Looking for EDD call back number - does one actually exist?
I've been trying to reach EDD for weeks and I'm wondering if there's an EDD call back number where they can call me instead of me sitting on hold for 2+ hours. I've heard rumors about callback services but can't find any official EDD callback system. Has anyone found a legitimate EDD call back number or service that actually works? I'm getting desperate here - already burned through 40+ calling attempts this week alone.

Unfortunately EDD doesn't have an official callback system. I've been calling for months and the only option is to stay on hold or keep redialing. It's absolutely brutal.

•That's what I was afraid of. This system is completely broken if they can't even offer basic callback functionality.

•Right? Every other customer service has callbacks in 2024 except EDD. It's like they're stuck in 1995.

The closest thing to an EDD call back number is using a service like Claimyr. It's not official EDD but they dial for you and call you back when they get an agent on the line. Used it last month and got a callback in 23 minutes.

•Never heard of Claimyr - is it legitimate? I'm skeptical of anything that charges money for this.

•Yeah it's legit, you can look them up. They have thousands of reviews. It's at claimyr.com and there's a demo video at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10 that shows how it works.

•I was skeptical too but honestly best $20 I ever spent. Saved me literally days of calling.

I tried everything including calling the disability line thinking it might have callback options - nope. Same broken system across all EDD departments.

•The disability line is actually worse in my experience. At least unemployment sometimes answers.

•True, and they're all the same line anyway despite different numbers. Complete waste of time calling multiple numbers.

Been calling since January and never once has EDD offered a callback option. Best you can do is call right at 8am and hope you get through before the lines get completely jammed.

•Even calling at 8am sharp I usually need 50+ attempts just to get on hold. Then half the time the call drops after 2 hours.

•Exactly! The call dropping is the worst part. All that time wasted for nothing.

•This is why I switched to using an auto-dialer. Can't handle the stress of manual calling anymore.

There's no official EDD call back number but there are workarounds. The menu pattern is 1-wait-1-1-*** if you want to dial faster, but honestly after trying that 200+ times I gave up.

•I know that pattern by heart now. Sometimes I can get through the menu in 45 seconds instead of 2 minutes but still usually get the busy message.

Layla Sanders
•Yeah the menu shortcut helps but doesn't solve the fundamental problem of them being overwhelmed with calls.

For what it's worth, I found that Wednesday afternoons around 2pm seem to have the best success rate. Still took me 67 attempts but I did get through. No callback though - had to stay on hold for 1 hour 45 minutes.

•Wednesday worked for me too! But I called 89 times and then the call dropped right when someone picked up. Almost threw my phone across the room.

•That's the worst feeling ever. I've had that happen 3 times now - getting to the very end and then losing the call.

•This is exactly why callback services exist. Too risky to invest hours and have it all wasted on a dropped call.

Don't waste time calling between 12pm and 1:30pm - the entire call center takes lunch and nobody answers. Found this out the hard way after calling 40 times during lunch break.

•Wait seriously? They ALL take lunch at the same time? That explains why I could never get through around noon.

•Yup, complete dead zone from 12-1:30. They should really announce this but they don't.

•This is incredibly useful info. I've been calling during lunch like an idiot.

After 3 weeks of failed calling attempts I broke down and used Claimyr. Got a callback in 31 minutes with an actual EDD agent on the line. Sometimes you just have to admit the manual approach isn't working.

•How much did it cost? I'm at my wit's end but don't want to get ripped off.

•I think it was $19 or $24, honestly can't remember exactly but it was totally worth it. Saved me probably 20+ hours of calling.

•That's actually pretty reasonable when you think about the time value. I've probably spent 30+ hours calling manually with zero success.

Pro tip: don't call after 4pm any day of the week. They seem to stop taking new calls even though they're technically open until 5pm.

•This is true! I noticed the same thing. After 4pm you get the busy message immediately.

•Exactly. Best times are 8-11am and 1:30-4pm. Avoid Monday mornings and Friday afternoons too.

I keep a spreadsheet of my calling attempts - 147 calls over 2 weeks, got through twice but both calls dropped while on hold. There's definitely no callback option, just endless redialing or paying for a service to do it for you.

•You're tracking this better than EDD tracks their own system! That success rate is depressing though.

Alice Coleman
•Yeah the stats are brutal. Less than 2% success rate and even then no guarantee the call won't drop.

•This is exactly why services like Claimyr exist. The manual approach has such terrible odds.

Tried calling both 800-300-5616 and 833-978-7384 thinking one might have callback options - they're literally the exact same line. Don't waste time trying different numbers.

•Good to know! I was wondering if the different numbers went to different systems.

•Nope, same recordings, same hold music, same everything. It's all one overwhelmed phone system.

My work schedule only lets me call during lunch breaks, which apparently is exactly when EDD doesn't answer. Thinking about using one of those callback services since I literally can't call during their available hours.

•Same problem here! Work from 7am-6pm so I can only call during their lunch break when no one answers.

•This is exactly why I ended up using Claimyr. You can request a callback anytime and they handle all the calling during business hours.

•That actually makes perfect sense for people with day jobs. Thanks for the info!

Bottom line: EDD has no official callback system. Your options are manually dial 50-100+ times hoping to get through, or use a third-party service that handles it for you. That's literally it.

•Sad but accurate summary. It's 2024 and we're still dealing with phone systems from the 1990s.

•At least now we have options like auto-dialers. Better than nothing I guess.

Unfortunately, there's no official EDD callback number or system. I've been dealing with this nightmare for months now. The reality is you have three options: 1) Keep manually dialing and hoping you get lucky (I'm at 200+ attempts with maybe 3 successful connections), 2) Use a third-party service like Claimyr that does the calling for you and calls you back when they reach an agent, or 3) Try to time your calls perfectly (avoid lunch hours, call early morning or mid-afternoon on weekdays). It's absolutely ridiculous that in 2024 we don't have basic callback functionality, but that's the broken system we're stuck with. Save yourself the frustration and either commit to spending entire days calling or just pay for a callback service.

•This is such a comprehensive breakdown, thank you! I've been banging my head against the wall trying to find some magical EDD callback number that doesn't exist. Your three options summary is exactly what I needed to hear - even though it's depressing. I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and try one of those third-party services since I can't afford to spend entire workdays calling. The fact that we have to resort to paying external companies to navigate our own state's unemployment system is absolutely insane.
