TurboTax Filers with 2/22 DDD and Credit Karma Card - Any Updates?

Looking for my tax refund buddies in the same boat! Here's my situation step-by-step: 1. Filed with TurboTax on 1/29/24 2. Paid all fees upfront (no fees taken from refund) 3. Got a direct deposit date of 2/22/24 on WMR 4. Chose Credit Karma Money card for my refund It's now several days past my DDD and still nothing. My wife and I are really counting on this money for some home repairs we've been putting off since our wedding last fall. I've checked my transcript and it shows the refund was sent, but nothing's hit my Credit Karma account. Anyone else experiencing this? Are Credit Karma cards typically delayed compared to traditional bank accounts? I know the IRS says to allow 5 business days after the DDD, but I'm starting to get concerned. Any insights appreciated!

I'm in the same boat! Filed with TurboTax, got the same DDD, and still waiting on my Credit Karma card. ๐Ÿ˜… From what I've seen in previous years, Credit Karma sometimes takes an extra 1-3 business days compared to traditional banks. The good news is that almost everyone I know who had this issue eventually got their money - it just took a bit longer than expected. Have you tried checking your account throughout the day? Sometimes they do batch deposits at weird hours.

Did you get an email notification from Credit Karma that your deposit was pending? I'm curious because I'm in a similar situation but with a different bank. My husband and I filed jointly through TurboTax with a DDD of 2/24, but we're still waiting. I wonder if there's a pattern with certain banks or cards?

I'm not OP, but I might be able to help... I believe Credit Karma doesn't always send pending notifications the way traditional banks do. At least, that was my experience last year. Sometimes the money just appears without warning. Have you checked your IRS transcript to confirm the refund was actually sent?

I had exactly the same DDD of 2/22 with Credit Karma and my refund finally appeared exactly 4 business days after the DDD. The timestamp on the deposit was 2:17am when it finally showed up. I checked 37 times before it appeared (yes, I counted). Hang in there!

This waiting game is SO stressful! ๐Ÿ˜ซ I had the same situation last year with Credit Karma and my heart dropped every time I checked and saw nothing. I ended up calling them after 5 days and they said they could see the pending deposit on their end but it hadn't cleared yet. Maybe try calling? I'm worried this is happening to so many people this year!

I went through this EXACT situation last year with TurboTax and Credit Karma. After waiting a full week past my DDD with no deposit, I tried calling the IRS regular number for THREE DAYS with no luck. Finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got through to an agent in about 15 minutes. Turns out there was a routing number issue that needed to be fixed. The agent was able to update my information and I got my refund within 48 hours. Sometimes you need to speak directly with someone to resolve these deposit issues, and Claimyr saved me from endless redial hell.

FYI for everyone - there's a known delay w/ Credit Karma cards this tax season. Several ppl in another thread confirmed they got their $ exactly 5 biz days after DDD. TurboTax & CK aren't technically the same company anymore (Intuit sold CK to Cash App) so there might be some backend issues. Def wait the full 5 biz days before panicking. If nothing by then, check ur transcript for any code 846 (refund issued) and the date next to it.

Is anyone else wondering why the IRS can't just give us a REAL direct deposit date instead of this guessing game? Why say 2/22 if they know darn well it's going to take longer for certain banks and cards? And why does Credit Karma take longer than traditional banks when it's all electronic transfers anyway? Seems like there's some technical issues they're not being transparent about. I've been watching several Credit Karma forums and there are hundreds of people with the same issue from what I can see.

I wonder if this is similar to what happened with Chime users last year? They had massive delays compared to traditional banks. My brother had a 5-day delay with Chime while I got mine same-day with my credit union. Maybe these fintech companies process differently than traditional banks?

Think of it like this: the IRS sends the money like a train leaving the station on your DDD. That train has to travel through different tracks (ACH networks) to reach different destinations (banks). Some destinations have express routes, others have multiple stops. The IRS can only tell you when the train leaves, not exactly when it arrives at your specific station.

Thank you for bringing this up! I've been feeling crazy checking my Credit Karma account every few hours. Such a relief to know I'm not alone in this! Just checked my transcript again and it definitely shows the refund was issued.

Skeptical about these online banks now. Traditional banks seem more reliable. Will switch next year. Too much stress.

According to IRS Publication 2043, section 4.2, the IRS allows financial institutions up to 5 business days to process direct deposits after the official DDD. While many banks process these immediately, some institutions like Credit Karma may utilize the full processing window allowed by regulations. I'm also waiting for my refund (DDD 2/24) and am hesitant to believe this is just a simple delay. Has anyone actually confirmed with Credit Karma that they can see pending deposits in their system?

I specifically asked a Credit Karma rep about this yesterday. They told me they can see my pending deposit of $3,742 in their system with an expected posting date of tomorrow morning. They claimed all tax refunds go through an additional verification step that takes 3-5 business days after the IRS sends it. Whether that's true or they're just holding our money to earn interest, I can't say for sure.

I think there might be some confusion about how the Credit Karma Money accounts work with tax refunds. From what I understand, they *might* process a bit differently than traditional banks, especially if you paid your TurboTax fees upfront rather than having them deducted from your refund. It seems like the upfront payment method sometimes follows a different processing path, although I'm not entirely sure why that would be the case.

I had this exact situation last year, so let me walk you through what happened with me: 1. Filed with TurboTax and selected Credit Karma card 2. Got a DDD of 2/18/23 3. No deposit on that date 4. Called Credit Karma on day 3 - they confirmed they could see it pending 5. Money appeared on day 4 at around 3am The Credit Karma rep explained that they process tax refunds in batches, and while they receive the funds from the IRS on the DDD, they have an internal verification process that takes 2-4 business days. It's frustrating but completely normal. I appreciate everyone sharing their experiences here - it definitely helps reduce the anxiety of waiting!
