TPG Status Update - Anyone Showing Funded Yet?
Just checking in about Tax Products Group (TPG) status updates for this filing season: • Filed my 1099 taxes on March 2nd • WMR shows approved as of yesterday • TPG still shows "pending" not "funded" • Expected refund amount: $3,427 Anyone else seeing a status change to funded in their TPG account? Trying to determine if there's a pattern to the timing this year.

I've been monitoring TPG updates for the past few weeks, and there seems to be about a 24-48 hour delay between WMR approval and TPG showing funded status in most cases. This might vary depending on your bank and the specific tax preparer you used. It's probably not a cause for concern yet if your WMR just updated yesterday.

•Not always true. Seen many variations. Some update same day. Others take 3+ days. Depends on processing batch.

•Would this be different if you're getting a check versus direct deposit? My brother got his TPG funded status after just 12 hours last week, but he had direct deposit set up with a major bank.

Mine just updated to funded this morning! I filed on February 28th, got WMR approval on Monday, and TPG updated to funded at 6:15am today. I used TurboTax and have my refund going to Chase. Has anyone checked the TPG Facebook page? Sometimes they post updates about processing batches there.

Have you checked whether your bank shows a pending deposit yet? Sometimes the money is already on its way but TPG hasn't updated their system. Their status updates aren't always in real-time, especially during peak season when they're processing thousands of refunds per day. Did you file with any special credits that might cause additional delays?

I might be able to offer some insight here. I've been through this a few times with TPG. Their system typically updates overnight in batches, so you might see a change by tomorrow morning. If you're really concerned about the status, you could probably call the IRS directly to confirm everything's on track, though getting through to them can be challenging. I've had good results using Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to connect with an IRS agent without the endless hold times. They might be able to confirm if the funds have been released to TPG already, which would give you peace of mind.

•I tried calling the IRS on April 2nd about my TPG status and waited over 2 hours before giving up. Does this Claimyr service actually work? Seems too good to be true if they can get you through when the regular line is so backed up.

•What specific information does the IRS provide about TPG transfers? Do they actually track when the money moves from their system to the third-party processor, or do they just confirm the refund was approved?

Wait, are we really trusting these third-party refund processors? TPG takes a cut of your refund and then makes you wait even longer? 😬 I switched to direct deposit with the IRS this year after the TPG nightmare last year. Three extra days of waiting while they sat on my money. No thanks!

TPG is like the middleman in a relay race - they're just one leg of the journey your money takes. The IRS hands the baton (your refund) to TPG, who then passes it to your bank. Each handoff takes time. While it's frustrating, it's actually a normal part of the process when you choose to have your preparation fees deducted from your refund. If you want to avoid this next year, you can pay your preparation fees upfront and get direct deposit straight from the IRS, cutting out the middleman entirely.
