IRS Refund Delay: 60+ Days, No Update. What Can I Do?
Hey everyone, I'm getting really frustrated with my tax refund situation. It's been over 60 days since I filed, and I still haven't received anything. I've already fixed some issues with missing documents and identity verification, but now I'm just stuck waiting. Has anyone else been dealing with long delays? Any advice on how to get an update or speed things up?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been waiting for almost 90 days now. It's ridiculous how long this process takes. Have you tried calling the IRS directly? Sometimes you can get more info that way.

•I've tried calling, but I can never get through. It's always busy or I'm on hold forever. 😫

•Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You might have better luck getting through!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

•Trust me, after spending hours trying to get through, $20 felt like a bargain. Time is money, ya know?

Here's what I've learned from dealing with the IRS for years: 1. Check your transcript online if possible. It often has more up-to-date info than "Where's My Refund." 2. If you filed electronically, wait at least 21 days before panicking. 3. If you mailed your return, it could take up to 6 weeks just to be entered into the system. 4. Calling won't speed up the process, but it might give you peace of mind. 5. If you're experiencing financial hardship, mention this when you call. It might help prioritize your case. 6. Double-check that you don't have any outstanding issues from previous tax years. 7. Sometimes, no news is good news. If you haven't received any letters, it might just be in the queue. Hang in there! The system is frustratingly slow, but it (usually) works eventually.

Have you checked if there's an advocate in your area? Sometimes they can help push things along if you're experiencing hardship.

•I hadn't thought of that. How do I find an advocate?

•You can search for 'Taxpayer Advocate Service' on the IRS website. They have offices in every state.

Plot twist: the IRS is using our refunds to fund a secret space program 👽🛸

Anyone else notice that the "Where's My Refund" tool is about as useful as a chocolate teapot? 🍫☕

•For real tho. It's either 'still processing' or 'call us' with no in-between

Hey Douglas! I totally get your frustration - 60+ days is way too long. A few things that helped me when I was in a similar situation: First, definitely try calling early morning like Ruby suggested (around 7 AM when they open). Second, check your online transcript on the IRS website - it often shows more detailed status info than the "Where's My Refund" tool. Third, if you're experiencing any financial hardship because of the delay, make sure to mention that when you do get through to someone. And finally, consider reaching out to the Taxpayer Advocate Service if calling doesn't help - they're specifically there to help resolve these kinds of delays. Hang in there, it's incredibly frustrating but you'll get through this! 🤞
