Has anyone with 7/31/2025 DDD actually received their federal refund? State refund status?

Just curious if anyone else with the July 31st direct deposit date has actually seen their federal refund hit their bank account yet? My transcript updated last week showing the 7/31 date but nothing has shown up in my account. Getting a bit anxious since I really need these funds. Also wondering about state refund timelines - filed my Missouri return same time as federal (back in April) but haven't heard anything about that either. Anyone in the same situation or already received their money?

Liam Sullivan

IRS typically releases funds to banks 1-2 days before the official direct deposit date. Since your DDD is 7/31, the funds could be released as early as 7/29, but it also depends on your bank's processing time. Some banks make funds available immediately while others have a 1-3 day holding period. If you don't see anything by 8/2, that's when you should start getting concerned. As for your state refund, Missouri is currently processing returns filed in April. Their system operates independently from the federal IRS system, so there's no direct correlation between receiving your federal refund and state refund. You can check your Missouri refund status at dor.mo.gov/returnstatus/. If it's been more than 10 weeks since you filed, I'd recommend calling the Missouri Department of Revenue directly at (573) 751-3505.

Thanks for the detailed response! I checked the MO website but it just says "processing" for weeks now. Guess I'll just wait a few more days for the federal refund before panicking.

To add to this, if you used your refund to pay for tax prep fees, you might see an additional delay since it goes through a third party first. That got me last year ๐Ÿ˜ญ

I was in this exact situation a few months ago and was so frustrated trying to make sense of all the refund dates and transcript codes! I finally tried using taxr.ai and it was a game changer. Not only did it explain my transcript in plain english, but it predicted when my refund would actually hit my account (not just the IRS date). It also helped me understand some weird code on my transcript that was actually causing my delay. Definitely worth checking out - https://taxr.ai - way better than just guessing what all those codes and dates actually mean.

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

It analyzes your entire transcript and breaks everything down step by step. The coolest part is it can identify issues that might be holding up your refund that aren't obvious. Mine showed a code 570 that I didn't understand but the tool explained exactly what it meant and what to expect next. It literally saved me hours of googling and anxiety!

OMG NO WAY would I recommend something like that! It's just a transcript analysis tool. I was blown away by how accurate it was - predicted my refund would hit 2 days before the DDD and that's EXACTLY when it showed up. Wish I'd found it sooner honestly.

After dealing with refund delays for weeks, I finally got through to a live IRS agent using claimyr.com and they helped release my funds that same day! Turns out there was a small flag on my account that was holding everything up. Been waiting since March and couldn't get through on the regular phone line - kept getting the "high call volume" message and disconnected. The calling app was the best money I've ever spent to finally get my situation resolved instead of just waiting in the dark.

it basically keeps dialing for you until it gets through, then calls you back when it has an agent on the line. saved me from having to sit on hold for hours. talking to an actual human at IRS got my refund released in 48hrs after months of waiting.

worked for my complicated situation! had multiple issues with my return - incorrect W2 info + a missing form. the agent was able to fix everything while I was on the phone. probably woulda been waiting till 2026 without talking to someone directly ๐Ÿ˜‚

I had a 7/31 DDD too and just got mine deposited this morning (7/30). I bank with Chase if that helps. Still waiting on my state (Ohio) though - their website says it could take up to 3 months wtf.

Nope, nothin yet. same boat with 7/31 DDD. I bank with Wells Fargo and they usually take forever to process. State came like 3 weeks ago tho (California). I think each state has totally different timelines.

Wells Fargo is THE WORST with tax refunds. I switched to a credit union last year and now get my refunds way faster.

Yeah I've been thinking about switching. They always hold the money for the maximum time possible ๐Ÿ™„

Check your tax transcript on irs.gov if you haven't already! Sometimes theirs a code 570 or 971 that can delay things even with a DDD. I had a similiar issue last tax season and it took an extra week after my DDD to actually get the money becuase of some random verification they were doing.

