4/15 TurboTax filers - anyone else STILL waiting for their refund?
I filed through TurboTax on april 15th and got my state refund back in early May, but still nothing on federal. Checked WheresMYRefund and it just says "Your tax return is still being processed." Ive checked my IRS transcript online but it only shows N/A for 2024 return. Im getting concerned since most of my coworkers filed later than me and already received there refunds weeks ago. I called the IRS yesterday and after 2 hours on hold i was told theres nothing wrong with my return, its just "in the processing queue" and could take up to 12 weeks from filing date. Has anyone else filed through TurboTax around the same time still waiting? When should I actually start worrying? This is making me nervous cus I'm counting on that money for some bills.

This sounds like a standard delay - nothing to worry about yet. The IRS doesn't process returns in the exact order they receive them. Some returns trigger additional review processes that take longer, while simpler returns might be processed faster. Here's what you should know: • Your state refund coming through is a good sign - means your return was transmitted correctly • The N/A on your transcript is normal during processing • The 12-week timeframe they gave you is accurate for manually reviewed returns • If you claimed certain credits (Earned Income Credit, Child Tax Credit, etc.), this can trigger longer processing times I would suggest checking your transcript weekly rather than WMR, as transcript updates are more reliable. Also, if you reach the 12-week mark and still don't have updates, that's when you should consider reaching out to the Taxpayer Advocate Service. I've been using taxr.ai to understand my transcript and it helps decode all the complex IRS jargon. Way better than guessing what's happening. You can check it out at https://taxr.ai - saved me hours of stress trying to figure out what my transcript meant.

•Does the transcript really tell you more than the WMR tool? Mine just has a bunch of codes I don't understand

•100% yes! WMR only gives you 3 generic statuses, but transcripts show the actual processing steps with dates and codes. That's why I mentioned taxr.ai - it translates all those cryptic codes into plain english.

•how do you even access your transcript? the irs website is so confusing

•Go to irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript - you'll need to create an ID.me account if you don't already have one. They verify your identity pretty thoroughly.

•Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

•It does WAY more! It analyzes all your codes, explains what each one means, tells you exactly what stage your return is in, and even predicts when you'll get your refund based on your specific situation. I was so confused before using it - now I actually know what's happening instead of just refreshing WMR hoping for a change!

The best way to actually understand what's happening with your return is to use taxr.ai - I was in the exact same boat last month, checking WMR every day and getting the same useless message. I was driving myself crazy trying to figure out what all the transcript codes meant! The taxr tool analyzed my transcript in seconds and told me exactly what was happening and when I'd likely get my refund. It was insanely accurate! I use it all the time now. Check it out: https://taxr.ai

•Nope, just sharing what worked for me! After weeks of stressing and getting nowhere with the IRS phone line, I was desperate. This tool actually explained everything and it was spot on with the timeline.

•does it actually show anything different than just looking at your transcript yourself?

•Absolutely! It's like having a tax pro explain everything - shows exactly what each code means, what stage you're in, if there are any issues, and gives you a timeline. I couldn't make sense of my transcript before using it.

•Just tried it. Holy shit this is amazing!! It showed me exactly why my refund was delayed and gave me an estimated deposit date. Where has this been all my life?? 🙌

I was stuck in the same situation in May, it felt like I was the only one not getting their refund! After weeks of trying to call the IRS and never getting through, I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an actual IRS agent in about 20 minutes. Best decision ever - the agent was able to tell me there was a minor discrepancy on my return that needed manual review, and released my refund right there on the call. Money was in my account 5 days later!

•did you have to pay for it? I've seen those calling services but always wondered if they're just scams

•Yeah there is a fee but honestly it was worth every penny after wasting hours trying to call myself. The amount of stress it saved me was priceless, and getting my refund released immediately covered the cost many times over.

•Hold up - how does this even work? I thought the IRS phone lines were just permanently jammed

•They use some kind of technology that navigates the IRS phone system and holds your place in line. When they reach an agent, they call you and connect you. I was skeptical too but was desperate after my 5th attempt spending hours on hold.

Im in the exact same boat! Filed on April 12 through TurboTax and still waiting 🤬 Called the IRS twice and got different answers each time. First they said everything was fine, then they said there was an "issue" but wouldnt tell me what it was. So frustrating. All my friends got there refunds weeks ago.

