DQ redetermination qualification on EDD payment activity - what does this mean?
Just checked my UI Online account and noticed something new on my payment activity screen. It shows "DQ redetermination qualification" next to my latest week. I have no clue what this means - is this good or bad? My payment is still pending and I'm super confused because I got no messages or notifications explaining this. Been certifying normally for 4 weeks now after getting laid off from my warehouse job. Anyone know if this means I'm getting paid soon or if there's a problem with my claim? Starting to worry because rent is due next week!

Omg that's such a relief! Thank you! Did you have to call them or do anything to make this happen? Or did it just automatically update to paid?

This happened to me back in January. The DQ redetermination qualification status means nothing until the money hits your account! I had that status for 3 WEEKS with nothing happening. Had to call EDD every single day just to get someone to actually push the payment through. Their systems are completely broken and nothing happens automatically like it should.\n\nThe problem is YOU CANT GET THROUGH ON THE PHONE! I tried for days hitting redial hundreds of times and always got the \

That sounds awful! I really hope I don't have to go through that. Did you eventually get your money?

Yes but only after I figured out how to actually talk to someone. I used this service called Claimyr that got me through to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes instead of doing the endless redial game. Found it after someone mentioned it here. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km\n\nOnly way I finally got it resolved because the rep was able to manually release the payment once I explained the situation. Sometimes things get stuck in their system and just sit there until someone pushes it through.

This makes so much sense now! I think what happened is that I accidentally put that I wasn't available for work one day when I actually was (I misunderstood the question). Then I called and explained the mistake to them about 10 days ago. Sounds like they fixed it! Thank you for the detailed explanation!

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know that my payment status changed from pending to paid this morning! The money isn't in my account yet but at least it's showing as paid now. Thanks for all your help explaining what was going on!

Great news! The funds should appear in your account within 24-48 hours, depending on whether you have direct deposit or the Money Network card. Glad to hear it worked out for you!

Guess u got lucky! Some of us have to fight for every penny from EDD while others just get it automatically. The system is so inconsistent it's ridiculous.

Congrats on getting it resolved! I'm dealing with something similar right now - my account shows "DQ redetermination qualification" for the past week and I'm hoping it means the same thing. Did you notice any other changes in your UI Online account before the status switched to paid, or did it just suddenly change overnight?

•Hey @Liam O'Sullivan! I just went through this exact same situation. For me, it changed pretty suddenly - I checked in the morning and it still said "DQ redetermination qualification" with pending status, then when I logged in later that same day it had switched to paid. I didn't notice any other changes or updates in my account beforehand. It sounds like you're probably in the same boat I was - just waiting for them to process it! Based on what everyone else shared here, it seems like most people get it resolved within a few days to a week. Fingers crossed yours updates soon!

This is so helpful to read! I'm currently dealing with the same "DQ redetermination qualification" status and was panicking thinking something was wrong with my claim. Seeing that so many people got paid after seeing this status gives me hope. @Ezra Beard thanks for posting this and updating us - it really helps to know what to expect. I've been unemployed for 6 weeks now and every little thing makes me nervous about my benefits. Hopefully mine processes as smoothly as yours did!

•@Giovanni Rossi I totally understand that anxiety! I went through the same thing when I first started claiming benefits after losing my retail job. Every status change or delay had me worried I did something wrong. But honestly, seeing all these stories here really shows that DQ "redetermination qualification seems" to be a pretty normal part of the process when they re'just double-checking something on your claim. The fact that so many people in this thread got paid after seeing this status is really reassuring. Hang in there - 6 weeks is tough but it sounds like you re'on the right track!

I'm going through this exact same thing right now! My account has been showing "DQ redetermination qualification" for the past 3 days and I've been so stressed about it. Reading through all these responses is such a relief - it sounds like this is actually a good sign that they're fixing whatever issue they found. @Ezra Beard thanks for sharing your experience and keeping us updated! It's really helpful to see the timeline of how yours played out. I'm hoping mine resolves just as quickly. Been out of work for 2 months now after my restaurant closed down, so every day counts. Fingers crossed I see that status change to paid soon too!