-

Keisha Williams

This ๐Ÿ’ฏ. The DDD isn't always accurate if there are other codes on your transcript.

I did check my transcript but all those codes are so confusing. It shows an 846 code with the 7/31 date but there's other numbers too that I don't understand.

0 coins

-

17d

Keisha Williams

846 is the refund issued code which is good. What other codes do you see? 570 means there's a hold, 971 means they sent a notice. If you don't see either of those with recent dates you should be fine.

I see some older 150 codes from when I first filed. No 570 or 971 thankfully. I'll just try to be patient for a few more days I guess.

Anyone know what happens if your bank account info changed since you filed? Just realized I put my old account number on my return ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

0 coins

they'll try to deposit to that account, and when it bounces they'll mail you a paper check. adds about 2-3 weeks to the process usually.

Every year it's the same stupid guessing game with the IRS. "Where's my Refund" tool is still showing "processing" for me even though my transcript has a DDD of 7/31. Why can't they get their systems in sync?? And don't even get me started on their phone system...

WMR is always behind the transcript info. It's like they have completely separate systems that don't talk to each other.

Did you have your tax prep fees taken out of your refund? If so, it goes through a third party first which can add time.

No, I did my taxes myself through FreeTaxUSA and provided direct deposit info. Should've gone straight to my account.

Lucky you even have a DDD! I filed in February and my transcript still says "no return filed" even though they took my payment for what I owed months ago. The IRS is completely broken this year.

That happened to me too! Finally called and found out my return got flagged for ID verification. Never got any notice about it. You might need to check if that's your issue.

PSA: If you filed with TurboTax, H&R Block, etc and paid for the service using your refund, that adds time. They get your refund first, take their cut, then pass it on to you. Can add 1-5 days depending on the company.

i worked at a bank for 5 years. here's what you need to know: 1) the IRS sends batches of deposits to banks 1-2 days before the DDD, 2) big banks typically hold until the actual date while smaller banks/credit unions often release early, 3) if you see nothing by the day after your DDD, call your bank first THEN worry about contacting IRS.

0 coins

-

Mei Chen

This is super helpful context, thank you! I bank with BofA so I guess they're probably holding it until the actual date.

0 coins

-

BofA is notorious for holding until the EXACT date, sometimes even until end of day. If you don't see it by close of business tomorrow, then start making calls.

For what it's worth I just checked my transcript again this morning and noticed it had a new TC 846 with a DDD of 7/31 BUT there was also a TC 290 code from yesterday. I googled for hours and couldn't figure out what that meant for my refund timing. Finally uploaded my transcript to taxr.ai and it explained everything clearly - turns out it was just a harmless adjustment and my refund is still on track. Website is https://taxr.ai if anyone else is confused by all these mysterious transcript codes!

It's crazy how much stress they cause with all these cryptic codes! The tool translated everything into plain English and actually showed me exactly where in the process my refund was. Huge relief.

does anyone know if the TAS (taxpayer advocate service) can help with refunds that are just slightly delayed? or do they only take cases with serious hardship?

0 coins

-

Zara Rashid

TAS is super backed up right now. They're only taking cases where you're facing eviction, utility shutoff, or medical emergency. Just being annoyed by a delay isn't enough unfortunately.

This is the worst IRS filing season I can remember. Return took forever to process, transcripts gave no useful info, couldn't reach anyone by phone... until I found claimyr.com. Got through to an agent who explained my refund was delayed because they were verifying some info from my W-2. She pushed it through while I was on the phone with her and my DDD showed up the very next day. Talking to an agent was the only thing that actually fixed my problem.

Just an FYI to anyone getting state refunds - each state has completely different processing timelines. My federal took 3 weeks but North Carolina state took over 2 months. Some states are quick (California, Illinois seem pretty fast this year) while others are horrible (looking at you, New York and Hawaii with 4+ month waits). Check your state's tax website for their current processing times.
