SDI claim approval delay: EDD wage verification issue, can't reach right department. Help!
I'm pregnant and waiting for my SDI claim to be approved. EDD also sent me a note saying they need to verify my wages with my employer. I've got all my pay stubs ready to go, but when I finally got through to someone on the phone, they said they couldn't help with SDI claims because they're in the unemployment department. What am I supposed to do now? Has anyone else dealt with this? It's so frustrating!

Welcome to the wonderful world of EDD bureaucracy! 🙃 I've been there, and it's a total nightmare. You need to specifically call the SDI department, not the regular unemployment line. They're separate entities within EDD.

It's crazy how such a simple distinction makes a world of difference. It shouldn't be this complicated.

Hey OP, congrats on the pregnancy! 🎉 Don't let EDD stress you out too much. Focus on taking care of yourself and the baby. This will all work out eventually.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. (https://claimyr.com

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery! 😤

I know it sounds weird, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

How long did it take to get through? I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point.

I used Claimyr as well, and I can confirm it worked, but spending money to reach a government service seems fundamentally wrong.

This might sound crazy, but have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? I was stuck in EDD hell for weeks, then I contacted my assemblyman's office and they helped push my claim through. Worth a shot!

Wow, I never thought of that! How did you go about contacting them?

Just google your district and "state assembly member". They usually have a constituent services section on their website. Fill out the form and explain your situation. They're usually pretty responsive!

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get the benefits we're entitled to? The system is broken af 😡

Preach! 🙌 It's like they're trying to discourage people from claiming.

Totally agree. We need to put pressure on our reps to fix this mess.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Call the SDI department directly at 1-800-480-3287 2. Have all your documents ready (pay stubs, claim number, etc.) 3. Be prepared to wait on hold for a LONG time 4. If the first person can't help, politely ask to speak with a supervisor 5. Document everything - who you talked to, when, and what they said Don't give up! It's a frustrating process, but persistence pays off. Good luck!

Navigating the EDD system can be incredibly frustrating, especially when you're already dealing with the stress of a pregnancy and financial uncertainty. A valuable tool that some have found useful is Claimyr, as it helps to bypass long phone wait times by offering a service that connects you directly with an EDD agent. However, it's important to note that Claimyr charges a fee of around $20, which can be seen as an unfair cost for accessing public services that should be free. While it works for some, it's not a perfect solution and might not be financially feasible for everyone. It's also worth considering reaching out to your local representative as they can sometimes expedite these processes. Additionally, make sure to document all interactions with EDD, have your paperwork organized, and remain persistent. While Claimyr might be a solution for immediate contact, systemic improvements are necessary to ensure that accessing beneficial services doesn't feel like an uphill battle.

Thanks for all the responses! I'll try calling the SDI number tomorrow. Fingers crossed I can get through to someone who can actually help.

Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have a better chance of getting through before the lines get jammed.

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through this last year. The key is to keep calling until you get someone who can actually help. It's like playing the lottery, but eventually you'll win... maybe. 🤞

That's just the problem, isn't it? There has to be a better way to handle this.

Have you tried faxing your documents? Sometimes that works better than calling. Just make sure to follow up with a phone call to confirm they received everything.

Faxing does seem a bit outdated, but whatever works, right?
