Money Network direct deposit taking forever after certification - BofA was faster

Seriously frustrated here! I just certified for my weekly benefits on Sunday and still haven't received any payment. I entered all my direct deposit information correctly through UI Online last Thursday (double-checked everything), but nothing has hit my bank account. With the old BofA card system, I'd usually see the funds within 24-48 hours after certifying. Is the new Money Network bank just super slow or am I missing something? How long are people waiting for direct deposit these days? This delay is really screwing up my budget for the month...

The Money Network system is definitely slower than the old BofA setup. I've been on UI since February and it typically takes 3-4 business days for direct deposit to hit my account after certification. EDD has to process your certification first (showing 'paid' status), then Money Network processes the transfer. Have you checked your UI Online account to see if your payment status shows 'paid' yet?

Just checked and it does show 'paid' as of this morning! But money still isn't in my account. Do weekends count as business days for them or just Monday-Friday?

Money Network takes 3-5 business days for direct deposit transfers after your claim shows 'paid' status. Only Monday-Friday count as business days, and holidays can delay it further. If you certified Sunday, and it showed paid Tuesday or Wednesday, you might not see the money until Friday or even next Monday. With Bank of America, funds were loaded directly onto the card, but with Money Network there's an extra transfer step to your personal bank account. If you need faster access to your funds, you can still use the Money Network debit card which typically gets funded 1-2 days before direct deposit completes.

Thanks for explaining! Nobody told me the card option was faster. Maybe I should switch back to just using the card instead of waiting on direct deposit. I just hate carrying another card...

If you're having trouble reaching EDD to check on your payment status, I highly recommend using Claimyr. I was in the same boat as you last month - payment stuck in limbo and couldn't get through on the phone. Claimyr helped me get connected to an EDD rep in about 25 minutes instead of spending days redialing. Their system holds your place in line and calls you back when an agent is available. Saved me a ton of stress! You can see how it works at claimyr.com or check out their demo: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km

It's definitely not a scam. I was skeptical too but it worked for me twice now. The second time I got through to an EDD specialist who handled my claim issue in minutes. Without it I would've been calling for days or weeks.

The REAL issue isn't Money Network - it's that EDD has intentionally slowed down the payment process to prevent what they claim is "fraud" but is really just budget management on their part. I've had claims with both systems and BofA was 24-48 hrs MAX while Money Network CONSISTENTLY takes 3-5 business days. One rep actually admitted to me they implemented additional "security measures" (her exact words) with Money Network that causes delays. And let me tell you something else - if you have ANY small issue with your certification, with BofA they'd still usually process payments while reviewing. With Money Network they halt EVERYTHING until review is complete! It's a DISGRACE how they treat people who need this money to survive!!!

While I understand your frustration, there were legitimate fraud concerns with the BofA system that led to the change. Money Network does have additional verification steps, but those protect both claimants and the system integrity. The 3-5 business day timeline for direct deposit is standard for ACH transfers across most financial institutions.

Oh please. The "fraud concerns" were massively overblown to justify a system that makes it harder to get paid. And 3-5 days is NOT standard when we're talking about the same agency that could deposit funds in 24 hours before! They CHOOSE to make us wait longer now.

When I first got my Money Network card in March I had all kinds of problems with my direct deposit. Turns out I had entered my account number wrong (put my routing number twice by accident lol). Double check all your bank info is correct in UI Online. Also make sure your name matches EXACTLY how it appears on your bank account.

Update: The money FINALLY hit my account this morning! So it took exactly 5 business days from certification to deposit. Seems like everyone was right about the longer timeframe with Money Network vs BofA. Guess I'll need to plan better for these delays in the future. Thanks for all the advice!

Glad to hear it finally came through! Yeah, definitely plan for that 5-day window going forward. It's annoying but at least it's consistent.
