FTB Refund Status Check: Unresolved Claim, Need Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my refund from the FTB. I filed a claim a while back and it's still not resolved. Has anyone else experienced this? How long did it take for you to get your refund? Any tips on how to speed up the process? I'm getting really frustrated with the lack of communication from their end.

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been waiting on my refund for MONTHS now. It's ridiculous how slow they are. Have you tried calling them? I heard that sometimes helps speed things up.

Yeah, I've tried calling but it's impossible to get through. I've been on hold for hours and then get disconnected. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call first thing in the morning when they open. That's how I finally got through after weeks of trying!

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/XbqD8mexcoQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

idk man, paying to get through to a government agency? Seems sketchy af 🤔

I get the skepticism, but it honestly saved me so much time and frustration. Worth every penny imo

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they garuantee you'll get through?

Sure! You choose the department you need to reach, pay the fee, and they start calling. When an agent picks up, they connect the call to your phone. No guarantee, but it worked for me on the first try.

Here's what I've learned from dealing with FTB refunds for years: 1. Be patient. Unfortunately, delays are common, especially during tax season. 2. Double-check your filing for errors. Even small mistakes can cause major delays. 3. Use the 'Where's My Refund?' tool on the FTB website regularly. 4. If it's been more than 8 weeks, definitely try to contact them directly. 5. Keep all your documentation handy in case they request additional info. 6. Consider e-filing next time if you didn't this year. It's usually faster. 7. If all else fails, contact your local taxpayer advocate office for help. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP. We're all in the same boat with these bureaucratic nightmares. 💪

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! This is super helpful. I'll definitely try the 'Where's My Refund?' tool and double-check my filing.

Great advice! I'd add that setting up direct deposit can speed things up too, if you haven't already.

lol welcome to the club 🤡 FTB is a joke. I've been waiting 6 months for my refund. At this point, I'm convinced they're just using our money as an interest-free loan. 🙄

Have you checked if there were any errors on your return? Sometimes small mistakes can cause big delays. Might be worth reviewing everything again.

I haven't actually, that's a good point. I'll go over it again tonight. Thanks for the suggestion!

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should cut FTB some slack? They're probably understaffed and overworked, especially after the pandemic. Just a thought. 🤷‍♂️

Nice try, FTB employee 😂

Lol, I wish! At least then I'd know what's going on with our refunds 😅

Has anyone tried contacting their state representative about this? I've heard sometimes they can help push things along.

I did this last year when I had a similar issue. It actually helped! Took about 2 weeks, but things started moving after my rep's office got involved.

Oh wow, I hadn't even thought of that. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll look into contacting my rep.
