Status changed to 'Eligibility Redetermination' on DEO CONNECT - what does this mean?
I logged into my CONNECT account this morning to check on my unemployment claim (been claiming for about 6 weeks now) and noticed my status has changed to 'Eligibility Redetermination.' This is new and wasn't there yesterday. Has anyone else experienced this status? Is this a good or bad sign? My payments have been normal so far, but I'm worried this might mean they're reviewing my case again or something. I'm freaking out a little because I really can't afford any interruptions in my benefits right now. Just paid rent and I'm cutting it close this month.

mine changed to that last month!!! freaked me out too but turned out it was just their quarterly review thing. they do this automatically to make sure ur still eligible. as long as nothing with ur employment situation changed it should be fine. keep claiming weeks like normal!!

•Thank you! That makes me feel a bit better. Do you know if it affected your payment schedule at all? My next payment is supposed to hit in 3 days and I'm really counting on it.

This is actually a standard process in the Florida DEO system. 'Eligibility Redetermination' means they're conducting a routine review of your claim, which typically happens quarterly. During this process, they verify that you're still meeting all requirements for benefits. A few important things to know: 1. Continue claiming your weeks as normal 2. Make sure you're completing and documenting your 5 required work search activities each week 3. Respond promptly to any fact finding questions that may appear in your CONNECT inbox 4. Check your determination status within 5-7 business days In most cases, there's no interruption to your benefits if everything is in order. However, if they find any discrepancies, you might receive a fact finding questionnaire that needs to be completed immediately.

•not always true... my cousin got that status and then they stopped his payments for 3 weeks while they "investigated" even though nothing changed with his situation. DEO is so frustrating!

I WENT THROUGH THIS LAST MONTH AND IT WAS A NIGHTMARE!!! They put my payments on hold for 2 weeks with no warning! Had to call them 46 TIMES before I finally got through to someone who could tell me what was happening. Apparently they were "verifying my work search efforts" even though I've submitted everything correctly every single week. DON'T WAIT for them to contact you. Be proactive and call them ASAP to make sure this doesn't delay your payments!!

•I experienced the same frustration trying to reach DEO. After days of trying, I found a service called Claimyr that actually got me through to a representative in under 30 minutes. It bypasses the busy signals and automatically calls until it gets through, then calls you when it has a representative on the line. Saved me hours of redial frustration. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj that shows how it works. I was skeptical but it actually worked when I needed to resolve my adjudication issue.

my sister had this happen last week, its fine her money still came through no problem but she said she had to do extra work search that week or something? not sure if thats related but just mentioning it

•To clarify, the regular requirement is 5 work search activities per week for regular unemployment benefits (RA). There's no increase during redetermination, but they do scrutinize the work search records more carefully during this period. It's possible your sister just noticed the requirements more because she knew her claim was under review.

I had eligibilty redetermination pop up on my account back in march. honestly it didnt effect anything for me at all. payments kept coming like normal and then after about 10 days it just went back to the regular status. i think sometimes the deo just runs these checks randomly

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know that I did receive my payment on time! The redetermination status is still there, but at least the money wasn't held up. I'm going to keep monitoring my account daily and make extra sure my work search activities are well-documented for this period. Thanks for all the helpful information!

is eligibility redetermination the same thing as adjudication?? mine says adjudication but sounds like the same thing you guys are talking about

Jamal Anderson
•No, they're actually different processes. Eligibility redetermination is a routine review that happens periodically to verify you still meet all requirements. Adjudication means there's a specific issue or question about your eligibility that needs to be resolved before benefits can be paid. Adjudication usually requires fact finding and can delay payments until resolved, while redetermination often proceeds without interrupting benefits unless they find a problem.

BTW - Make ABSOLUTELY SURE your identity verification with ID.me is current! Sometimes these redeterminations trigger another identity check. My account got locked during redetermination because my ID.me verification had expired and I didn't even know it!

my coworker told me his status changed to redtermination too and he got worried but nothing ever happened actually and then a few weeks later they just sent him an email saying everything was fine so maybe its just like a random audit thing they do?

I'm going through the same thing right now! My status just changed to "Eligibility Redetermination" yesterday and I was panicking. Reading through everyone's experiences here is really helpful - it sounds like it's mostly just a routine check they do. I've been extra careful about documenting my work search activities just in case they review them more closely during this period. Has anyone noticed if there are any specific things they focus on during these reviews? I want to make sure I'm covering all my bases while this is going on.

Hey Maxwell! I went through this exact same thing about 2 months ago. From what I experienced and learned from others here, they mainly focus on verifying your work search activities are legitimate and that your employment status hasn't changed. Make sure all your work search contacts are real companies with valid contact info - they sometimes call to verify. Also double-check that your weekly certifications match your actual situation (like if you did any part-time work, make sure you reported it correctly). The good news is most people seem to get through it without any payment interruptions as long as everything checks out. Just keep doing what you've been doing and stay on top of checking your CONNECT inbox daily for any fact-finding questionnaires!

•This is really helpful advice! I've been keeping detailed records of my work search activities, but I didn't think about them actually calling the companies to verify. That's a good point about making sure all the contact information is accurate. I'll go back and double-check all my entries to make sure everything is legitimate and the phone numbers/emails are correct. Thanks for sharing your experience - it definitely helps calm my nerves knowing that most people get through this process without major issues as long as they've been following the rules properly.

