DDD Today for Amended Return but Bank of America Still Showing Nothing?

Filed my 1040-X on January 28th and received my DDD (Direct Deposit Date) for today, March 20th. WMR shows 'Refund Approved' with today's date, but I've checked my Bank of America account multiple times and nothing has posted. My transcript shows cycle code 20240905 with 846 refund issued. Anyone else with BoA experiencing delays with their amended return deposits today? Just methodically working through all possibilities before I contact the IRS again.

DDD (Direct Deposit Date) doesn't necessarily mean the funds will be available at midnight. According to the IRS.gov processing guidelines, banks can take 1-5 business days to post refunds after receiving them from the Treasury. You can verify your refund status on https://www.irs.gov/refunds which shows the actual transmission date to your financial institution. I'd wait at least 24 hours before assuming there's an issue.

Thank you for clarifying this. I've seen so many conflicting reports about DDD timing. This aligns with Publication 5344 which indicates the deposit timeframe is ultimately controlled by the financial institution, not the IRS.

This might be generally true, but Bank of America specifically tends to post Treasury deposits quite promptly, usually by 3-4am on the DDD. At least that's been my experience in most cases.

Last year my BoA refund came at exactly 3:17pm on my DDD. The year before it was 11:42am. There's definitely no midnight guarantee - the Treasury batch processing happens throughout the day.

I work with tax transcripts daily and can confirm that amended returns follow a different deposit schedule than regular returns. Looking at the current processing patterns, approximately 27% of amended return deposits are delayed by exactly 1 business day after the DDD, and another 14% by 2 business days. If you want to understand exactly what's happening with your transcript, I'd recommend https://taxr.ai - it can analyze your transcript codes and give you a precise timeline based on current IRS processing patterns. It confirmed my amended return would arrive 1 day after DDD (which it did) when I was in your situation last month.

I'm in the EXACT same situation with BoA. My DDD was March 20th, and it's now 4:30pm and still nothing. I called BoA on March 18th and they said they don't see any pending deposits. I tried calling the IRS today but couldn't get through after waiting 1 hour and 37 minutes. Finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes. The agent confirmed the payment was sent this morning but said it can take up to 24 hours to show in my account. I'm concerned because I need this money for a medical bill due on the 22nd.

Bank of America customer here. My tax refund hit my account at 5:45pm on my DDD, not at midnight like I expected. Don't worry yet! Their system processes ACH deposits throughout the day. I've had this happen three years in a row now. Your money is coming today, just not on the schedule we all hope for.

I think I've figured out what's happening with the BoA DDD issue. There appears to be a processing lag specifically for amended return refunds (1040-X) in the ACH system. My deposit just hit at 5:12pm today despite having a DDD of today. The transaction details showed a processing timestamp of 2:47pm from the Treasury. This is consistent with the FMS (Financial Management Service) processing schedule for secondary distribution batches. Regular returns seem to process in the morning batch while amended ones are in the afternoon batch. Check your account between 5-7pm.

Here's what you need to know about DDD timing with Bank of America: • Bank of America typically processes IRS deposits in 3-4 batches throughout the day • First batch: 3-5am Eastern • Second batch: 10am-12pm Eastern • Third batch: 2-5pm Eastern • Final batch: 7-9pm Eastern For amended returns specifically: • They often process in later batches (afternoon/evening) • The IRS flags them differently in the ACH system • Some BoA branches show pending deposits, others don't • Online banking sometimes updates before the mobile app I'd recommend checking again after 5pm. If nothing by tomorrow morning, then call the IRS.

This is similar to how Chase handles Treasury deposits, though they seem to have only 3 batches. My sister has BoA and her amended return last year came through around 6:30pm, while my regular return with Chase came at 1:45pm. The financial institutions definitely handle these differently.

Can confirm this is accurate. My DDD was yesterday and my BoA deposit hit at exactly 4:17pm. Last year it was 3:52pm. The year before it was 5:23pm. They're always afternoon for me, never morning or midnight like some people claim.
