SDI payment delayed & PFL claim not processed due to date overlap - Help navigating EDD bureaucracy?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my SDI and PFL claims and I'm hoping someone here can help me out. I submitted my SDI claim but haven't received payment yet. I got an email from EDD asking for an explanation about what my current employer is paying me during maternity leave, but they didn't say how to provide this info. Anyone know how I can give them the correct details so I can get my SDI payment? Also, my PFL claim hasn't been processed because it's overlapping with my SDI dates. How do I fix this so I can get my PFL claim processed and paid? I'm getting pretty frustrated with all this bureaucracy. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, dealing with EDD is such a headache! 🤕 I've been there, and it's not fun. For the SDI claim, you should be able to log into your EDD account online and submit additional information there. Look for a section about updating your claim or providing additional details. As for the PFL overlap, you might need to call them directly to sort that out. Good luck!

•Thanks for the advice! I'll check my online account. Have you had any luck getting through on the phone? I've been trying for days with no success.

•Honestly, calling them is like trying to win the lottery 😅 I spent hours on hold before I finally got through. Keep trying, and maybe try calling right when they open in the morning. That seemed to work better for me.

•Pro tip: call at exactly 8:01 am. That's when their lines open and you have the best chance of getting through quickly!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

•I was skeptical at first too, but I can confirm it's legit. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•I've used it twice now. Worked both times. It's a game changer if you're desperate to talk to someone.

The EDD system is so broken, it's not even funny anymore. 🤡 I've been dealing with claim issues for months now. It's like they purposely make it difficult to get help. Hang in there, OP. You're not alone in this mess.

Here's what worked for me with the SDI/PFL overlap issue: 1. Log into your EDD account 2. Go to 'Contact Us' and select 'Submit Question' 3. Choose 'Claim Questions' as the category 4. Explain the overlap issue and ask for guidance on amending dates 5. Include your claim numbers for both SDI and PFL They usually respond within 5-7 business days. It's not instant, but it's better than trying to call endlessly. Hope this helps!

•Thank you so much for the detailed steps! I'll definitely try this. Did you eventually get both claims sorted out?

•Yes, I did! It took about two weeks total, but they adjusted the dates and processed both claims. Just be patient and persistent.

have you tried faxing the information to them? sometimes old school methods work better with government agencies lol. I had to do this for my unemployment claim last year and it actually worked faster than trying to do everything online.

•Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 😂 But seriously, if it works, it works!

•ikr? 🤣 But hey, don't knock it till you try it. Sometimes you gotta play by their outdated rules to win the game.

I feel your pain, OP. The whole system is a mess. Have you considered reaching out to your local state representative? They sometimes have liaisons who can help push things through with EDD. It's worth a shot if you're really stuck.

Quick question - did you make sure to report any vacation or sick pay you received from your employer during your SDI claim period? That can affect your payment and cause delays if not reported correctly.

•Oh, I didn't even think about that! I did receive some sick pay. How do I report that after the fact?

•You can usually report it through your online account or by calling them. But definitely get that sorted ASAP, it could be what's holding things up!

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website is always "under maintenance" when you actually need to use it? It's like they're trolling us at this point. 🙄
