SDI Claim: Tips to Reach EDD Rep After Days of Failed Calls?

Has anyone else had trouble getting through to EDD about their SDI claim? I've been trying to call for days and can't get a human on the line. They keep transferring me to different departments or hanging up. I'm getting really frustrated and need to talk to someone about my claim status. Any tips on how to actually reach a person there?

Paolo Moretti

Welcome to the club, buddy. EDD's phone system is a nightmare. I've been trying for weeks to get through. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to talk to anyone 🤬

It's sad but it seems to be a universal issue with EDD. The lack of transparency and the difficulty in reaching them is ridiculous.

am i the only 1 who thinks its crazy that we have to jump thru all these hoops just to get basic help? the system is broken af 😤

Preach! 🙌 It's like they're trying to discourage people from getting the benefits they're entitled to.

For real. We pay into this system, but when we need it, it's impossible to use. Something needs to change.

The frustration is palpable, and it echoes a lot of people's sentiments that the EDD needs a drastic overhaul to better serve the public.

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through. Also, keep hitting 0 or # repeatedly - sometimes that'll bypass the automated system and get you to a human.

Keisha Jackson

Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a shot tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

I tried that and it didn't work for me. The system just kept saying "invalid option" and then hung up on me. EDD's phone system is a joke.

It seems like their system changes frequently. I've heard mixed results from others trying the same thing.

Unpopular opinion: maybe if we all stopped calling constantly, the lines wouldn't be so jammed and it'd be easier to get through 🤷‍♂️

Bruh, people are calling cuz they need help. What else are we supposed to do? 🙄

Found the EDD employee 👀

Zoe Papadakis

Lol, definitely not an EDD employee. Just thinking out loud. But yeah, I get why people keep calling.

It's a fair point that constant calls contribute to the problem, but it's a catch-22 since they have legitimate needs.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been in the same boat for months now. It's ridiculous how hard they make it to get any help. Have you tried reaching out to your local assemblymember? Sometimes they can help push things through.

0 coins

-

Keisha Jackson

I hadn't thought of that. How do I find out who my assemblymember is?

0 coins

-

7M

Javier Gomez

Just google "[your city] assemblymember" and it should come up. Most of them have a form on their website where you can request help with state agencies. Worth a shot!

Reaching out to local government officials can sometimes expedite processes. It might be a hassle, but it could be effective.

Plot twist: what if there are no actual humans working at EDD and it's just a building full of answering machines? 🤔👽

0 coins

-

Ravi Choudhury

Dude, you might be onto something. I've never actually SEEN an EDD employee... 👀

Nah, if it was all machines it'd probably work better 😂

This theory, while humorous, underscores the frustration many feel with the impersonal nature of the system.

I finally got through last week after trying for a month. Here's what I learned: 1. Be persistent. It took me 37 calls in one day to finally get through. 2. Have all your info ready. Once you get someone, you don't want to waste time looking for stuff. 3. Be nice to the rep. They're dealing with angry people all day, so a little kindness goes a long way. 4. Take notes during the call. Write down the rep's name and any info they give you. 5. If they can't help, ask to speak to a tier 2 specialist. 6. Follow up with an email summarizing the call. This creates a paper trail. Hope this helps someone!

This is super helpful, thank you! 37 calls in one day though... oof. Guess I better clear my schedule 😅

The fact that we need a strategy guide just to talk to a government agency is insane. But thanks for the tips!

Persistence and preparation appear to be key. While this might not be ideal, it increases the odds of success.

Has anyone tried using the online portal? I know it's not great, but I managed to get some info about my claim there without having to call.

0 coins

-

Keisha Jackson

I tried, but it keeps giving me an error when I try to log in. Idk if it's just me or if the site is having issues.

The online portal is hit or miss. Sometimes it works, sometimes it's down for "maintenance" 🙄 Classic EDD...

-

7M

It's unfortunate that even their online systems aren't consistently reliable. Still, it's worth trying as an alternative to phone calls.

Anyone else feel like they're playing the lottery every time they call EDD? 😅 "And today's winning number is... not yours! Try again tomorrow!" 🎰📞

LMAO this is too accurate 💀

I heard a rumor that they're updating their phone system soon. Anyone know if there's any truth to that?

0 coins

-

Aisha Rahman

LOL, I'll believe it when I see it. They've been saying that for years.

