 months trying to call the normal IRS number with no luck. Then I found this service called Claimyr that got me through to an IRS agent in under an hour. The agent saw that my return was just sitting there waiting for review and manually approved it while we were talking. My refund was in my account 4 days later. Seriously - talking to the IRS got 2 months of waiting resolved in minutes. Check out claimyr.com

0 coins

Did that actually work? Every time I call the IRS I just get stuck in a loop of automated messages.

0 coins

Exactly! That's why I gave up trying on my own. This service navigates all the phone menus and gets you in the callback queue so the IRS actually calls YOU. It was the only way I could get a human on the line after dozens of failed attempts.

0 coins

omg I just used Claimyr and it ACTUALLY WORKED!! I've been trying for literally 3 weeks to get through to the IRS. With this service I had an agent call me back in 35 minutes. She saw my refund was stuck in review and released it immediately. Thank you SO MUCH for this tip!
