ID.me verification stuck - front ID camera won't load but back works for Florida DEO

Is anybody else dealing with this weird ID.me issue for Florida DEO? The system lets me scan the BACK of my driver's license just fine, but when I try to upload the FRONT side, the camera won't even load! That little icon in the top left corner (the one that appears when scanning the back) doesn't even show up. I've tried refreshing the page 3 times, used 2 different browsers, and even borrowed my daughter's laptop. Nothing works! My claim is on hold until I complete the identity verification and I'm worried about missing payments. This is so frustrating especially since I'm down to my last $240 in savings. Has anyone found a workaround for this camera loading issue?

OMG YES!!! I had this EXACT problem last week. The camera for the front side wouldn't load no matter what. I kept getting stuck in this loop for 2 days and almost gave up. Tried my phone, tablet, everything!

Did you figure out how to fix it? I've been stuck for 3 days now and my bills are coming due next week!

I ran into this last month. For me, the issue was browser-related. Try these steps: 1. Clear your browser cache completely 2. Disable any ad blockers or privacy extensions 3. Make sure camera permissions are enabled for the site 4. Try using Chrome specifically (worked better than Firefox for me) 5. If using a laptop, close the lid completely and reopen it (forces camera reset) If nothing else works, you may need to use the ID.me video chat verification option instead. It's at the bottom of the page in small text - "Verify with an ID.me Trusted Referee"

I totally forgot about the trusted referee option!! That's actually what ended up working for me. It was a 45 minute wait in the video chat queue but the rep was super nice and got it done in like 3 minutes once connected.

This is a known issue with the ID.me system when interfacing with Florida's DEO CONNECT portal. The camera activation requires specific browser permissions and sometimes fails to initialize properly. I recommend trying an entirely different device if possible (like a smartphone instead of computer). If you're still having problems completing ID.me verification, it's critical to get it resolved quickly as your benefits will remain on hold until verification is complete. One alternative is to schedule a video call with ID.me support directly through their help center.

Thanks for explaining this! I tried using my phone but it had the same issue - works for back ID scan but front camera won't initialize. I'll try to find the video call option.

I had similar issues last year when doing my ID.me verification. So annoying! I know people hate hearing this, but have you tried turning your computer completely off and restarting? Sometimes the camera gets stuck in a weird state.

If you're still struggling with ID.me and need to speak with someone at DEO about your claim being on hold, I'd recommend Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in the exact same situation - verification issues had my claim stuck for weeks and couldn't get through to DEO. Claimyr got me connected to a live agent in about 25 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj The agent was able to put a note on my account about the ID.me technical issues and gave me alternative verification options. Saved me from missing a rent payment while the ID.me issues got sorted out.

I've never heard of this service before. Does it actually work? I've been calling DEO for days and either get disconnected or told the queue is full.

Yes, it definitely worked for me. I was skeptical too, but after trying to call DEO myself for over a week with no luck, I was desperate. Got through to an actual helpful person who resolved my issue. The video demo on their site shows exactly how it works.

anyone else notice that these verification problems always happen when ur claim is already on hold?? its never when everything is running smoothly i swear DEO does this on purpose to make people give up

Update to my earlier comment: Another thing to try is checking if your webcam is being used by another application. Sometimes Zoom, Teams, or other video apps can keep the camera locked even after you close them. Try rebooting your computer and going straight to ID.me without opening any other programs first. Also, make sure your camera isn't physically covered - some laptops have privacy shutters or covers that can be easy to miss.

This was it!!! I had Zoom still running in the background from a job interview earlier. Closed it completely, restarted my computer, and the camera loaded right up. I was able to complete the verification! Thank you so much for this suggestion!

So glad you got it fixed! Just FYI it usually takes 24-48 hours for the verification to be processed by DEO after you complete it with ID.me. Don't panic if your claim still shows "on hold" tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll try to be patient. This whole process has been so stressful!