0 coins

-

7M

CosmicCrusader

Even if they do, watch it be just as bad as the current one. EDD and technology don't mix well 😂

0 coins

While updates might be in the works, EDD's history with system changes hasn't inspired much confidence. Let's hope for the best, though.

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should all just show up at the EDD office in person. They can't ignore us if we're right there, right? Who's down for an EDD field trip? 🚌

I'm in! We can bring snacks and make a day of it 😂

Showing up in person might make a statement, but it's important to ensure it's done peacefully and respectfully.

Here's what worked for me: 1. Call exactly at 8:00 AM when they open 2. If you get the "too many callers" message, hang up and redial immediately 3. Keep doing this until you get into the menu system 4. Once in the menu, choose the option for employers (even if you're not one) 5. This usually has a shorter wait time 6. When you get a person, explain your situation and ask to be transferred to the right department It took me a few tries, but I finally got through using this method. Good luck!

0 coins

Keisha Jackson

Wow, thanks for the detailed instructions! I'll definitely try this tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed it works!

It's frustrating that such roundabout methods are necessary, but many people have found success with this approach.

Serious question: has anyone had any luck contacting EDD through social media? I've seen some people tweeting at them, but idk if that actually works.

0 coins

-

Emma Davis

I tried DMing them on Twitter. They just sent me a link to the same useless FAQ page on their website 🙄

0 coins

-

7M

GalaxyGlider

I've seen them respond to some tweets, but it's usually just generic "please call this number" responses. Worth a shot tho?

0 coins

-

7M

Malik Robinson

Social media might be worth a try, but responses are likely to be limited. Still, it can be a way to publicly highlight issues.

Has anyone tried faxing their documents instead of calling? I heard it might be faster, but idk where to even find a fax machine in 2023 lol

0 coins

-

Yara Sabbagh

Wait, faxing? What year is it? 😂

0 coins

-

7M

Keisha Johnson

There are online fax services you can use. But knowing EDD, they probably have one fax machine from 1995 that's always jammed 🙄

0 coins

-

7M

Paolo Rizzo

Faxing might feel outdated, but it can be surprisingly useful. Online fax services can help bring this method into the digital age.

PSA: Don't forget to check your spam folder for emails from EDD. I almost missed an important notice because it got filtered out.

0 coins

-

Oh snap, good call. Gonna check mine right now.

This! 👆 Happened to me too. Their emails look so sketchy that even Gmail thinks they're spam lol

It's good to regularly check spam folders for important emails. Often, crucial communication gets misdirected.

Pro tip: if you're calling about SDI, make sure you're calling the right number. The main EDD number won't help with SDI claims. You need to call 1-800-480-3287 for SDI specifically.

0 coins

-

Keisha Jackson

Oh shoot, I didn't realize there was a different number for SDI. Thanks for the heads up!

The humor here highlights the desperation people feel. Hopefully, more practical solutions are on the horizon.

Ethan Clark

If you're facing persistent obstacles when trying to reach EDD about your SDI claim, you are not alone. Many people are in the same boat, finding it exceedingly difficult to connect with a human representative. One potential tool that might help is Claimyr, which, while it requires a financial investment of $20, has reportedly been effective for some users by handling the call for you and then transferring it to your phone once a representative is reached. It's a costly solution in a situation where reaching a government service should be free, but for many, the time saved is worth the cost. However, it's important to vet these services for legitimacy and security. On the other hand, traditional methods like calling right at opening, using specific call sequences, or even contacting a local assembly member can sometimes provide alternate paths to resolution. It's crucial to explore all available options and weigh the potential costs and benefits of each.

Guys, I think I've cracked the code. The trick is to call EDD while standing on one foot, wearing your lucky socks, and chanting "please pick up" three times. Works 60% of the time, every time. 😎

Keisha Jackson

LOL at this point I'm desperate enough to try anything. BRB, gotta find my lucky socks 😂

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Isabella Oliveira

Wait, you have to PAY to talk to EDD? That's messed up. Shouldn't this be a free service?

0 coins

-

7M

Ravi Kapoor

Sounds sketchy. How do you know it's legit?

0 coins

-

7M

I get the skepticism, but I was desperate and it actually worked for me. Yeah, it sucks to pay, but after wasting hours trying to get through, it was worth it to finally talk to someone.

While the legitimacy of Claimyr is vouched for by some users, it's also worth noting that some people feel uncomfortable with the idea of a paid service for this. It's critical to explore all options.