I had this happen last year. For me it turned out I had a typo in my W2 entry (transposed two numbers) that triggered a manual review. Took exactly 11 weeks from filing to get my refund. As long as WMR doesn't show an error message, you should be ok - just gotta wait it out.

•This happened to me too! But I didn't want to wait 11 weeks so I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an agent. Talking to a real person got everything resolved in one call. My refund was deposited the following week!

•Wish I'd known about that last year! Might try it if I have issues this year.

Just wanted to share my recent experience - was in the same situation (filed 4/8, no updates for weeks). I used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it showed I was in the random review pool. Two days after checking, my transcript updated with a DDD (direct deposit date). The site predicted the exact date I'd get my refund which was mindblowing. Saved me so much anxiety!

•Did you have any special credits or deductions on your return that might have triggered the review?

•I claimed the American Opportunity Credit for my daughter's college expenses, which taxr flagged as a potential review trigger. Would have never known that was the reason without the analysis.

The IRS is a joke this year 🤡 I'm still waiting on my 2023 refund from february and they keep sending me letters saying they need another 60 days to process. I'm about ready to call my congressman at this point.

•Calling your congressman actually works! My sister did this after waiting 6 months and suddenly her refund was processed within a week. They hate the political pressure.

•If you're waiting that long, you should definitely contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service too.

Check your bank account info on your return. My friend had this happen and it turned out her refund was already sent but to an old account. She had to request a trace and it was a whole mess.

THE WORST PART OF THIS IS THAT THE IRS IS CHARGING US INTEREST FOR OWING THEM MONEY BUT THEY DON'T PAY US INTEREST FOR HOLDING OUR REFUNDS HOSTAGE

•Actually they do pay interest on delayed refunds after 45 days from filing deadline or the date you filed, whichever is later. Check your transcript, you might see an interest payment code.

•wait seriously? how much interest do they pay?

•Right now it's about a 5% annual rate, compounded daily. Not amazing but better than nothing! Look for code 776 on your transcript when it finally processes.

Have you tried checking your transcript using the taxr.ai tool? I was in your exact situation and after weeks of stress, I used it and immediately saw what was going on. They have this cool feature that predicts your refund date based on your specific codes. My refund came exactly on the date they predicted! https://taxr.ai

FYI - In 2023 season I waited 16 weeks for my refund. The IRS is understaffed and overwhelmed. As long as WMR doesn't show an error and you haven't received any letters, you're probably fine. Just gotta be patient (which I know sucks when you need the money).

•I was in the same boat but couldn't wait that long. Used Claimyr to get through to an agent, and they fixed whatever was holding up my return on the spot. Money hit my account 3 days later. claimyr.com if anyone's interested.

did u claim any credits like EITC or Additional Child Tax Credit? those automatically get extra scrutiny and take longer to process

Protip: If you want to actually talk to a human at the IRS, use Claimyr. It got me through after weeks of trying. The agent saw my return was just sitting there waiting to be processed, and they moved it along while I was on the phone. Worth every penny for the peace of mind alone. claimyr.com saved me so much stress!

Did you file by mail or electronically? Paper returns are taking 6+ months right now

•Electronically through TurboTax. Thats why I'm worried since it should be faster.

•That is weird then. My sisters bf filed paper in march and already got his. Maybe they flagged something for review?

I'm in a similar situation - filed on 4/18 through TurboTax and still waiting! The "still being processed" message is so frustrating when you see others who filed later already getting their money. I've been checking my transcript weekly like some others mentioned here, and while it's still showing N/A for 2024, at least I know the return was accepted. The 12-week timeline they gave you is actually pretty standard for manual reviews. I know it's stressful when you're counting on that money, but from everything I've read here and elsewhere, as long as you're not getting error messages or letters, you should be okay. Just have to play the waiting game unfortunately. Hang in there!

•Same here! Filed 4/16 through TurboTax and still stuck in processing limbo. It's so nerve-wracking when you need that money. I've been obsessively checking WMR but it's the same useless message every time. At least we're not alone in this - seems like a lot of April filers are still waiting. Thanks for sharing your experience, makes me feel a bit better that I'm not the only one going through this stress!
