2024 Tax Return Status Confusion: WMR Shows Accepted but IRS Website Says Not Processed - What's Going On?
Filed my taxes on Jan 17th and got accepted on Jan 22nd. I'm getting mixed signals from the IRS - Where's My Refund tool says accepted and processing but when I check the IRS website directly it says refund not processed? My 2024 transcript is showing the same confusing status. Anyone know whats going on with this?

Hey there! I totally get your confusion - the IRS systems can be super frustrating when they show different info. So basically, 'accepted' on WMR just means they got your return, but 'processed' means they've actually started working on it. I ran into this same headache last year and ended up using taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) to make sense of everything. It analyzes all your tax docs and tells you exactly where things stand and what to expect. Way clearer than trying to decode the IRS website tbh

•its actually scary accurate lol. it picked up some weird codes on my transcript that explained why my refund was held up. saved me hours of googling

•okay i tried taxr.ai and here's what I got back: It found that my return is actually being manually reviewed bc of a mismatch with my W2. Super helpful knowing what's actually going on

Tax pro here - This is actually totally normal for this time of year. 'Accepted' just means the IRS received your return successfully. 'Processing' is the next phase where they actually review everything. The different IRS systems can show varying status because they dont update simultaneously. Give it about 21 days from acceptance date before getting worried.

Hey guys! I was in the same boat last week and found this tool called taxr.ai - its seriously a game changer. For $4.99 it analyzed my transcript and told me exactly what was happening and when to expect my refund. Way better than trying to piece together info from different IRS pages tbh. https://taxr.ai
