What does eligible redetermined mean for unemployment Washington ESD claim status?
Just checked my Washington ESD account this morning and my claim status changed to 'eligible redetermined' - what exactly does this mean? I've been getting weekly payments for about 6 weeks now without any issues. Yesterday it just said 'eligible' but now it has this redetermined part added. Should I be worried that something is wrong with my claim? I haven't received any notices or letters about needing to provide additional information.

Eligible redetermined basically means Washington ESD reviewed your claim and decided you're still qualified for benefits. It usually happens after they investigate something that made them question your eligibility initially.

•That's a relief! Do you know how long it takes for payments to start again after this status change?

Sofia Torres
•Usually within a week or two if you've been filing your weekly claims. Make sure you keep doing those even during the review process.

I had this happen to me too. They had questioned whether I was actually laid off or quit my job. After reviewing my employer's response, they determined I was still eligible hence the 'redetermined' part.

•Did you get back pay for the weeks they held up your benefits during the review?
0 coins
GalacticGuardian
•Yes, I got all the back payments for the weeks I filed claims during the review period. Just took about 2 weeks after the redetermination.

If you're having trouble getting through to Washington ESD to get more details about your redetermination, I used this service called Claimyr that actually got me connected to a real person. They have a website at claimyr.com and there's a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works.

•How much does something like that cost though? I'm already struggling financially waiting for my benefits to restart.

•They don't ask for any personal information upfront and it's worth it when you need actual answers about your claim status. Better than calling 200 times and getting hung up on.

Don't panic! Eligible redetermined usually means Washington ESD reviewed your claim again for some reason and confirmed you're still eligible for benefits. This can happen for routine quality control checks or if they needed to verify something about your work history or wages.

•Thanks for the quick response! So my payments should continue normally then? I was afraid they were going to stop my benefits.

•Yes, as long as it says eligible redetermined and not something like disqualified or pending, you should be fine. Keep filing your weekly claims as usual.

I had the same thing happen to me last month. Mine changed to eligible redetermined and I freaked out thinking I did something wrong. Turns out they just had to reverify my identity through ID.me again because of some security update.
0 coins
Gianni Serpent
•Did they send you any notification about the identity verification or did you just have to figure it out?

Olivia Kay
•They sent me a letter about a week later explaining what happened, but my payments never stopped. The status change happened first.

Eligible redetermined typically occurs when Washington ESD conducts a redetermination review of your claim. This could be triggered by several factors: employer protest of your claim, wage discrepancies found during routine audits, or updates to your employment information. The good news is that they redetermined you as eligible, meaning you passed whatever review they conducted.

•Is there a way to find out what triggered the review? I'm curious what made them look at my claim again.

Joshua Hellan
•You can try calling Washington ESD to ask, but they don't always provide specific details about what triggered internal reviews. If it was an employer protest, you would typically receive formal notification.

•Good luck getting through to anyone at Washington ESD on the phone. I've been trying for weeks to get answers about my claim status and can never get past the busy signal.

The most common reasons for redetermination are: 1) Employer disputed your separation reason 2) Income verification issues 3) Job search requirement questions 4) Work availability concerns. The good news is they've decided in your favor.

Dylan Wright
•That makes sense. I think it was probably because my employer initially said I quit when I was actually laid off due to budget cuts.
0 coins
Miguel Diaz
•Exactly, that's a very common scenario. Employers sometimes report the wrong separation reason initially, then Washington ESD has to investigate and make a proper determination.

•This happened to my sister last year. Her employer said she was fired for cause but she was actually laid off. Took them 6 weeks to sort it out.

FINALLY someone explains this! I've been seeing this status for weeks and had no clue what it meant. The Washington ESD website is so confusing with all their terminology.

•Right?? They use all these technical terms but never explain what they actually mean for regular people.

I've been dealing with Washington ESD phone issues for months until I found this service called Claimyr that helps you get through to actual agents. They have this system that handles the calling for you - check out claimyr.com and there's a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. Finally got my questions answered about my claim status issues.

•How much does something like that cost? I'm already broke from being unemployed.

•I understand being tight on money, but honestly getting my issues resolved was worth it. The service is pretty straightforward to use and saved me hours of frustration.

•That's actually really helpful to know about. I might need to use something like that if I can't get answers about this redetermination thing.

Just keep filing those weekly claims even if the payments are delayed. That's the most important thing. I made the mistake of stopping my weekly claims during a review period and lost out on benefits for those weeks.

Dylan Wright
•Good to know! I've been filing them but wasn't sure if I should continue. Thanks for the heads up.

•Yeah never stop filing even during adjudication or reviews. You can't go back and claim those weeks later.

