SDI claim status check: Tips to reach EDD human after hours on hold?
Has anyone else been waiting forever to follow up on their SDI claim? I've been trying to get through to someone for hours now. Just need to check on the status of my claim and see what's going on with the payment. This waiting game is driving me crazy! Any tips on how to actually talk to a human being at EDD?

If you're struggling to reach someone at EDD regarding your SDI claim, a service like Claimyr can be a useful tool, though it's not without controversy. While it has helped people who are willing to pay to bypass endless hold times, it's seen as a workaround to a problem that shouldn't exist. Ideally, the EDD should address these issues internally by improving their systems and hiring more staff. Additionally, trying alternative contact methods like email or involving local government representatives might provide assistance without extra costs. Ultimately, patience and persistence remain key. Stay organized with your documentation, keep checking any official updates, and importantly, reach out to community support groups where others share their experiences and insights.

Here's what I've learned after dealing with EDD for way too long: 1. Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if it feels hopeless. 2. Try calling at odd hours. Sometimes early morning or late afternoon works better. 3. Be prepared with all your info when you do get through. Have your claim number, ID, and any relevant dates ready. 4. If you get a unhelpful rep, politely end the call and try again. Some are more knowledgeable than others. 5. Document everything. Write down who you talked to, when, and what they said. 6. Check your online account regularly for updates. 7. If all else fails, contact your local representative or senator's office. They can sometimes cut through the red tape. Remember, you're not alone in this struggle. The system is overwhelmed, but don't give up!

Great advice! I'd add: be nice to the reps. They're dealing with angry people all day.

Another tip is to join local support groups on social media. Sometimes you can find specific advice for your area.

Pro tip: put the phone on speaker and mute it. Then just check every few minutes. Saves your sanity!

I actually found a white noise app that blocks it out. Total game changer.

Have you guys seen the new online portal? It's supposed to make things easier, but tbh it's just as confusing as the old system 🤔

I actually find it a bit better. At least you can see your claim status now without calling.

I think they should have done more testing before rolling it out. Half the links don't work for me.

That sounds rough. Have you tried any local community resources or charities? Sometimes they can help tide people over.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help expedite things with EDD. Worth a shot if you're really stuck!

Yes, I reached out to mine, and they were helpful. They at least got me some answers when EDD was silent.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been trying to follow up on my claim for what feels like forever. It's so frustrating! Have you tried emailing them? Sometimes that works better than calling.

I haven't tried emailing yet. Do you have the address? I'll give anything a shot at this point.

I tried emailing too, but they took ages to respond. Why can't they just hire more staff?

I heard a rumor that they're hiring more staff to handle calls. Anyone know if that's true?

I'll believe it when I see it. Or hear it, I guess 🙄

Even if its true, itll probably take forever to train them. Were still screwed for now.

If they do hire more staff, I hope they also improve training and resources for them. That would make a big difference.

Plot twist: what if there are no actual humans working at EDD and it's all just an elaborate AI system designed to frustrate us? 🤖👀

If it was AI, it might actually work better lol. This is just good old-fashioned bureaucratic incompetence.

If only AI would take over, maybe we'd get faster responses. Until then, it's just us up against the red tape.

Welcome to the club, buddy. I've been in the same boat for weeks now. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to reach anyone. Have you tried calling right when they open? That's worked for me... once.

That early morning call trick does seem to be the best bet. It's crazy that we have to game the system just to get through.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wow, that sounds too good to be true. Is it legit? Has anyone else tried this?

I tried Claimyr too and it worked for me, but I wish it wasn't necessary. It's like having to pay a toll just to access your own benefits.
