PA UC wages under review message after issue resolved - final step before payment?
I'm confused about what's happening with my unemployment claim. Today I got two different notifications from UC. First one said they've closed my issue and my reason for separation was found allowable (I was laid off due to budget cuts). They even confirmed I'm financially eligible based on my previous work. But then I also got a second message saying my 'wages are under review' which I've never seen before. Does this mean they're just double-checking my income before releasing payments? Or is this a whole new issue I need to worry about? My rent is due next week and I'm stressing about when I'll actually see any money hit my account. Has anyone dealt with this 'wages under review' status after already being told you're financially eligible?

This is actually pretty normal in the PA UC process. The 'wages under review' message usually means they're doing a final verification of your quarterly wages before releasing payment. Since they already told you you're financially eligible, this is typically just a formality. In my experience, this lasted about 3-4 business days before my payments were released. The system runs several checks before funds are actually disbursed.

•Thank you!! That makes me feel so much better. I was panicking thinking this was going to be another whole issue delaying things. Do you know if there's anything I need to do while they're reviewing the wages?

•This is correct advice - definitely continue filing your weekly claims even while they're reviewing your wages. The system will hold those payments until the review is complete, and then release everything you're eligible for at once (as long as you've been filing).

Glad you got approved! I'm in week 8 of waiting for them to resolve my separation issue. This system is ridiculous!

•8 WEEKS?!? That's insane! Have you tried contacting them directly? It took me 3 straight days of calling to finally get through to a person who could help with my claim.

I went through this exact same situation in February. The "wages under review" is actually a good sign because it means they're calculating exactly how much you should receive. In my case, they were verifying my last employer reported my wages correctly. It took exactly 6 business days from that message until I saw my first payment hit my Money Network card. You should still file your weekly certifications during this time - they'll release all eligible weeks once the review is complete. One thing to watch for - make sure you've completed your work search activities each week (at least 2 per week) and are recording them in your dashboard. They're being super strict about this in 2025.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation! I've been doing my work search activities religiously and keeping good records. Did you get back pay for the weeks during the review period? Also - did they let you know when the review was complete or did the money just show up?

The UC system is a complete joke. They tell you you're eligible then throw another roadblock in your way! My wages were "under review" for THREE WEEKS even after they told me I was financially eligible. I had to borrow money from family to pay bills while waiting. Don't count on anything until you actually see the money in your account.

•While I understand your frustration, three weeks isn't typical for the wages review process. Usually it's 3-7 business days. It sounds like your claim might have had some specific issues that triggered additional verification. The system isn't perfect but generally works as designed for most people.

when i had this happen last year it was because my employer reported different wages than what i claimed. they ended up having to contact my employer again to verify everything. took about 10 days total

•That's interesting - I hope that's not what's happening in my case. My employer and I parted on good terms so I don't think they'd dispute anything, but who knows what happens behind the scenes. Did UC contact you to tell you there was a discrepancy or did you just have to wait?

For anyone struggling to get through to PA UC by phone to check on situations like this, I recently used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that connected me with an agent in under 20 minutes after spending days getting busy signals. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. It was super helpful in my case because I had a similar "wages under review" situation that was taking longer than usual, and the agent was able to tell me exactly what was happening.

•Does that actually work? I've never been able to get through no matter what time I call.

•Yes, it worked for me and saved me days of frustration. The agent I spoke with was able to see notes on my account that weren't visible in my online portal.

There are actually TWO different eligibility determinations with PA UC that people often confuse: 1) Financial eligibility - based on your earning history in the base year 2) Non-financial eligibility - based on your reason for separation It sounds like you've passed both, but they're doing a final verification of your wages. This happens because employers pay unemployment taxes based on wages reported, so they're extra careful to get the numbers right. This is normally a quick process unless there's a discrepancy between what you reported and what your employer reported. Keep filing your weekly claims and you should see payments soon!

•This explanation makes so much sense! Thank you for breaking it down. I definitely didn't understand the two different determinations before.

•That's interesting information. PA UC did implement some system changes this spring, though I hadn't heard of major delays resulting from it. Still good context to have.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know my funds were released today! It took exactly 5 business days from when I got the "wages under review" message. They released payment for all the weeks I had claimed at once. Thanks everyone for the help and advice!

Congratulations on getting your payments released! This is such a helpful thread for anyone going through the PA UC process. I'm currently dealing with a similar situation where my initial eligibility was approved but now I'm seeing different status messages that are confusing me. It's really reassuring to see that the "wages under review" step is typically just a final verification and not a new roadblock. The fact that you got all your back payments at once is encouraging too. Thanks for taking the time to update everyone - it really helps to know the actual timeline people are experiencing!

•I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm going through almost the exact same thing right now - got approved for eligibility but then saw a new status message that had me worried. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been incredibly helpful. It sounds like these final verification steps are pretty standard, even though they're nerve-wracking when you're waiting for your first payment. @Carmella Fromis thanks for sharing your timeline and keeping us updated - that 5 business day timeframe gives me hope that mine will resolve soon too!

