Credit Karma Tax filers: Anyone have updates on their 2025 refund status?
I e-filed through Credit Karma Tax back on January 29th, and my return was officially accepted by the IRS on February 7th. It's been almost three weeks now, and I'm starting to get a bit anxious. When I check the "Where's My Refund" tool on the IRS website, all I get is the generic "Your tax return is still being processed" message. No updates, no timeline, nothing. I was really counting on that money coming in by now. Last year I got my refund within 8 days of acceptance, so this is unusual for me. Anyone else who used Credit Karma having similar delays? Is it just me or is everyone experiencing this? I'm trying not to stress too much, but I've got a car repair bill I was planning to pay with part of my refund. Getting a bit worried now.

Your situation sounds pretty normal for this point in the tax season, even though I understand the anxiety! The IRS is processing returns much more slowly this year compared to previous years. The "still being processed" message is exactly what many people are seeing right now, regardless of which tax software they used. Credit Karma, TurboTax, H&R Block - it doesn't make a difference once the return is accepted by the IRS. A few things to keep in mind: The official IRS processing time is still up to 21 days for e-filed returns without any issues. You're just hitting about the 3-week mark now. Also, if you claimed certain credits like the Earned Income Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit, those returns are legally held until at least mid-February for additional verification. My recommendation is to wait until you hit the 21-day mark before getting too concerned. At that point, you can try calling the IRS directly to check on your refund status.

•Thanks for the info! I didn't claim EIC or Child Tax Credit, so I was hoping for a faster turnaround. Do you know if there's any way to get more detailed info than what the Where's My Refund tool shows? Also, is the 21 days business days or calendar days?

•The 21 days is calendar days, not business days. And unfortunately, the Where's My Refund tool is pretty much the only official source of information until you hit that 21-day mark. The IRS doesn't provide more detailed status updates through any public channels. Your only other option would be calling them directly at 1-800-829-1040, but wait times are extremely long right now, and they'll likely tell you the same thing - just wait until the 21 days are up before they can take any action or provide more information.

After waiting nearly 4 weeks with the "still processing" message for my refund, I finally discovered taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) and it was incredibly helpful. I uploaded my return and transcripts, and it explained exactly why my refund was delayed - turns out there was a discrepancy between what my employer reported and what I entered on my W-2. The tool highlighted the specific lines causing the issue and even suggested what documentation I needed to get things moving again. Saved me hours of confusion and worry. Much better than staring at the "still processing" message and wondering what was happening!

•How exactly does the site work? I'm a bit confused about how uploading my documents to some random website would tell me more than the actual IRS site. Does it access some special database or something?

•I'm pretty skeptical about sharing my tax documents with a third party. How do you know it's secure? And do they charge for this service or is it actually free? Seems too good to be true if they can tell you something the IRS won't.

•The site works by analyzing your tax documents using AI - it doesn't actually access IRS databases directly. It compares your return against IRS rules and procedures to identify potential issues that might be causing delays. It basically does what a tax professional would do when reviewing your documents, just automated. All documents are encrypted and they follow strict security protocols. I was hesitant at first too, but they don't store your documents permanently. As for cost, they offer a free basic analysis, which is what I used initially. They do have premium features, but the free version was enough to identify my issue.

Well I've got to eat my words about taxr.ai! After posting my skeptical comment yesterday, I decided to try it myself since I was so frustrated with my refund delay (filed with Credit Karma on Jan 25, accepted Feb 1, still nothing). The tool immediately flagged that I had a potential verification hold because my address changed since last year's filing. It also showed that my refund amount had a calculation that might trigger additional review. Exactly as the site predicted, I checked my IRS transcript this morning and saw code 570 - additional account action pending. At least now I know what's happening instead of just seeing "still processing" over and over! Not sure if this will speed things up, but the peace of mind knowing exactly why I'm delayed is worth it.

