Filed with Credit Karma - Anyone have a direct deposit date yet?
I'm just wondering if anyone who filed their 2023 taxes using Credit Karma (I think it's called Cash App Taxes now?) has received a direct deposit date from the IRS yet? I filed about two weeks ago and my return was accepted, but I'm not seeing any updates on the Where's My Refund tool. I'm not sure if I should be concerned or if this is normal processing time... I'm trying to be patient but this is only my second time filing on my own since graduating.

Credit Karma/Cash App Tax filers seem to be moving a bit slower this year in my experience. I filed on February 3rd and just got my direct deposit yesterday! ๐ The IRS doesn't technically process returns differently based on which software you use, but there does seem to be some weird timing patterns. Have you checked your transcript on the IRS website? That usually updates before Where's My Refund does.

I've used Credit Karma for the past 3 tax seasons and I've never had it take this long. Last year I had my refund within 8 days of filing. What's different about this year that's causing the slowdown?

Thank you for sharing your timeline! I filed on February 12th so maybe I'll see something by the 10th of March if your experience is any indication. Really need this money by the 15th for rent ๐ฌ

Wait, so the software we use doesn't actually affect processing time? Then why do people always say TurboTax gets faster refunds? Is that just a myth the whole tax community believes for no reason?

I checked my transcript but it just says N/A for 2023. Does that mean they haven't started processing it yet or is there something wrong with my return?

I filed with Credit Karma exactly 23 days ago and was getting really anxious when nothing updated. I called the IRS regular number 14 times and couldn't get through to anyone. Finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got connected to an agent in 17 minutes. They told me my return was just in normal processing and I should see a deposit date within 5-7 days. Sure enough, my WMR updated yesterday with a deposit date for March 8th. Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person to ease your mind.

I'm not entirely sure about using a service like that... Do they need any personal information to connect you? I'm always a bit cautious about sharing my tax details with third parties, especially when it comes to the IRS. Did you find it was worth the cost?

I'm in the EXACT same boat! Filed with Credit Karma on February 5th and was getting so frustrated with no updates! ๐ซ I finally got my deposit date yesterday, so about 3 weeks total wait time. The anxiety of waiting is the worst part - I completely understand how you're feeling. The IRS seems to be processing returns in weird batches this year. Don't worry too much yet, I bet you'll see movement in the next few days! โค๏ธ

I've been tracking Credit Karma/Cash App Tax processing patterns and here's what I'm seeing: โข Most returns are processing in 18-25 days right now โข Returns with tax credits take about 7 days longer โข Transcript updates usually happen overnight Wednesday-Thursday โข WMR tool often lags 2-3 days behind actual processing If you want to understand exactly what's happening with your return, I'd recommend using https://taxr.ai to analyze your transcript once it appears. It explains all those confusing codes and gives you an actual timeline prediction based on your specific situation.

I've been dealing with IRS transcripts for years and never heard of this tool. How is it any better than just looking up the transaction codes yourself? The IRS publishes all the code definitions online for free.

Be careful with Credit Karma/Cash App Tax if you have anything remotely complicated in your return. It's like using a Swiss Army knife when sometimes you need a specialized tool. Last year I filed with them and my return got stuck in processing for 2 months because their software didn't properly account for some investment losses. The IRS never notified me - it just sat in limbo until I called. If your return is simple, you're probably fine, but if you have investments, multiple states, or self-employment income, you might want to watch it closely.

I filed with Credit Karma on February 1st and just got my refund yesterday. Here's what happened: 1. Filed and accepted Feb 1 2. WMR showed one bar for 2 weeks 3. Transcript updated Feb 22 with codes 570/971 (temporary hold) 4. Called IRS on Feb 23 - they said identity verification needed 5. Verified identity online same day 6. Transcript updated Feb 26 with 846 code (refund issued) 7. Money in account March 1 The concerning part is they never sent me any notice about needing identity verification. If I hadn't checked my transcript and called, I might still be waiting with no idea why.

Have you tried using the IRS2Go app instead of the website? Sometimes it updates faster than the WMR portal. Also, check out the r/IRS megathread on refund timing - they have a daily thread where people post their filing software, date, and when they received refunds. From what I've seen there, Credit Karma/Cash App filers are averaging about 21 days right now. The IRS refund calendar at https://www.irs.gov/refunds is also helpful for understanding the general processing schedule.

I've used both Credit Karma and TurboTax in consecutive years, and there's definitely a difference in the Acknowledgment Code (ACK) processing time. The Path Act also affects EITC and ACTC claims, creating a mandatory hold until mid-February regardless of filing date. If you've claimed either of these credits, the 21-day processing window wouldn't have started until February 15th at the earliest, even if you filed in January. The IRS's Modernized e-File (MeF) system batches returns, so timing can vary significantly based on which batch your return was assigned to.
