IRS Refund Delay: E-filed 2/13, Verified 21+ Days Ago, Still No Refund. Help?
Hey everyone, I'm getting really frustrated with my tax refund situation. I e-filed on February 13th and it's been over 21 days since I got the verification done. Still no refund in sight. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on how to speed things up or at least get some answers from the IRS?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat - filed early February and still nothing. Have you tried checking the Where's My Refund tool? Sometimes it gives more info.

•Yeah, I've been checking that tool obsessively. It just says 'still processing' every time. So frustrating!

•Pro tip: try checking the tool at weird hours like 3 AM. Sometimes it updates then and you might catch new info 👀

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but 21 days is nothing these days. I've been waiting since January and still crickets. The IRS is seriously backed up.

•Yep, can confirm. Filed in December and just got mine last week. The wait is brutal 😫

Have you tried calling the IRS directly? Sometimes you can get more info that way, even if it's a pain to get through.

•I've tried a few times but always get the 'high call volume' message and get disconnected. It's so frustrating!

•Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://www.claimyr.com

Here's what I've learned from dealing with the IRS for years: 1. Patience is key. The 21-day guideline is more of a best-case scenario these days. 2. If you filed electronically and your return was accepted, it's likely just in a queue. 3. Check the IRS2Go app - sometimes it has more up-to-date info than the website. 4. If you're really worried, you can request a tax transcript. If it shows your return was processed, that's a good sign. 5. Unless it's been 6+ weeks or you have a special circumstance (like identity theft concerns), calling probably won't help much. 6. Make sure you don't have any outstanding issues from previous tax years - that can hold things up. Hang in there! It's frustrating, but most refunds do come through eventually.

•Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! This is really helpful. I'll definitely check out the app and maybe request a transcript.

Have you checked if there were any errors on your return? Sometimes small mistakes can cause big delays.

Did you claim any credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit? Those can sometimes trigger additional review and delay things.

•No, I didn't claim any special credits. Just a pretty straightforward return, which makes the delay even more annoying.

Plot twist: what if the IRS is using our refunds to fund a secret space program? 👽🛸

Have you considered reaching out to your local Taxpayer Advocate Service? They can sometimes help if you're facing financial hardship due to the delay.