•@QuantumQuasar I'm in the exact same boat! My account has been showing "DQ redetermination qualification" for about a week now and I was starting to panic thinking I messed something up on my certification. But after reading through everyone's experiences here, it really does seem like this is just part of their review process and usually ends with getting paid. The restaurant industry has been so brutal lately - I'm sorry you're dealing with a closure on top of everything else. From what I've seen in this thread, most people got their payments within 2-7 days after seeing this status, so hopefully we'll both see some movement soon! It's such a relief to know we're not alone in this.

This thread is incredibly helpful! I'm dealing with the exact same "DQ redetermination qualification" status right now and was terrified I had done something wrong. Reading everyone's experiences here is such a huge relief - it sounds like this is actually EDD fixing issues rather than creating new problems. I've been unemployed for about 5 weeks after getting laid off from my office job and every little change in the system sends me into panic mode. @Ezra Beard thank you so much for posting this and following up with updates! It's so reassuring to see that yours got resolved quickly. Based on all the responses here, it seems like most people see their payments go through within a few days to a week after this status appears. Really hoping mine follows the same pattern because I'm definitely in the same stressed-about-rent situation you were in!

•@Keisha Williams I m'so glad this thread is helping you too! I just went through this exact same thing about a month ago and had the same panic reaction when I first saw DQ "redetermination qualification on" my account. Like you, I was convinced I had messed something up on my certification. But honestly, after going through it and seeing all these similar experiences, it really does seem like it s'just their way of saying we "re'double-checking something and then we ll'pay you. Mine" took about 4 days total from when the status first appeared to when I actually got the money in my account. The waiting is definitely the worst part, especially when you re'stressed about bills! But based on everyone s'stories here, it sounds like you re'on the right track. Hang in there - unemployment is stressful enough without EDD s'confusing status messages making it worse!

I'm currently seeing this exact same status on my account too! Been showing "DQ redetermination qualification" for about 2 days now and I was getting really worried until I found this thread. It's such a relief to see so many people had positive outcomes after seeing this status. I got laid off from my manufacturing job about 3 weeks ago and this is my first time dealing with unemployment benefits, so every little thing in the system confuses me. @Ezra Beard thanks for posting this and updating everyone - it really helps to know what to expect! Based on all these responses it sounds like this is actually a good sign that they're processing payments rather than holding them up. Fingers crossed mine changes to paid soon too!

•@Diego Flores I m'so glad you found this thread too! I just started seeing the same DQ "redetermination qualification status" on my account yesterday and was freaking out thinking I had done something wrong with my certification. Reading through everyone s'experiences here has been such a huge relief - it really seems like this is just part of their normal review process before releasing payments. Being new to unemployment benefits makes every status change feel scary, but seeing how many people got paid after this status gives me so much hope! Manufacturing layoffs are rough - I hope you re'hanging in there. From what I m'seeing in all these responses, most people got their payments within 3-7 days, so hopefully we ll'both see that change to paid status soon!

This thread is a lifesaver! I've been seeing "DQ redetermination qualification" on my account for the past 4 days and was absolutely convinced I had screwed something up on my weekly certification. I've been unemployed for about 7 weeks after my retail store closed permanently, and every weird status change sends me into full panic mode about losing my benefits. Reading through everyone's experiences here is such a huge relief - it sounds like this is actually EDD's way of saying they're reviewing and fixing something before paying out, not that there's a problem with my claim. @Ezra Beard thank you so much for posting this question and following up with your updates! It really helps to see the whole timeline of how yours played out. Based on all these responses, it seems like most people see their status change to paid within a week, which gives me hope that mine will resolve soon too. The waiting is definitely the hardest part, especially when rent and bills are piling up!

