Has anyone used an EDD call service - worth it or waste of money?
I've been trying to reach EDD for 2 weeks straight about my pending claim. Called probably 200+ times, got through to hold twice but both calls dropped after 90+ minutes. I'm starting to see ads for services that will call EDD for you and get you connected to an agent. Has anyone actually used an EDD call service? Are they legit or just scams taking advantage of desperate people? I'm at the point where I'd pay anything to just talk to a human.

I feel your pain. Been calling for 3 weeks myself. The hold times are insane and they drop half the calls anyway. Haven't tried a service yet but honestly considering it.

•Right? It's like they designed this system to make us give up. My friend said she tried calling 400 times in one week and never even got on hold.

•400 times in a week sounds about right. The busy signal is basically their default response now.

Be careful with those services. Some are just taking your money and doing the same thing you're doing - calling over and over. Make sure they actually guarantee results.

•Good point. How do you tell which ones are legit vs just auto-dialers that might not even work?

•Look for ones that only charge when they successfully connect you. If they want money upfront with no guarantee, run.

Actually used Claimyr last month when I was in the same boat. Spent $20 and got a callback with an EDD agent in about 25 minutes. Honestly the best money I ever spent - saved me literally days of calling.

•Wait, really? How does it work exactly? Do they just call for you or is there more to it?

•They have software that dials the number, navigates the menu, waits on hold, then calls your phone when an agent picks up. You literally just wait for them to call you back with a live person.

•Is it claimyr.com? I've seen their ads but wasn't sure if it was legitimate.

The manual calling is absolutely brutal. I've been doing it for weeks and my phone bill is through the roof from all the minutes. Plus I can't do anything else during the day because I'm constantly redialing.

•Same here! My unlimited plan isn't actually unlimited and I hit my limit last week. Now I'm paying overage charges on top of everything else.

•Exactly! It's like we're being punished twice - once for needing help and again for trying to get it.

For what it's worth, I tried the manual calling for 2 months straight. Best strategy is call right at 8am, use the 1-wait-1-1-*** pattern, and avoid calling between 12-1:30pm when they're all at lunch. Still took me 80+ attempts most days just to get the busy signal.

•The lunch break thing is so frustrating! They should at least tell people they don't answer calls during that time.

•Right? It's like a secret that everyone eventually figures out the hard way. Wasted so many hours calling during lunch before I realized.

•What's the 1-wait-1-1-*** pattern? I've been just following the prompts normally.

I was super skeptical about call services but finally broke down and tried one. The way I looked at it, I was already losing money by not working while spending all day calling EDD. $20-30 to get my time back seemed worth it.

•That's exactly my situation. I'm losing more money sitting by the phone all day than these services even cost.

•Exactly. And the stress relief alone was worth it. No more anxiety about whether today would be the day I finally get through.

The EDD phone system drops about 30-50% of calls even when you do get on hold. I've been through this multiple times and it's absolutely soul-crushing to wait 2 hours just to get disconnected.

•This happened to me 3 times last week! 2+ hour holds and then just disconnected. I wanted to throw my phone across the room.

•Yeah, it's a known issue they haven't fixed. That's why alternative methods like callback services make sense - they handle the dropped calls for you.

Wednesday afternoons seem to be the best time if you're going to call manually. Mondays are impossible and Friday afternoons are pointless since you won't solve anything until next week anyway.

•I've noticed the same pattern. Tuesday through Thursday between 2-4pm seems to have the highest success rate.

•Yep, and definitely don't call after 4pm any day. They seem to stop taking new calls even though they're officially open until 5.

Just to clarify for people asking - both the 833 and 800 numbers go to the exact same call center. Don't waste time thinking one is better than the other. Also, there's no special 'specialist line' anymore since the pandemic ended.

•Thank you! I kept seeing people say to call different numbers but they all seemed to have the same wait times.

•Right, it's all the same overwhelmed system. The specialist line thing is just outdated advice that keeps getting repeated.

For anyone still on the fence about call services, I used Claimyr twice now and both times got connected in under 40 minutes. Compare that to the weeks I spent calling manually with zero success. Here's their demo video if you want to see how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10

•40 minutes vs weeks of calling? That's insane. I'm definitely going to check this out.

•Same here. At this point the $20-30 is nothing compared to the time and stress I'd save.

•Yeah, and you can literally do other things while waiting for the callback. It's not like manual calling where you're tied to your phone all day.

I've been tracking my calling attempts in a spreadsheet because I'm probably obsessive. 847 total calls over 3 weeks, got through to hold 4 times, 3 calls dropped, talked to 1 agent for 5 minutes before getting transferred and dropped. The math on this is just insane.

