Money Network debit card website suddenly blocked - 'service not available' error
I'm having the weirdest issue with my EDD Money Network debit card website access. My husband tried logging in yesterday using our home computer (same one we ALWAYS use) and got this message: "Sorry, service is not available at this time from your device or current location." Nothing has changed with our internet or computer setup, and he successfully logged in just last week to check his balance. His unemployment payments are still being deposited on the card, but now we can't access the account to transfer money to pay bills. Has anyone else run into this error message recently? Any suggestions on how to fix it? Getting really frustrated because we need to pay rent in 3 days!

•We've tried three times over the last two days and keep getting the same message. It's definitely not just a temporary maintenance thing at this point. 😩

This happened to me last month! The error message is sometimes triggered by the Money Network's security system if there's any change in your connection. Try these steps: 1. Clear your browser cache and cookies completely 2. Try using a different browser (Firefox instead of Chrome, etc.) 3. Make sure you're not using a VPN or proxy service 4. If possible, try from a different internet connection (like your phone's hotspot) If none of those work, you'll need to call Money Network directly at 1-866-320-8699. Be prepared to verify your identity with several security questions.

•Thank you so much for the detailed suggestions! We just tried using Firefox instead of Chrome and it WORKED! I can't believe it was that simple. We were really starting to panic about accessing the funds. You're a lifesaver!

THE MONEY NETWORK WEBSITE IS GARBAGE!!!! I've dealt with this same error message THREE TIMES since January 2025. It's not your device or your fault - their security system is overly aggressive and flags normal logins as suspicious. Sometimes they even block entire zip codes or ISPs!!! The EDD needs to dump them and go back to Bank of America cards or just use direct deposit for everyone.

•Yeah but BofA was even worse tho. Remember the massive fraud issues they had? My neighbor had his entire unemployment balance stolen in 2023 and BofA took 5 months to investigate. At least Money Network has better fraud protection even if their website sucks

If changing browsers didn't work, another option is to call Money Network's automated phone system to check your balance and even transfer funds to your bank account. The number is 1-866-320-8699 - just follow the prompts. I use it when I can't access the website and it works fine most of the time. Also, for future reference, I'd recommend setting up direct deposit if possible. You can change your payment preference in your UI Online account under "Payment Method." Direct deposit eliminates all these Money Network card hassles!

•Great suggestion about direct deposit! We initially chose the card option because we heard direct deposit takes longer to set up, but these website issues are making me reconsider. I'll look into switching through UI Online. Thanks!

When I was collecting unemployment in February, I had a similar problem but it was because my IP address changed (got a new router). I called Money Network's customer service but kept getting the "high call volume" message and never got through after trying for 3 days straight. I finally used Claimyr to reach an EDD agent who connected me directly to Money Network's dedicated EDD line. Worked amazingly well - the Claimyr service calls EDD for you and holds your place in line, then calls you when an agent is available. Check out their demo: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km or go to claimyr.com. Saved me hours of frustration!

•I've used Claimyr too when I had issues with my certification getting stuck in pending. It was worth it just to avoid the stress of calling EDD over and over. But for Money Network specific issues, you might want to try calling very early in the morning (like 7:01am) when their phone lines first open. That sometimes works to bypass the long wait times.

•THIS EXPLAINS EVERYTHING!!! I knew something was up. EDD and Money Network never tell us ANYTHING when they make changes that affect our ability to access our benefits. So typical of this broken system. 🤬

For anyone still following this thread, I wanted to add some helpful information. Money Network has confirmed they've implemented new security protocols in April 2025 that can sometimes trigger these access errors. They recommend: 1. Ensuring your browser is updated to the latest version 2. Disabling any ad blockers or privacy extensions when accessing their site 3. Registering your device through their enhanced security portal You can also request a one-time security bypass by calling their verification team at 1-866-320-8699 and selecting option 3, then 2, then 1 from the menu. Just be prepared to verify your identity with information from your EDD claim. Hope this helps anyone still experiencing issues!

•Thank you for sharing this official information! We got our issue resolved by switching browsers, but I'll save these instructions for future reference. The menu options for the security bypass are especially helpful!

I had this exact same issue last week! What worked for me was actually logging out of ALL banking websites first, then clearing my entire browser history (not just cache), restarting my computer, and then trying again. Something about having multiple financial sites open at once was triggering their security system. Also make sure you're typing the URL directly instead of clicking saved bookmarks - sometimes the saved links get flagged as suspicious. If you're still having trouble, try accessing it from an incognito/private browsing window. The Money Network security is super finicky but these steps usually work!

•That's really helpful about logging out of other banking sites first! I never would have thought that could cause conflicts with Money Network's security system. The incognito window tip is smart too - I'll definitely try that next time we have issues. It's crazy how sensitive their system is to seemingly normal browsing behavior. Thanks for sharing what worked for you!

I've been dealing with Money Network issues for months now and here's what I've learned from trial and error: their system has gotten SUPER sensitive since they updated their fraud detection. A few things that have worked for me when I get that "service not available" message: 1. Use a wired internet connection instead of WiFi if possible - their system sometimes flags wireless connections as "unstable" 2. Make sure your computer's date/time is set correctly - sounds weird but it matters for their security checks 3. Don't use autofill for your login info, type everything manually 4. If you've moved recently or your ISP changed your IP address, you might need to call and update your "registered location" The most frustrating part is they never tell you WHY you're blocked, just that generic error message. I keep a backup plan now - I have the Money Network mobile app AND I know the phone system menu by heart (1-866-320-8699, press 1, then 2, then enter your card number). It's not ideal but at least I can always check my balance and transfer funds even when the website is being difficult. Hope this helps someone avoid the panic I went through the first time this happened!