This is such a helpful thread! I'm currently in week 2 of waiting on a similar wages review after getting my eligibility determination. It's really reassuring to see that this is a normal part of the process and not something to panic about. The timeline everyone shared (3-7 business days typically) gives me hope that I should see movement soon. I've been continuing to file my weekly claims like suggested here, and I'm keeping detailed records of my work search activities. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - it really helps to know what to expect when you're going through this for the first time!

•I'm in a similar boat - just got my eligibility approved last week but now seeing the wages review status. It's so nerve-wracking when you're counting on that money! This whole thread has been a lifesaver though. Knowing that it's typically just 3-7 business days for the final verification makes me feel so much better. I was starting to worry they found some new issue with my claim. Keep us posted on how it goes for you!

I'm currently going through this exact same situation! Got my eligibility determination approved yesterday but then saw the "wages under review" message pop up this morning. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been such a relief - I was starting to panic that something went wrong with my claim. It sounds like this is just the final step before they release payments, which makes sense that they'd want to double-check everything before sending out money. I've been keeping up with my weekly certifications and work search requirements, so hopefully I'll see the same 5-7 day timeline that most people experienced here. Thanks to everyone who shared their stories - it really helps to know what's normal when you're new to the UC system!

•Welcome to the club! I just went through this exact same anxiety spiral last week when I saw that wages review message after getting approved. This thread has been such a godsend - it's amazing how much stress comes from not knowing what's normal in this process. The fact that you're staying on top of your weekly certs and work search is exactly what you should be doing. Based on what everyone here shared, it really does seem like this is just their final verification step. Fingers crossed we both see our payments soon!

I'm dealing with this exact same situation right now! Just got my eligibility approved on Monday but then saw the "wages under review" status yesterday. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been incredibly reassuring - I had no idea this was such a normal part of the process. It's wild how stressful these status messages can be when you're waiting for your first payment and don't know what to expect. I've been diligently filing my weekly claims and keeping detailed work search records, so hopefully I'll see the same timeline everyone else experienced. Thanks to everyone who shared their stories and especially to @Carmella Fromis for providing that update - knowing it actually resolved in 5 days gives me so much hope!

•I'm in the exact same boat as you! Just saw my wages review status pop up this morning after getting my eligibility approved earlier this week. This thread has been such a lifesaver - I had no idea this was a standard step in the process and was starting to worry they found some new issue with my claim. It's so helpful to see the actual timelines people experienced (that 3-7 business day range seems pretty consistent). I've been staying on top of my weekly certifications and work search activities, so fingers crossed we both see our payments soon. The waiting is definitely the hardest part when you're counting on that money for bills!

I'm currently experiencing this exact same thing! Got my eligibility determination approved earlier this week, but then the "wages under review" status appeared yesterday. This whole thread has been incredibly helpful - I had no idea this was such a standard part of the PA UC process. It's amazing how these status messages can cause so much anxiety when you're already stressed about finances and waiting for your first payment. Based on everyone's experiences here, it sounds like this 3-7 business day timeline for wage verification is pretty typical, which gives me hope that my situation will resolve soon too. I've been keeping up with my weekly certifications and documenting my work search activities religiously. Really appreciate everyone sharing their actual timelines and outcomes - it makes such a difference to know what's normal versus what might be a real problem with your claim!

•I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Just got the "wages under review" message this morning after my eligibility was approved earlier this week. This thread has been such a relief to find - I was starting to panic that there was some new problem with my claim. It's really encouraging to see that most people here experienced the 3-7 business day timeline for this final verification step. I've also been staying current with my weekly claims and work search requirements, so hopefully I'll see the same positive outcome everyone else did. The uncertainty is definitely stressful when you're counting on these payments, but reading all these real experiences makes me feel so much more confident that this is just part of the normal process!

This is such a valuable thread for anyone going through the PA UC process! I'm currently in the same situation - just got my eligibility approved but now seeing the "wages under review" status. Reading everyone's experiences here has been incredibly reassuring. It's clear this is just a standard final verification step, not a new roadblock. The consistent 3-7 business day timeline that most people shared gives me realistic expectations instead of just worrying endlessly. I've been keeping up with my weekly certifications and work search activities while waiting. It's amazing how much stress comes from not knowing what's normal in this system - threads like this are so helpful for people navigating UC for the first time. Thanks to everyone who shared their actual experiences and timelines!

•I'm so glad this thread exists too! I just started my UC claim process last week and seeing all these real experiences from people who've actually gone through it is incredibly valuable. The PA UC system can be so confusing with all these different status messages, and it's really hard to know what's normal versus what might be a problem. Reading that the "wages under review" step is actually a good sign (meaning you've passed the major hurdles) makes me feel much more prepared for when I hopefully reach that point in my claim. It's also really helpful to know about continuing the weekly certifications during the review period - I wouldn't have thought to do that without seeing everyone's advice here!
