How to cancel FTB automatic payment set up through TurboTax for 2024 taxes?
Hey everyone, I need some help canceling an automatic payment for my 2024 taxes. I set it up through TurboTax when I filed, but now I want to stop it. Has anyone done this before? Any tips on what to say when I call?

I've been there before! When you call, make sure to mention that you set up the payment through TurboTax. They might need to transfer you to a different department. Good luck!

•Nah, it was pretty straightforward once I got to the right person. Just be patient and explain your situation clearly.

Pro tip: Have your tax return handy when you call. They'll probably ask for some info from it to verify your identity.

I found a way to get someone on the phone quickly. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/XbqD8mexcoQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yep, totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

•I get the skepticism, but it's a real service. They just automate the hold process. You can check their reviews online if you're unsure.

Just a heads up, canceling might affect your payment plan if you owe taxes. Make sure you understand the consequences before you do it.

Ugh, I tried to cancel mine last year and got bounced around between TurboTax and the FTB for hours. Hope you have better luck than me, OP!

Here's a detailed guide on canceling automatic payments: 1. Gather your info: Tax return, SSN, and payment details 2. Call the FTB directly at 800-852-5711 3. Tell them you want to cancel an automatic payment set up through TurboTax 4. Be prepared to verify your identity 5. Ask about any penalties or consequences of canceling 6. Get confirmation in writing if possible 7. Follow up with TurboTax to ensure it's removed from their system too Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes.

LPT: Set a reminder to double-check your tax settings every year. I forgot about an old automatic payment and ended up overpaying. What a headache to get that money back!

Maya, I went through this exact situation last year! The key is to call the FTB directly rather than going through TurboTax first. When you call, have your SSN and the exact amount of the scheduled payment ready - they'll need it to locate your account quickly. Also, ask them to confirm the cancellation date so you know exactly when it takes effect. The rep I spoke with was actually pretty helpful once I got through. Given your job situation, they might also be able to help you set up a more manageable payment plan if you still owe anything. Good luck!

•This is exactly what I needed to hear! Thanks so much for the specific details about having the SSN and payment amount ready. I'm definitely going to call the FTB directly first instead of starting with TurboTax. Really appreciate you mentioning the payment plan option too - that might actually be perfect for my situation right now. Did you have to wait on hold for a long time when you called?
