Where to send EDD SDI identity verification documents? Lost the address!

I'm so frustrated right now! EDD requested verification documents for my disability claim (driver's license, SSN card, etc.) and I swear I had the mailing address written down on a sticky note. Well, my toddler decided to have an art project with my notes and now I can't find the right address anywhere! My claim is pending since March 4th and I'm worried about missing the deadline to send these docs. Has anyone had to mail in verification paperwork recently? Where exactly do I need to send my identity documents for SDI verification? I tried looking on the EDD website but got lost in their maze of pages. Really appreciate any help!

Ive been thru that. Pretty sure its PO Box 989010, West Sacramento, CA 95798-9010 for id verification stuff. But double check online bc they have diff PO Boxes for diff things!

Thank you! I'll try to verify this address on their site. Have you sent documents there yourself recently? Just want to make sure it hasn't changed.

The previous commenter provided an address that's actually for UI identity verification, not SDI. For State Disability Insurance identity verification, you should send documents to: Employment Development Department PO Box 997401 Sacramento, CA 94250-7401 Make sure to include your claim ID number on everything you send, and I strongly recommend sending it certified mail with tracking so you have proof they received it. They're notorious for "losing" documents.

Oh my gosh, thank you for the correction! I would have sent it to the wrong place. I'll definitely use certified mail too - the last thing I need is for them to claim they never got my documents.

I got the same verification request last month!!! So annoying. I actually ended up calling them to confirm the address before sending my stuff because I was paranoid about it going to the wrong place. Took me like 2 days of calling to get through though.

2 days of calling sounds awful but maybe worth it to make sure. Did the address they gave you match what @helpful_expert posted above?

I spent 3 hours yesterday trying to reach EDD to verify some information about my disability claim. Finally gave up and used Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they got me connected to an EDD representative in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd The EDD rep confirmed the address for me and also helped resolve another pending issue on my claim. Might be worth it if you're struggling to get through on the phone like I was.

Is this a real service?? Sounds too good to be true with how impossible it is to reach EDD... has anyone else used it? I'm skeptical about sharing my info with some random service.

The EXACT same thing happened to me in January!!! So frustrating how EDD makes everything so complicated. I sent my docs to the Sacramento PO Box address mentioned above AND also uploaded digital copies through my SDI Online account just to be safe. Be careful about what you send though - they only need copies, NOT your original documents. I nearly sent my original birth certificate like an idiot, which would've been a disaster if they lost it (which they totally might). Also make sure you include a cover letter with your full name, claim ID, last 4 of SSN, and clearly explain these are the verification documents they requested!

Wait, we can upload the documents digitally too?? I didn't see that option in my account. Where exactly in SDI Online did you find that? That would be so much easier than mailing!

Yes, you can upload verification documents digitally in some cases. Log into your SDI Online account, go to "Upload Documents" in the left menu. If you don't see that option, it means your specific verification request requires mailed physical copies. Also, important note: EDD is very particular about what constitutes acceptable verification. Make sure you're sending exactly what they requested in their letter. For identity verification, they typically want: 1. Primary ID (unexpired driver's license, state ID, or passport) 2. Secondary ID (Social Security card, birth certificate, or recent W-2) And as mentioned above, always include your claim number and a brief explanation of why you're sending these documents.

Thank you so much for all this detailed information! I just checked and I do have the upload option. I'm going to do both - upload AND mail physical copies just to be extra safe. I really appreciate everyone's help!

One more thing - don't forget to keep copies of EVERYTHING you send to EDD for your own records. They lost my verification documents TWICE last year during my pregnancy disability claim. The third time I sent them, I included a note saying I had already sent them twice before with the exact dates. Suddenly they "found" them! 🙄 The whole system is a mess.

THIS!!! They also "lost" my doctor's certification form and tried to deny my claim! I had to get my doctor to resubmit everything. So frustrating!
