Where to find EDD fax number (916) to submit documents?
I've been trying to upload documents to my EDD portal but the system keeps glitching out on me. Someone at the workforce center told me faxing is more reliable anyway. Does anyone know the fax number with area code 916 to send documents to EDD? I'm on a deadline and really need to get these verification docs in ASAP! TIA!

The EDD fax number you're looking for is (916) 255-1277 - I had to fax my identity verification documents last month when the upload system crashed during my ID.me verification. Make sure you include your full name, SSN (last 4 digits is fine), and claim ID on EVERY page you fax. Also add a cover sheet explaining what documents you're sending.

•THANK YOU!!! Been searching everywhere for this. Do you know how long it usually takes them to process faxed documents?

That's not right!! The ID verification fax is 866-215-9159 not the 916 number they gave you. Ugh so frustrating how nobody gives the same answer twice with EDD!

•Actually, both numbers are correct but for different purposes. The 916-255-1277 number is for general documentation, while the 866-215-9159 is specifically for identity verification documents. OP should use the appropriate one depending on what they're trying to send. The EDD website lists all these numbers under Contact Information if you need to verify.

•I've had the same experience with their fax system! It's so frustrating because they don't even tell you if they received it or not. I recommend calling to confirm they received your fax after sending it. Unfortunately, getting through to an EDD representative can take forever with their phone system. I finally got through using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they connected me to an EDD agent within 15 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. Was definitely worth it to confirm my documents were actually received and being processed.

Pro tip: Get a fax confirmation page after sending!!! I learned this the hard way when EDD claimed they never received my appeal documents even though I had sent them. Without proof of transmission, I had to start the whole process over and lost benefits for 3 weeks. Also write your claim ID in BIG NUMBERS at the top of every single page.

I recommend sending your documents multiple ways if possible. I always upload to UI Online AND fax to the (916) 255-1277 number for important documents. It creates redundancy in the system. For anyone wondering about other EDD fax numbers: - Appeals: (916) 319-3568 - Identity Verification: (866) 215-9159 - General Documentation: (916) 255-1277 - Disability Insurance: (855) 342-3700 Keep in mind processing times vary significantly - identity verification can take 7-10 business days while appeals can take several weeks. Always follow up by phone if you don't see acknowledgment in your UI Online account within 5-7 business days.

•This is super helpful! I'll definitely try both methods. I'm sending proof of job search activities that were questioned. Not sure which category that falls under, probably general documentation?

•Yes, for work search verification, use the general documentation number (916) 255-1277. Make sure to include your certification week dates clearly on each document. Those typically take about 5-7 business days to process, but could be longer with current volumes.

Just wanted to add that if you're having trouble with the online portal, you can also try submitting documents through the "Ask EDD" feature in your UI Online account. Sometimes that works when the regular upload function is glitchy. I've used it successfully for submitting additional work search documentation when the system was acting up. It creates a case number and they usually respond within 5-10 business days letting you know if they need anything else. Worth trying as another backup option along with faxing!

Another option that's worked for me is using online fax services like eFax or FaxZero if you don't have access to a physical fax machine. You can upload your documents and send them to the EDD fax numbers mentioned above. Just make sure to keep the confirmation receipt they email you - it serves as proof of transmission just like a traditional fax confirmation page. I've successfully used this method for the (916) 255-1277 number and it went through fine. Some of these services offer a few free faxes per month which is perfect for occasional EDD document submissions.

•That's a great suggestion! I didn't even think about online fax services. I've been stressing about finding a physical fax machine since most places charge like $2-3 per page. FaxZero sounds perfect since it's free for a few pages. Do you remember if there's a page limit on the free version? I probably have about 8-10 pages of job search documentation to send.

•@Mateo Sanchez FaxZero allows up to 3 pages for free per day, so you might need to split your 8-10 pages across a few days or use their premium service. Another option is HelloFax now (part of Dropbox Sign which) sometimes offers free trials. You could also check your local library - many still have fax services for a small fee, usually much cheaper than print shops. Just make sure whatever service you use gives you a confirmation receipt!

One more tip that saved me a lot of headaches - when you fax documents to EDD, always include a cover page with the current date, your full name, SSN (last 4 digits), claim number, and a brief description of what you're sending. I also add "URGENT - DEADLINE SENSITIVE" at the top if it's time-critical. This helps their processing team route your documents to the right department faster. Also, if you're sending multiple documents, number each page (like "Page 1 of 8") so they know if any pages are missing. I learned this after they claimed they only received 3 out of 5 pages of my employment verification documents. Now I always get confirmation receipts and follow up within a week to make sure everything was received completely.

•This is exactly the kind of detailed advice I wish I had when I first started dealing with EDD! The cover page tip is gold - I've been just sending documents without much context and wondering why things take forever to process. Quick question though - when you say "URGENT - DEADLINE SENSITIVE" do you think that actually helps move things along faster, or is it more just to make sure they don't sit on it? I'm always worried about seeming too pushy with government agencies but I'm also stressed about missing deadlines.
