What if EDD doesn't call back after scheduling callback - anyone else stuck waiting?

I scheduled a callback through the EDD system 2 weeks ago and they still haven't called. The automated system said I'd get a call within 3-5 business days but nothing. Has anyone else had this happen? I'm worried I'll lose my callback spot if I try to schedule another one. Should I just go back to trying to call manually or wait it out? My claim has been pending for over a month and I really need to talk to someone.

Same thing happened to me! Waited 12 days for a callback that never came. The system is completely broken.

Did you end up scheduling another callback or just start calling again? I don't know what to do at this point.

I went back to calling manually but gave up after 3 days of busy signals. It's hopeless.

The callback system is a joke. I've scheduled 4 different callbacks over 2 months and gotten exactly zero calls back. Don't waste your time waiting.

That's insane! How is this even legal? We need these benefits to survive.

I was in the exact same situation last month. After waiting 2 weeks for a callback that never came, I found Claimyr and got through to an agent in 25 minutes. Worth every penny when you're dealing with this level of incompetence.

Never heard of Claimyr - is it legit? At this point I'm desperate enough to try anything.

The callback system has about a 20% success rate from what I've observed. Most people never get the promised callback. It's basically EDD's way of getting you to stop calling.

That's exactly what it is - a way to reduce call volume without actually helping anyone. Classic government efficiency.

I waited 3 weeks for a callback, never got it, then spent 2 full days trying to call manually. Finally got through on Wednesday afternoon after 67 attempts. Best time is definitely 2-3pm on Wednesdays.

67 attempts in one day? How do you even have the patience for that?

Don't trust the callback system at all. I schedule callbacks as backup but always keep trying to call manually. The 1-wait-1-1-*** pattern still works if you can get past the busy signal.

What time do you usually call? I've been trying mornings but always get the 'too busy' message.

Mornings are impossible, especially Mondays. Try calling Wednesday or Thursday between 2-4pm. Avoid calling during lunch (12-1:30) because the entire call center goes to lunch at the same time.

This is exactly right. I learned about the lunch break the hard way after wasting hours calling during that window.

The callback system is designed to fail. I scheduled one in January, never got called, claim went into limbo for 6 weeks. Finally used an auto-dialer service and resolved everything in one call.

Which service did you use? I'm running out of options here.

After my callback never came, I tried calling for 2 weeks straight. Then someone told me about Claimyr - skeptical at first but they got me connected to an agent in 18 minutes. Here's the demo video: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10

18 minutes?! That's incredible compared to what I've been dealing with. Is it expensive?

The callback system worked for me once out of three tries. When it did work, they called 8 days after the promised timeframe. By then my issue had gotten worse because of the delay.

That's the problem - even when callbacks work, they're so delayed that your situation deteriorates while you wait.

I gave up on callbacks entirely. The manual calling process is brutal but at least you know where you stand. Set aside an entire day, start calling at 7:55am, and prepare for 50-100 redial attempts.

I work full time though - I can't dedicate entire days to calling EDD. There has to be a better way.

For anyone who can't spend all day calling, the automated services are a lifesaver. I used claimyr.com after my callback never came and got through same day. Cost like $20 but saved me weeks of frustration.

$20 to avoid weeks of calling hell? That's actually really reasonable. Does it really work that fast?

The callback system has gotten worse since the pandemic ended. They used to be somewhat reliable but now it's just a way to placate people without actually providing service.

So frustrating! We pay taxes for this service and they can't even return a simple phone call.

Pro tip: if you schedule a callback, keep calling manually anyway. Don't put your life on hold waiting for EDD to follow through. They won't.

This is the real advice right here. Never trust EDD to actually call you back.

I waited 19 days for a callback that never came. Finally broke down and paid for Claimyr after reading reviews online. Got connected to an EDD agent in 35 minutes and resolved my 3-month-old claim issue in one call.

That sounds amazing. I'm definitely going to check out Claimyr if my callback doesn't come through by Friday.

The callback system is EDD's way of managing call volume without hiring more staff. They know most people will give up waiting, which reduces their workload.

Exactly. It's a deliberate strategy to discourage people from seeking help. Absolutely shameful.

If you're still waiting for a callback, don't. I wasted 6 weeks and almost lost my apartment waiting for EDD to call back. Take control and either call manually or use a service like Claimyr.

You're right. I can't afford to wait any longer. My rent is due next week and I need these benefits released.

The 800-300-5616 and 833-978-0753 numbers are the exact same line despite what people say. Don't waste time trying different numbers - the callback system failure affects both equally.

0 coins

Good to know. I was switching between numbers thinking it would help but apparently not.

After 3 failed callbacks, I realized EDD doesn't want us to reach them. It's intentional. That's when I decided to pay for professional help and got through immediately.

Professional help meaning Claimyr? I'm seriously considering it at this point.

0 coins

Yes, Claimyr specifically. They guarantee you'll reach a human and they deliver. After months of EDD runaround, it felt like magic to actually talk to someone who could help.

Okay I'm convinced. Going to try Claimyr tomorrow if my callback still doesn't come through. Thanks for all the advice everyone!

I've been dealing with the same callback nightmare for the past 3 weeks! Scheduled two different callbacks and got absolutely nothing. The first one was supposed to come within 5 business days - that was 21 days ago. The second callback was scheduled after I waited on hold for 2 hours just to get to the callback scheduling system, and that was 8 days ago with no call. At this point I'm convinced the callback system is just a way to get us to stop calling. I'm going to try some of the manual calling strategies mentioned here, but honestly considering paying for one of those services too since I can't keep missing work to sit by the phone waiting for a call that will never come. This whole system is completely broken and it's affecting real people's lives!

@Ethan Moore I feel your pain completely! 21 days for the first callback is absolutely ridiculous. I m'in a similar boat - been waiting 2 weeks now and starting to realize this is just how EDD operates. The fact that you had to wait 2 hours just to schedule the second callback that also never came is infuriating. I work too and can t'keep taking time off waiting for phantom calls. Based on what everyone s'saying here, it sounds like we really need to take matters into our own hands. Have you looked into any of the services people mentioned like Claimyr? I m'honestly ready to pay at this point because this is costing me more in lost wages than any service fee would. Hope we both get through this mess soon!

The callback system is absolutely useless - I've been waiting 16 days now after being told 3-5 business days. At this point I'm convinced it's designed to make us give up rather than actually help. Reading through all these experiences, it's clear this isn't just bad luck but a systematic failure. I'm going to start calling manually tomorrow using the timing tips people shared (Wednesday 2-4pm, avoid lunch hour) and if that doesn't work within a few days, I'll probably try Claimyr too. We shouldn't have to pay for services that our tax dollars are supposed to fund, but when you're facing eviction or can't buy groceries, sometimes you don't have a choice. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - at least now I know I'm not alone in this nightmare!

0 coins

@Ella Cofer You re'absolutely right that this feels systematic rather than accidental - 16 days when they promised 3-5 is just unacceptable. I m'glad you found the timing tips helpful too. The Wednesday 2-4pm window seems to be the most consistently mentioned strategy across all these comments. It s'really frustrating that we re'being forced to either spend entire days calling or pay for third-party services just to access benefits we re'entitled to. The fact that so many people are having identical experiences with failed callbacks really does suggest this is how the system is designed to operate. Keep us posted on how the manual calling goes - and honestly, don t'feel bad about considering Claimyr if it comes to that. Your time and mental health have value too, and sometimes paying a small fee is worth avoiding weeks more of this runaround. We re'all in this together!