Does anyone know if there's a way to see more details about what the redetermination was specifically about? My online account just shows the status change but no explanation.
0 coins
Miguel Diaz
•You should receive a written determination letter in the mail within a few days that explains the specific reasons and findings.
0 coins
Paolo Longo
•Ah okay, I'll watch for that. Mail has been slow lately so probably just hasn't arrived yet.

•Mine took like 10 days to arrive. If you need the info sooner, that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier might be able to help you get through to ask about it.

ELIGIBLE REDETERMINED usually means they looked at your claim again and you're still good to go. I wouldn't stress about it unless you get a letter saying otherwise. Washington ESD does random reviews all the time.
0 coins
Gianni Serpent
•That makes me feel better. I was worried I somehow messed up my weekly claims or something.
0 coins
Emily Nguyen-Smith
•Nah, if you messed up your weekly claims it would show as pending or under review, not eligible redetermined.

James Johnson
Could be they had to redetermine your benefit amount based on updated wage information. Sometimes employers report wages late and Washington ESD has to recalculate your weekly benefit amount. Did your payment amount change at all?
0 coins
Gianni Serpent
•No, my payment amount is exactly the same as it's been. Still getting $387 per week.
0 coins
James Johnson
•Then it's probably just a routine review. If your payment amount and status both stayed the same, you're likely fine.

Oliver Becker
I'm in a similar situation but my status still says 'under review' for 3 weeks now. How long did yours take before it changed to eligible redetermined?
0 coins
Dylan Wright
•Mine was under review for about 5 weeks before it changed. It felt like forever but apparently that's pretty normal.
0 coins
Oliver Becker
•Ugh okay so I probably have a couple more weeks to wait. This is so stressful when you're trying to pay bills.
0 coins
GalacticGuardian
•Hang in there. If you're eligible, you'll get all the back pay for the weeks you filed during the review.

The Washington ESD system is so confusing with all these different status messages. Half the time I don't know what any of them mean and when I try to call for clarification I get hung up on after waiting for an hour.

•That's exactly why I ended up using Claimyr. The constant busy signals and dropped calls were driving me crazy when I just needed simple answers about my claim.

What if your status shows 'eligible redetermined' but you disagree with something in the determination letter? Can you still appeal?
0 coins
Miguel Diaz
•Yes, you can appeal any determination within 30 days of the date on the letter, even if it's favorable to you. Though I'm not sure why you'd want to appeal a positive decision.
0 coins
CosmicCowboy
•Well, they might have approved me but for a lower benefit amount than I think I should get. Just wondering about options.
0 coins
Natasha Orlova
•Yeah you can definitely appeal the benefit amount calculation if you think it's wrong. Just make sure you have documentation to support your case.

Just to add more context - redeterminations can also happen if there's a change in federal or state unemployment rules that affects your claim. Washington ESD might need to review existing claims to ensure they comply with updated regulations.
0 coins
Gianni Serpent
•That makes sense. There have been a lot of changes to unemployment rules over the past few years.
0 coins
Henry Delgado
•Exactly. The system has been through so many updates that periodic reviews are pretty common now.

One thing to watch out for - make sure you're still meeting all the job search requirements during this period. Just because you're eligible doesn't mean you can slack off on the job hunting.

Dylan Wright
•Good point. I've been keeping up with my job search log but wasn't sure if I needed to during the review period.

•Yeah, you always need to keep meeting the requirements unless they specifically tell you otherwise. Better safe than sorry.

For anyone still concerned about claim status changes, you can always check your correspondence inbox in your Washington ESD account online. Any formal notifications about your claim status would appear there first before you receive physical mail.
0 coins
Gianni Serpent
•Just checked and there's nothing new in my correspondence inbox, so I guess it really is just a routine review.
0 coins
Joshua Hellan
•That's a good sign. Keep filing your weekly claims on schedule and monitor for any new correspondence.

I swear Washington ESD makes these status changes just to stress people out. Like why can't they just say 'routine review completed' instead of 'eligible redetermined' which sounds scary?

For anyone still confused about Washington ESD terminology, 'eligible redetermined' is basically their way of saying 'we looked at your case again and you're still good to go.' It's actually one of the better status updates you can get.

Bottom line: eligible redetermined means you're still eligible for benefits after some kind of review. As long as you keep getting your payments and don't receive any letters asking for additional information, you should be fine. Just continue filing your weekly claims as normal.

Washington ESD really needs to improve their communication about these status changes. A simple explanation of what each status means would save everyone a lot of stress.

I went through the exact same thing last month! My status changed from "eligible" to "eligible redetermined" and I panicked thinking I'd done something wrong. Turns out Washington ESD had to verify some information with my previous employer about my separation date. The whole process took about 3 weeks but I kept getting my regular payments the entire time. The "redetermined" part just means they looked at your case again and confirmed you're still eligible - it's actually good news! Just keep filing your weekly claims like normal and you should be fine.