Sarah Jones
•847 calls?! That's dedication but also kind of terrifying. How much time did that take total?
0 coins
Drake
•Roughly 35-40 hours of active calling time, plus probably 6-8 hours on hold that led to nothing. It's literally a part-time job just trying to reach them.

The key with manual calling is to press the menu options before the prompts finish. So dial 1 immediately after the first beep, don't wait for the full English/Spanish message. Wait exactly 70 seconds, then dial 1-1-***. This saves about 30 seconds per call which adds up.

Emily Sanjay
•70 seconds exactly? How did you figure out that timing?
0 coins
Sebastian Scott
•Trial and error over hundreds of calls. If you press too early it doesn't register, too late and you waste time. 70 seconds hits the sweet spot.

Finally got through last week after using Claimyr. The agent was super helpful and resolved my issue in 20 minutes. Turns out I had been missing one simple document that was holding up my whole claim. Could have been fixed weeks ago if I could have just talked to someone.

•This is so frustrating - a 20 minute conversation could have saved weeks of stress. Definitely going to try the callback service.

•Right? The actual problem was easy to fix, it was just getting to talk to someone that was impossible. The callback service was a game changer.

I work nights so I can't call during normal business hours anyway. The callback services are perfect for people like me - you can request a callback anytime and they'll call you when they get an agent on the line.

Amara Torres
•Wait, you can request callbacks outside business hours? That's actually perfect for my schedule too.

Elijah O'Reilly
•Yep, with Claimyr you can place the request 24/7 and they'll work on it during business hours then call you whenever they connect.

Just want to add - don't fall for the 'secret EDD numbers' or 'backdoor access' scams. The legitimate services like Claimyr use the same public numbers we all have access to, they just automate the process and have software that's better at it than humans.

Mason Kaczka
•Good point. If someone claims they have a special direct number, it's probably a scam.

•Exactly. The legit services are transparent about using the same 800 number - they just do it way more efficiently than we can manually.

Update for anyone following this thread - just used claimyr.com and got connected to an EDD agent in 22 minutes. Problem solved, claim processed, payments should start next week. Seriously wish I had found this weeks ago instead of torturing myself with manual calling.

I'm in the exact same situation as you Emily - been calling for weeks with zero success. Reading through all these responses, it sounds like the callback services are actually legit and worth trying. The manual calling is clearly broken when people are making 800+ calls just to get disconnected. I think I'm going to try Claimyr based on all the positive experiences people are sharing here. At this point the $20-30 cost is way less than what I'm losing by not being able to work while stuck calling EDD all day.

•Keisha, I totally agree! I've been reading through everyone's experiences and it's pretty clear that the traditional calling method is just not working anymore. The fact that people are making hundreds of calls and still not getting through shows how broken the system has become. I'm really impressed by how many people have had success with these callback services - it seems like they've figured out a way to work around all the issues we're facing with busy signals and dropped calls. I'm definitely going to give it a try too!

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences! This thread has been incredibly helpful. I've been stuck in the same endless calling cycle and was starting to lose hope. Reading about people getting through in 20-40 minutes with callback services vs making 800+ manual calls really puts things in perspective. The stress and time cost of manual calling is just not sustainable anymore. I'm going to try Claimyr today - the success rate people are reporting here is way better than anything I've achieved on my own. Really appreciate this community for sharing real solutions instead of just complaining about the problem!

•CyberSiren, you're absolutely right about this community being so helpful! I've been lurking here for weeks feeling completely hopeless about my EDD situation, but seeing everyone's real experiences with both manual calling and the callback services has been eye-opening. The success stories are really convincing - especially when people are sharing specific timeframes like 22-40 minutes vs the hundreds of failed attempts we've all been making. I think I'm finally ready to stop torturing myself with manual calling and try one of these services too. Thanks for encouraging everyone to share their actual results!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who shared their experiences here! I was getting so frustrated with the endless busy signals and was starting to think I was doing something wrong. Seeing that other people have made 400-800+ calls without success makes me feel less crazy, but also shows just how broken this system really is. The callback service success stories are really compelling - 20-40 minutes vs weeks of failed attempts is a no-brainer. I'm going to try Claimyr today. Even if it doesn't work, at least I'll know I tried everything instead of just banging my head against the wall with manual calling forever. Will update if I have success!

•Aidan, you're definitely not crazy! I just joined this community and this thread has been such an eye-opener. I had no idea so many people were struggling with the same impossible calling situation. Reading about people making 800+ calls and still getting nowhere really drives home how dysfunctional the EDD phone system has become. The callback service testimonials here are pretty convincing too - especially when multiple people are reporting similar success timeframes. I'm brand new to all this but based on what everyone's sharing, it seems like these services have found a way to beat the system that we just can't replicate manually. Looking forward to your update if you try it!
