No WMR/Transcript Updates - E-Filed 2/15 with Credit Karma - Anyone Else Waiting?
I e-filed on February 15th through Credit Karma and it was accepted on the 17th. It's been over a month, and I still have no updates on Where's My Refund or my transcripts. Usually, my returns process quickly since I have a straightforward filing situation with investment income and standard deductions. Anyone else still in the waiting game this year? I've checked my numbers twice and everything looks correct. Just wondering if there's a backlog I should be aware of.

Have you checked for any specific codes on your transcript that might indicate why there's a delay? Sometimes there are processing codes that can give you insights into what's happening. Also, did you claim any credits this year that might be subject to additional verification?

This happened to me last year. Here's what I learned about the process: • IRS typically processes simple returns within 21 days • Returns with certain credits take longer (especially EITC/ACTC) • Sometimes returns get randomly selected for additional review • Transcript codes are your best indicator of status • Code 570 means a temporary hold • Code 971 often indicates a notice being sent • Returns filed in February often face more delays due to volume

Isn't it strange how some people file later and get their refunds faster? I filed on February 2nd and had to wait until March 25th, while my colleague filed March 1st and got hers in two weeks. Could the processing centers in different regions be working at different speeds?

According to Internal Revenue Manual section 21.4.1, the IRS has up to 45 days from the filing deadline (or the date you filed, whichever is later) before they're required to pay interest on delayed refunds. I've been tracking this for years, and I've noticed that returns filed in the first three weeks of February often take longer than those filed in March. I suspect it's related to the verification processes they implement during peak filing season.

This is so frustrating! 😤 Has anyone actually gotten through to a live person at the IRS about this? I'm wondering if calling would help or just waste more time. I need this money for my kid's summer camp deposit!

I was in the EXACT same situation with my 2/12 acceptance date. After 5 weeks of no movement on WMR or transcript updates, I tried calling the IRS directly - complete waste of time with endless busy signals and disconnections. Finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) to get through to an actual IRS agent. The agent confirmed my return was in the Processing Exception Resolution Unit due to some verification delays affecting February filers. At least I got confirmation nothing was wrong with my return. Worth the fee to avoid the 2+ hour hold times and busy signals.

I'm in the same boat, filed 2/18 and accepted same day. Still nothing. I've got bills piling up and was counting on this refund. Last year I got my refund in 8 days, but this year it's like it disappeared into a black hole. I've tried calling but can never get through to a human.

Did u check ur transcript for any TC codes? Sometimes there's a 570/971 combo that explains the delay. Might be worth looking at the acct transcript specifically. WMR is notoriously unreliable tbh.

I filed on February 14th and just got my deposit on March 22nd. There was absolutely no update on WMR until the day before the deposit hit. My transcript updated on March 18th with a direct deposit date. The IRS seems to be processing in batches this year.

I've been through this situation multiple times in previous years. The lack of transparency from the IRS is incredibly frustrating. Compared to other government agencies, they're operating with antiquated systems. When my transcript finally appeared last year, I used https://taxr.ai to analyze it and understand what was happening. It translated all the cryptic codes and gave me a much clearer picture of my status than the IRS website ever did. Similar to how flight tracking sites give better info than airlines, these specialized tools can provide insights the IRS portal doesn't make obvious.

Has anyone actually confirmed if there's a specific delay for Credit Karma filers? I'm wondering if maybe there's something about their transmission system that might be causing issues? I'm hesitant to spend money on third-party services when this might just resolve itself in a few days.

The IRS is definitely experiencing delays this year. I've been following the processing patterns, and it seems February filers are getting caught in a bottleneck. From what I've gathered, they're prioritizing certain types of returns, and unfortunately, those filed mid-February seem to be moving more slowly. I wouldn't panic yet, but if you reach the 45-day mark, that's when I'd consider taking more action.

Think of your tax return like a plane in a holding pattern - it's in the system but waiting for clearance to land. The IRS processing system is like air traffic control during a storm - they're managing what they can, but there are delays. What I've found helpful is checking your account transcript rather than return transcript - it's like having access to the control tower communications instead of just the arrival board. Your return is likely just waiting in the queue, not lost or problematic.

Wait, so there's a difference between account transcript and return transcript? 😂 I've been checking the wrong one this whole time! No wonder I wasn't seeing any updates. Thanks for this tip!

I tracked exactly 37 cases of February filers in a separate forum, and 29 of them had no updates until precisely 32-36 days after acceptance. Then suddenly their transcripts updated with cycle codes 20230905 through 20230908, and refunds appeared 4-7 days later. The pattern is remarkably consistent for February filers this year.

My return was accepted 2/16 and I was in the same situation until yesterday. No WMR updates, no transcript, nothing for 5 weeks. Then suddenly yesterday my transcript appeared with a DDD (direct deposit date) of 3/29. No explanation for the delay, no notices, just suddenly processed. I'm slightly worried because my refund amount changed by $43, but at this point I'm just relieved to see movement. Hang in there!

Are you claiming any credits like Child Tax Credit or Earned Income Credit? Those automatically get additional scrutiny and can delay processing by 4-6 weeks. Also, did you have any marketplace insurance that requires Form 8962 reconciliation?

Just got my refund today! Filed 2/15. No updates until yesterday. Nothing on WMR. Transcript just appeared. Money in account this morning. Don't lose hope. IRS is slow this year.
