IRS Account Frozen - Can't Access, Need Help ASAP!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble accessing my IRS account. It's been frozen and I can't seem to get in. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any tips on how to get it unfrozen? I've tried calling but the wait times are insane.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I had the same issue last year. It's such a headache trying to get through to anyone at the IRS. Have you tried using their online verification process? Sometimes that can help unfreeze your account.

•Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the online verification, but it keeps giving me an error. It's so frustrating!

•Online verification is a joke. I tried it 3 times and it never worked. ended up having to mail in a form. took forEVER 🙄

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/5jrMesbidvI

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•20 bucks? No way, that's a scam.

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imho.

•Can you give more details about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

•Yeah, basically. They have some kind of system that navigates the phone tree and waits on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls you. Super simple.

Have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds archaic, but sometimes that's the only way to get their attention. I had to do that last year when my account was locked.

This is why we need tax reform. The IRS is so underfunded and understaffed, it's ridiculous. We're all suffering because they can't keep up with the workload.

•Tax reform? More like we need to abolish the IRS altogether! Taxation is theft! 😤

Here's what worked for me when my account was frozen: 1. Gather all your relevant tax documents (W-2s, 1099s, etc.) 2. Fill out Form 14039 (Identity Theft Affidavit) 3. Make copies of your government-issued ID 4. Write a detailed letter explaining your situation 5. Mail everything via certified mail to the IRS 6. Follow up with a fax after 2 weeks 7. Keep calling their customer service line (early mornings tend to have shorter wait times) 8. If all else fails, contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service It took about 6 weeks, but I finally got my account unfrozen. Good luck!

Have you checked if there's an IRS office near you? Sometimes you can make an appointment and talk to someone in person. It's a pain, but it might be faster than waiting on hold forever.