•@Oliver Fischer I totally feel your stress about this! I went through the exact same thing about 6 weeks ago - seeing that DQ "redetermination qualification status" pop up and immediately thinking I had messed up my certification somehow. The anxiety is so real, especially when you re'already dealing with job loss and financial pressure. But honestly, after going through it myself and now seeing all these similar stories in this thread, it s'clear that this status is actually a positive sign that they re'actively working on your claim rather than it just sitting there ignored. Mine took about 5 days from first seeing the status to getting paid, and I didn t'have to do anything - it just updated automatically. The retail industry has been hit so hard lately with all the store closures, so I really feel for what you re'going through. Based on everyone s'experiences here, you re'definitely on the right track and should see movement soon. The waiting really is the worst part, but it sounds like you re'almost through it!

Just wanted to add my experience to help others who might be going through this! I had the exact same "DQ redetermination qualification" status show up on my account about 3 months ago and was absolutely terrified I had done something wrong. Like many others here, I had accidentally answered one of the certification questions incorrectly (said I wasn't able to work when I actually was - those questions are so confusing!). I called EDD to correct it and then saw this status appear about a week later. It stayed there for 6 days before switching to paid, and the money hit my account the next day. No additional notifications or messages, it just updated on its own. The worst part is definitely the waiting and not knowing what's happening, but based on all these stories it really does seem like this status means they're actively fixing whatever the issue was. For anyone currently dealing with this - try not to stress too much (easier said than done, I know!). It sounds like this is actually a good sign that your claim is being processed rather than ignored!

•@Cynthia Love This is so reassuring to hear! I m'currently dealing with the same situation - my account has been showing DQ "redetermination qualification for" the past 2 days and I was convinced I had somehow messed up my claim. Like you, I think I may have answered one of those certification questions wrong they (really are confusing! .)It s'such a relief to know that this status actually means they re'actively working on fixing the issue rather than my claim being stuck in limbo. Six days feels like forever when you re'stressed about bills, but knowing there s'light at the end of the tunnel really helps. Thank you for sharing your timeline and experience - it s'exactly what I needed to hear right now! The fact that it resolved automatically without you having to do anything else gives me hope that mine will too.

I'm so grateful I found this thread! I'm currently seeing the exact same "DQ redetermination qualification" status on my account as of yesterday and was having a complete meltdown thinking I had somehow ruined my claim. I've been unemployed for about 5 weeks after getting laid off from my tech job and this is my first time ever filing for unemployment, so every little status change feels terrifying. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been such a huge relief - it sounds like this is actually EDD working to resolve issues rather than creating new problems. The fact that so many people got paid after seeing this status gives me so much hope! @Ezra Beard thank you for posting this question and keeping us all updated with your progress. It really helps to see the whole journey from start to finish. Based on all these responses, it seems like most people see their payments come through within 3-7 days, which makes the waiting a little more bearable. Fingers crossed mine follows the same pattern because rent is definitely looming! It's amazing how this one thread has turned my panic into cautious optimism.

•@Oliver Schmidt I completely understand that panic! I just went through this exact same thing last month and had the same meltdown reaction when I first saw DQ "redetermination qualification appear" on my account. Being new to unemployment makes every status change feel like a potential disaster, especially when you re'already stressed about finances. But honestly, after reading through this entire thread and seeing so many similar positive outcomes, it s'clear that this status is actually a really good sign! It means they re'actively reviewing and fixing whatever small issue they found, rather than your claim just sitting there ignored. The tech industry layoffs have been brutal lately, so I totally feel for what you re'going through. From what I m'seeing here, most people got their payments within a week of this status appearing, and many didn t'have to do anything additional - it just resolved automatically. Try to hang in there - the waiting is definitely the hardest part, but it sounds like you re'almost through it! This thread really is a lifesaver for understanding what these confusing status messages actually mean.