Just wanted to add my experience to help ease some worries - I had the same "Eligibility Redetermination" status appear about 8 weeks ago and I was terrified it would mess up my payments. Turns out it was completely routine! My payments continued without any delays, and after about 2 weeks the status just went back to normal. The only thing I did differently was make sure to keep really detailed notes on my work search activities during that period, just in case they asked for more documentation. I never heard anything from them and never had to provide any additional info. From what I can tell, this seems to be their way of doing periodic checks to make sure everything is still in order. As long as you've been honest and following all the requirements, you should be fine!

•Thanks for sharing your experience, Liam! It's really reassuring to hear from someone who went through this recently and had no issues. I'm in a similar situation right now - my status just changed to "Eligibility Redetermination" a few days ago and I was really worried about potential payment delays. Your advice about keeping detailed notes on work search activities is great - I've been doing that anyway but I'll make sure to be extra thorough during this period. It sounds like as long as we've been following all the rules and requirements, this is just their standard process for making sure everything is still legitimate. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your story!

I'm also going through this right now and it's been really stressful! My status changed to "Eligibility Redetermination" about a week ago and I've been checking my account obsessively every day. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been incredibly helpful though - it sounds like this is mostly just a routine review process that they do periodically. I've been extra careful about documenting everything and making sure my work search activities are all legitimate with correct contact information. Has anyone had experience with how long this status typically stays active? I'm hoping it resolves soon because the uncertainty is really getting to me, even though my payments have continued normally so far.

•I totally understand that stress, Lucas! I went through the exact same thing a few months back and the waiting and uncertainty was really hard to deal with. From what I've seen in this thread and my own experience, the status seems to stay active anywhere from 1-3 weeks typically. Most people are reporting that it resolves on its own without any action needed from you. The fact that your payments are still coming through is a really good sign - that usually means they're just doing their routine verification and haven't found any red flags. Try to stay consistent with your weekly certifications and work search documentation, but it sounds like you're already on top of that. Hang in there, it should clear up soon!

I'm currently dealing with this exact same situation! My status changed to "Eligibility Redetermination" three days ago and I've been really anxious about it. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been so helpful - it's reassuring to know that this seems to be a pretty standard routine review that DEO does periodically. I've been keeping meticulous records of my work search activities and double-checking that all my contact information is accurate, especially after reading Miguel's advice about them potentially calling employers to verify. It's good to hear that most people's payments continue normally during this process. I'm going to try to stay calm and just keep doing everything I've been doing while monitoring my account daily. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - it really helps to know we're not alone in dealing with this!

•Lucy, I completely understand that panic feeling! I just went through this exact same thing about a month ago and had the same reaction when I first saw that status change. What really helped me was keeping a spreadsheet of all my work search activities with dates, company names, contact info, and what type of activity it was (online application, phone call, etc.). I also took screenshots of my applications and saved confirmation emails just in case they asked for proof. The good news is that like everyone else has mentioned, my payments continued normally throughout the whole process and the status went back to normal after about 10 days. Just stay consistent with your weekly claims and try not to check your account obsessively like I did - it'll resolve itself as long as you've been following the rules!

I'm currently experiencing this too - my status changed to "Eligibility Redetermination" yesterday and I was really worried until I found this thread! It's incredibly helpful to read everyone's experiences and see that this appears to be a routine quarterly review process. I've been collecting unemployment for about 7 weeks now without any issues, so seeing this new status definitely caught me off guard. Based on what I'm reading here, it sounds like the most important things are to keep documenting work search activities thoroughly, ensure all employer contact information is accurate, and continue filing weekly claims as normal. I'm relieved to see that most people's payments weren't interrupted during this process. I'm going to take the advice here and create a detailed spreadsheet of all my work search efforts with dates, company details, and confirmation screenshots. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - it really helps reduce the anxiety knowing that others have successfully gone through this same process!

•Hey Shelby! I'm so glad you found this thread too - it really is a relief to see how many people have gone through this successfully! I had the same exact experience when my status changed last month. Your plan to create a detailed spreadsheet is perfect - that's exactly what I did and it gave me peace of mind knowing I had everything organized just in case they asked for documentation. One thing I'd add is to make sure you're also keeping track of any networking events or job fairs you attend, as those count as valid work search activities too. The waiting period can be nerve-wracking, but based on everyone's experiences here, it sounds like as long as you've been honest and following all the requirements, this should resolve without any issues. Keep us posted on how it goes!

I'm taking all the advice here seriously - keeping detailed records of my work search activities, double-checking that all employer contact info is legitimate, and continuing to file my weekly certifications as normal. I just wanted to jump in and say how incredibly helpful this entire thread has been! I'm dealing with the same "Eligibility Redetermination" status change that happened to my account yesterday, and I was honestly terrified that something was wrong with my claim. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been such a relief - it's clear that this is just a routine review process that DEO does periodically to verify eligibility. Based on all the great advice shared here, I'm going to make sure I'm extra diligent with documenting my work search activities, verify that all employer contact information is accurate, and definitely check my ID.me verification status. It's so reassuring to see that the vast majority of people continue receiving their payments without interruption during this process. One thing I really appreciate about this community is how people are sharing both positive and challenging experiences - it gives a realistic picture of what to expect. While most seem to go smoothly, it's good to know that some people have had delays so I can be prepared to contact DEO proactively if needed. This community really is amazing - everyone sharing their real experiences makes such a difference when you're dealing with these stressful DEO processes. Your plan sounds perfect, and I especially agree about being prepared to contact them proactively if needed. One small tip I'd add - I kept a simple log of when I checked my account each day during the redetermination period, just so I could track any changes or patterns.
