SDI claim stuck due to missing docs from doctor - need advice!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my SDI claim. The EDD is saying they're missing some documentation from my doctor's office, and it's holding up the whole process. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to speed things up? I'm thinking about emailing my doctor to request the missing docs, but I'm not sure what exactly I need to ask for. This is so frustrating!

Ugh, been there done that. The EDD is such a mess rn. Have you tried calling them to get a list of exactly what documents they need? That way you can tell your doc's office specifically what to send.

•Oof, yeah the phone lines are a nightmare. Keep trying tho, sometimes early morning or late afternoon works better

•Pro tip: use a auto-dialer app. It'll keep calling until you get through. Saved me hours of frustration

Here's what worked for me: 1. Call your doctor's office directly 2. Ask to speak with the person who handles disability paperwork 3. Explain the situation and ask what forms EDD usually requests 4. Get them to fax or securely email the docs directly to EDD 5. Follow up with EDD in a week to confirm receipt Hope this helps! The key is being proactive and not waiting for EDD to tell you what's missing. Good luck!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of all your calls and who you spoke to. It'll save you headaches later if theres any dispute

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds sketchy. Is it legit?

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

•How long did it take to get through?

•It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They called me when an agent was on the line.

Have you tried faxing the docs yourself? Sometimes that's faster than waiting for the doc's office to do it. Just a thought!

•I didn't even think of that! Do you know if there's a specific fax number for SDI claims?

•Yeah, it's 1-855-341-6727. Make sure to include your claim number on every page!

Unpopular opinion: the system isn't broken, ppl just don't know how to navigate it properly 🤷♂️

Quick question - how long ago did you submit your initial claim? There's been a huge backlog since covid, so timeframes are all over the place

•It's been about 3 weeks now. Is that normal?

•Unfortunately, yeah. I've heard of some taking 6-8 weeks lately. Hang in there!
