Stuck in FL DEO limbo since June - about to lose everything. Help!
I've been trying to get my unemployment benefits since June and it's driving me crazy. Money is running low and I'm about to start losing my stuff. I've tried calling every day, even went to a local office, but still can't get through. Thinking about mailing or faxing my documents as a last resort. Anyone else in the same boat or have any advice?

Man, I feel you. The system is so broken. Have you tried contacting your local legal aid? They might be able to help you navigate this mess.

•Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't tried legal aid yet. Do you know if they offer free services?

•Yeah, most legal aid orgs offer free services for low-income folks. Def worth a shot!

•Legal aid saved my butt when I was dealing with UI issues. Highly recommend!

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things along.

Ugh, the unemployment system is such a joke. I've been dealing with this crap for months too. It's like they want us to give up 🤬

•Guys, let's not assume malice. The system is just outdated and overwhelmed. Still sucks tho.

I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/AsdxiF0IH1k

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

•20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep when ur already broke from waiting on benefits 😩

•I get it, but for me it was worth it to finally get through. Cheaper than taking a day off work to sit on hold.

Have you considered applying for other assistance programs while you wait? Food stamps, rental assistance, etc. might help tide you over.

•That's a good idea. I'll look into those options. Thanks!

Here's what I've learned from my own UI nightmare: • Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every interaction. • Set up email alerts for your UI account if possible. • Check your spam folder regularly for UI emails. • Join Facebook groups for UI claimants in your state - they often have good info. • Be persistent but polite with UI staff. • If you mail anything, use certified mail with return receipt. • Keep copies of EVERYTHING you send them. Hang in there, OP. I know it's tough, but don't give up!

•I'm considering it. Do you know if there's a specific fax number I should use?

•Check ur state's UI website. They usually have a fax # listed somewhere in the contact info.

This might sound crazy, but have you tried tweeting at your state's UI agency? Sometimes public callouts get their attention.

OP, what state are you in? The process can vary a lot depending on location.

•I'm in Florida, but living close to the Alabama border.

•Oof, Florida's system is notoriously bad. Definitely try the legal aid route others suggested.
