DEO claim pending adjudication for 5+ months, no benefits received. Help!
I've been waiting for over 5 months now and my unemployment claim is still pending adjudication. I haven't received any benefits yet. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to speed up the process or get in touch with someone who can help?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat for 4 months. It's ridiculous how long they make us wait. Have you tried calling them? It's a nightmare to get through, but it might help.

•I've tried calling so many times, but I can never get through. It's always busy or I'm on hold forever. Did you have any luck getting through?

•It took me like 50 tries, no joke. I finally got through at like 7:59 AM right when they opened. Keep trying, its frustrating but worth it when you finally talk to someone.

•Pro tip: call right at 7:59 AM and keep redialing until you get in the queue. Worked for me after weeks of trying!

5 months?! That's insane. Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things along.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/AsdxiF0IH1k

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep for a phone call.

•I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. The $20 was worth it to finally get my issue resolved.

•How long did you have to wait once they called you back?

•It took about 2 hours, but I just went about my day and they called when an agent was ready. Way better than being stuck on hold myself.

•Preach! 👏 The government needs to get its act together. We can't just sit around waiting forever while bills pile up.

Here's what I did to finally get my claim resolved after 4 months of waiting: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them, including dates and times. 2. Contact your state representative and senator. Send them a detailed email explaining your situation. 3. File a complaint with the Department of Labor. Sometimes this can trigger a review of your case. 4. If you're really desperate, consider reaching out to local media. Sometimes public pressure can work wonders. 5. Join Facebook groups or forums dedicated to unemployment issues in your state. Sometimes you can get insider tips or even find employees who can help. 6. If all else fails, consider seeking legal advice. Some lawyers offer free consultations for unemployment cases. Don't give up! It's a frustrating process, but persistence usually pays off eventually.

•Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try reaching out to my state rep. Did you email or call them?

•I emailed first with all the details, then followed up with a call a few days later. Be polite but firm about needing help. Good luck!

This happened to me last year. Turns out there was a small error on my initial application that was holding everything up. Double-check all your info if you can access it online.

•That's a good idea, I'll take another look. How did you find out about the error on your application?

•I finally got through to someone on the phone and they pointed it out. It was just a typo in my employer's name, but it caused a huge delay. 🙄

5 months is rediculous! 😡 I thought my 2 month wait was bad. Sending good vibes your way, hope it gets resolved soon!

Not sure if this helps, but I've heard some people have had luck reaching out via Twitter. Apparently some unemployment offices have social media teams that can sometimes escalate issues.

•Can confirm this works! I tweeted at my state's DOL and got a DM within a day. Still took time to resolve but at least I got someone's attention.

I'm in a similar situation - been waiting 6 months now with no resolution. The advice about contacting your state representative is solid. I also recommend filing a complaint with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity's customer service portal if you haven't already. Document every interaction you have with them, including case numbers and names of anyone you speak with. Also, try calling the Spanish language line (even if you don't speak Spanish) - sometimes it's less busy and they can transfer you to an English-speaking agent. The wait times are absolutely unacceptable, but don't give up! Keep pushing and trying different approaches.

•Thank you for mentioning the Spanish language line tip! That's actually brilliant - I never would have thought of that. I'm definitely going to try calling that number tomorrow. Six months is even worse than my situation, I can't believe how broken this system is. Did you have any luck with the customer service portal complaint? I'll file one today if it might help move things along.

I'm so sorry you're going through this - 5+ months is absolutely unacceptable! I went through something similar earlier this year and it's incredibly stressful. Here are a few things that helped me finally get movement on my case: 1. Try the "callback" feature on the DEO website if it's available - sometimes it's faster than calling directly 2. Email your claim details to your county's unemployment office (some have dedicated email addresses for pending cases) 3. Consider reaching out to Florida's unemployment advocacy groups - they sometimes have direct contacts within DEO 4. Keep a detailed log of every attempt you make to contact them - dates, times, reference numbers, etc. This documentation can be crucial if you need to escalate The system is definitely broken and it's not your fault. Keep pushing and trying different approaches - persistence really does pay off eventually. You've got this! 💪
