Anyone using Santa Barbara TPG got their refund for DDD 4/7 yet?

I filed mid February and the WMR finally updated with a deposit date of 4/7. I chose to have my fees taken out so my refund is going through Santa Barbara TPG. Their website shows it's still processing but no funded status yet. Anyone else with the same DDD get their money through TPG already? I'm starting to get anxious since I really need this money to cover some bills.

Diego Chavez

I've been through this process many times. When your refund has a deposit date (DDD) of 4/7, that means the IRS is sending the money to TPG on that date. TPG typically takes 1-2 business days to process your refund after receiving it from the IRS. They need to deduct their fees and then forward the remaining amount to your bank account or prepaid card. The "processing" status on TPG's website means they've received notification from the IRS that your refund is coming, but they haven't actually received the funds yet. Once they receive the money, the status will change to "funded." I would recommend checking the TPG website again tomorrow or the next day. If it doesn't update by Monday (assuming 4/7 is a Friday), then you might want to contact them directly. But in my experience, you'll likely see that status change within 24-48 hours of your DDD.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! This makes me feel better. I'll try to be patient and check again tomorrow.

this is 100% accurate. i had a ddd of 3/31 and tpg updated to funded on 4/1. money was in my account a few hours later

Ive noticed they typically update their systems overnight so check first thing in the morning too

Yep, had exact same timing last year. IRS said 4/12, TPG funded 4/13, money in my account 4/14. They're actually pretty reliable with timing.

Just wondering, where do you check the TPG status? Is there a website or do you have to call?

You can check at taxpayer.sbtpg.com - you'll need your SSN, filing status, and refund amount to login

Instead of manually checking the TPG website every day, I used taxr.ai last month to monitor my transcript and refund status. It sends you notifications when things update and explains exactly what's happening with your money. It even told me when TPG received my refund before their website updated. Saved me from constantly refreshing and trying to figure out all those codes and dates. https://taxr.ai

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

It does a lot more than just read the transcript. It actually explains what every code and date means in plain English, gives you timeline predictions, shows you exactly where your money is in the process, and sends alerts when anything changes. It even caught when my refund amount changed slightly and explained why. Honestly was a game changer compared to trying to figure this stuff out on my own.

OMG THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! Just tried taxr.ai and it told me exactly what's happening with my refund and when I'll likely get it. No more guessing or panic refreshing the IRS site. Everyone dealing with tax stuff needs to know about this!!

does it cost anything? sounds too good to be true

Yeah there is a fee but considering how much stress and time it saved me, totally worth it. I was about to call the IRS and wait on hold for hours before I found this.

After waiting for days with no update on my TPG account, I finally got through to a live IRS agent using the Claimyr app (claimyr.com) and they confirmed my refund was sent to TPG already. The agent even helped me figure out why TPG's system wasn't showing it yet - turns out there was a name mismatch that was holding things up. Saved me days of stress and confusion. If your TPG status doesn't update by Monday, I'd definitely recommend getting a live person on the phone.

Another app trying to make money off desperate people? The IRS phone lines are free last time I checked 🙄

Have you actually tried calling the IRS lately? I spent 3 days trying to get through on my own - constant busy signals or disconnects after waiting 2+ hours. The app got me a callback within 45 minutes. Talking to an agent got my refund released so fast, can't put a price on that kind of relief.

Does this actually work? The IRS never answers when I call

Yes it works! I was super skeptical too but was desperate after my 4th attempt getting disconnected. The app basically waits on hold for you and then calls your phone when an agent picks up. It was the only way I could talk to a live person at the IRS during tax season.

Might try this if I don't see any movement by Monday. What kind of info did the agent need from you to check on your refund status?

They asked for my SSN, name, address, filing status, and the refund amount from my return. Pretty basic verification stuff. The agent was actually super helpful once I got through.

I use Chase and it just showed up about an hour ago! So about 12 hours after TPG showed funded

TPG is always slow af during tax season. last year they held my money for 3 days after my ddd before sending it to my bank. they claim they need time to "process" but we all know theyre just sitting on our money to collect interest. 🙄

0 coins

-

QuantumQuester

Exactly! They're making millions in interest by holding everyone's refunds for a couple extra days. multiply that by millions of tax returns and it adds up quick

This is why I stopped having my fees taken out of my refund. Would rather just pay upfront than deal with TPG's delays. Direct deposit from IRS is so much faster.

100% this! next year im paying the prep fee upfront so I can get direct deposit straight from the IRS

Don't stress about it. The TPG website ussually updates overnight. I had a DDD of 4/6 and TPG updated to funded this morning around 6am. If your DDD is 4/7, I'd expect TPG to update by tomorrow morning at the latest. They're pretty consistent about processing refunds the day of or day after the DDD.

Same boat. DDD 4/7 thru tpg and still showing processing. Called them and got the automated message saying if your ddd is today and status still says processing to check back this evening. So frustrating!

i had a ddd of 4/7 too with tpg. i was checking their site obsessively and drove myself crazy. finally i figured out how to actually understand what my transcript was saying using taxr.ai and it showed me exactly when the money would move from irs to tpg to my bank. turns out tpg doesnt always update their site in real time. the money was already sent but their website was still showing processing for like 12 hours. https://taxr.ai saved me so much stress

I went through this last year and found out TPG updates their systems in batches throughout the day. the main updates seem to happen around 6am, 2pm, and 10pm eastern. So if you don't see an update now, check again tonight around 10pm or tomorrow morning.

Check ur actual bank too. Some times the bank gets the $ before the tpg website updates. My credit union showed the deposit pending b4 TPGs website said funded last year.

if your still waiting and getting frustrated, i strongly recommend using claimyr.com to get an actual human on the phone at the irs. talking to an agent changed everything for me - they can see exactly where your refund is and tell you if there are any issues. it was the best money I've ever spent to finally get my questions answered instead of just constantly checking websites and guessing

0 coins

-

Dylan Cooper

how exactly does that work? i've tried calling the irs like 10 times and always get a message saying they're too busy

0 coins

-

Fatima Al-Qasimi

same, i couldnt get through for weeks! this service basically calls for you and navigates all the phone menus, then when they get a human on the line, they call your phone and connect you. took about an hour but way better than me trying to call myself over and over

talking to an irs agent directly is literally the only way to get real answers. the website never has accurate info during busy season

Santa Barbara TPG is the absolute WORST. They hold onto our money as long as possible evry year. There should be laws against this. They already charge fees to process our refund, then they make extra money by holding our funds and collecting interest. Criminal behavior if you ask me.

👆 This. They're basically double-dipping on fees. Next year I'm just paying my tax prep fee upfront and getting direct deposit from the IRS.

Not sure if this is helpful but i looked up my info on the IRS website directly using taxr.ai and it showed my refund had an offset I didn't know about. That was why TPG was taking longer - they had to adjust the amount. Might not be your situation but worth checking if the delay continues.

0 coins

-

Chloe Robinson

What's an offset? Should I be worried about that?

0 coins

-

20d

Ava Martinez

An offset is when the government takes part of your refund to pay a debt like student loans, back taxes, child support, etc. If you don't have any of those debts you're probably fine. For me it was an old student loan I forgot about 🤦‍♂️