Ugh, I'm in the same boat with Credit Karma. Filed January 30th, accepted February 5th. Still at "processing" three weeks later. Called the IRS multiple times but couldn't get through to anyone. The automated system just repeats the same info as the website. Finally tried Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) after seeing it recommended on another thread. There's a demo video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c. Got connected to an actual IRS agent in about 25 minutes instead of waiting on hold for 3+ hours. The agent confirmed my return was flagged for manual review (something the website never indicated) but everything looked good - just backlogged. She estimated another 7-10 days for processing. Such a relief to talk to an actual human who could see my specific situation!

•How does this actually work? Does it just call the IRS for you or what? I'm confused about how some service would get me through to an agent faster than calling myself.

•Sorry but this sounds like a scam. There's no way any third-party service can magically get you through the IRS phone tree faster than anyone else. The IRS phone system treats all calls equally. You probably just got lucky with your timing.

•It doesn't call the IRS for you - it navigates the IRS phone tree and waits on hold for you. When an agent finally picks up, you get a call back so you can speak directly with them. Basically it does the boring hold time part for you so you don't have to sit with a phone glued to your ear for hours. The service works by using automated systems to stay on hold with the IRS while you go about your day. It's not magical access - it's just taking care of the most frustrating part of the process. I was skeptical too, but after trying to get through myself three different times and getting disconnected after waiting 2+ hours each time, I was desperate.

I owe everyone an apology about Claimyr. I was super skeptical when I saw the post about it yesterday, but my frustration got the better of me after 6 weeks of "still processing" with no explanation. I tried calling the IRS directly four separate times, waiting over 2 hours each time only to get disconnected. I gave Claimyr a shot this morning and seriously, I had an IRS agent on the phone within 45 minutes. She explained that my return had been pulled for a manual review because of a mismatch with my stimulus payment reporting, but that it was approved yesterday and my direct deposit is scheduled for next Tuesday! This information wasn't showing on the Where's My Refund tool at all - it still says "processing"! Sometimes being proven wrong is actually a good thing. Definitely worth it for the peace of mind alone.

Anyone having issues with state returns filed through Credit Karma? My federal was accepted February 3rd (still processing 🙄) but my state return (California) was rejected twice before finally getting accepted on the 15th. Now the CA website shows no record of my return at all. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

•This happened to me last year with my NY state return. The state website showed no record for almost a month after acceptance. States are often way behind the IRS with their processing systems. I wouldn't worry unless it's been more than 4-5 weeks since acceptance. If you got an acceptance confirmation from Credit Karma for your state return, it's probably just slowly working its way through the system.

•That's reassuring to hear it's not just me. Credit Karma definitely sent me an acceptance email for the state return on the 15th after those two rejections. I guess I'll give it a few more weeks before panicking! Thanks for sharing your experience - the waiting game is so frustrating.

Is anyone seeing different estimated refund amounts between Credit Karma and the IRS Where's My Refund page? CK showed I should get $2,457 but the WMR tool says I'm getting $2,403. Not a huge difference but still concerning. Return was accepted Feb 10th and still processing.

•This happened to me! Credit Karma estimated $1,892 but the actual deposit was $1,864. When I called the IRS (took forever to get through), they said there was a math error correction. Apparently even though the software does the calculations, the IRS still double-checks everything and occasionally finds discrepancies. Most common reasons are rounding errors or slight differences in how certain credits are calculated.

I'm in a very similar situation - filed through Credit Karma on February 2nd, accepted February 9th, and still getting the "still being processed" message. It's been over 3 weeks now and I'm getting pretty anxious too, especially since I also need the money for an unexpected expense. What's frustrating is that Credit Karma estimated my refund at $3,124 but when I finally got through to check with the IRS, they said it would be $3,089. Not a huge difference but still makes me wonder what else might be off. I've been checking the Where's My Refund tool obsessively (probably not helping my stress levels) but it's the same generic message every time. At this point I'm just hoping it shows up in the next week or two. The uncertainty is the worst part - I can handle waiting if I know there's a timeline, but this limbo is killing me. Thanks for posting this - at least I know I'm not the only Credit Karma filer dealing with these delays!