•Wow, thank you for such a comprehensive breakdown! The wired connection tip is something I never would have considered - who knew Money Network's system was that picky about WiFi vs ethernet? And the date/time setting issue is wild but makes sense from a security standpoint. I'm definitely going to bookmark that phone menu sequence you shared (1-866-320-8699, press 1, then 2) - having a reliable backup when the website fails is so important when you're dealing with urgent bill payments. It's ridiculous that they don't provide clear explanations for why accounts get blocked, but your troubleshooting guide is incredibly helpful for the rest of us dealing with this broken system!

I just went through this exact same nightmare two weeks ago! The "service not available" error is so vague and unhelpful. What finally worked for me was a combination of things: I cleared ALL my browser data (cookies, cache, stored passwords, everything), then used a different device entirely (borrowed my sister's laptop), and made sure I wasn't connected to any VPN. Turns out their system had somehow flagged my usual setup as suspicious even though nothing had changed on my end. The really annoying part is that Money Network's customer service couldn't even tell me WHY I was blocked - they just kept saying "security reasons" and told me to try the website again in 24-48 hours. Luckily the phone system (1-866-320-8699) worked fine for checking my balance and doing transfers while I waited for the website issue to resolve itself. For anyone still struggling with this, I'd also recommend trying to access the site at different times of day. I noticed I had better luck logging in during off-peak hours (like early morning or late evening) when their servers probably aren't as overloaded. The whole Money Network system seems held together with digital duct tape honestly! 😤

•Thanks for sharing your experience! The timing tip about off-peak hours is brilliant - I never thought about server load affecting their security system's behavior. It makes total sense though that their already finicky system would be even more sensitive when it's overloaded during busy periods. The fact that customer service can't even explain why accounts get flagged is so frustrating! At least we have this community to share actual solutions with each other. I'm definitely going to try the early morning login approach next time I have issues. It's sad that we have to work around their broken system instead of them just fixing it properly! 🙄

I just dealt with this same error message last month and it was driving me crazy! After trying everything else, what finally worked for me was completely uninstalling and reinstalling my browser. Sounds extreme but apparently some browser extensions or corrupted data can trigger their overly sensitive security system. Also, if you're using any password managers or autofill features, try disabling those temporarily when logging into Money Network. Their system seems to flag automated form filling as suspicious activity. I know it's a pain to type everything manually, but it's better than being locked out when you need to pay bills! One more thing - if you have multiple tabs open with other financial sites (like your bank or credit card accounts), close those first before trying to access Money Network. Their fraud detection apparently gets paranoid when it sees you're logged into multiple financial services at once. The whole system is ridiculous but at least there are workarounds! Hope this helps and you get access back soon! 🤞

•The browser reinstall tip is actually genius! I never would have thought that corrupted browser data could trigger their security system, but it makes sense. I've been struggling with this same error for days and getting nowhere with their customer service. Definitely going to try the full browser reinstall approach - at this point I'm willing to try anything! The part about closing other financial tabs is really smart too. It's crazy that Money Network's system is so paranoid it treats normal multitasking as suspicious, but I guess that's the reality we're dealing with. Thanks for sharing what actually worked for you instead of just the generic "try again later" advice! 🙏

I've been dealing with Money Network access issues on and off for the past year and I think I've figured out their security system's quirks. Here's what works consistently for me: First, try the "nuclear option" - completely sign out of EVERYTHING (Gmail, Facebook, any other accounts), close ALL browser tabs, restart your router AND your computer, then try accessing Money Network as the very first website you visit. Sounds overkill but their system seems to get confused by any "digital footprint" from other sites. If that doesn't work, the issue might be your ISP. I discovered that some internet providers (especially smaller local ones) get temporarily blacklisted by Money Network's fraud detection. You can test this by trying to log in using your phone's mobile data instead of your home WiFi - if it works on mobile data, that confirms it's an ISP issue. Last resort that's worked for me twice: create a completely new user profile in your browser (not just incognito mode, but an actual new browser profile). This gives you a totally clean slate that Money Network's system won't recognize as "suspicious." The whole system is absolutely ridiculous and EDD really needs to find a better payment solution, but these workarounds have saved me multiple times when I needed emergency access to my funds! 💪

•This is incredibly thorough - thank you for breaking down all these different scenarios! The ISP blacklisting issue is something I never would have considered, and the mobile data test is such a smart way to diagnose that. I'm definitely going to try the "nuclear option" approach you described because I've been getting so frustrated with these random lockouts. The new browser profile tip is brilliant too - I had no idea that was even possible! It's honestly ridiculous that we need to become cybersecurity experts just to access our own unemployment benefits, but I really appreciate you sharing all these hard-earned solutions. This kind of detailed troubleshooting guide should be pinned at the top of every EDD forum! 🙌

I'm so glad I found this thread! I've been having the exact same "service not available" error for the past week and was starting to panic about accessing my benefits. Reading through everyone's solutions, it sounds like Money Network's security system is just incredibly broken and overly sensitive. I'm going to try the browser switching trick first since that worked for @Natasha Romanova, and if that doesn't work I'll move on to some of the more advanced solutions like the "nuclear option" @Miguel Harvey described. It's absolutely insane that we need to become IT troubleshooting experts just to access our own money! Has anyone had success getting EDD to acknowledge how problematic Money Network has become? It feels like they just ignore all the complaints about these access issues. At this point I'm seriously considering switching to direct deposit just to avoid dealing with this terrible card system altogether. Thank you all for sharing your actual working solutions instead of just complaining - this community is more helpful than Money Network's customer service! 🙏

•I completely understand your frustration @Alicia Stern! I went through this same nightmare just last month and it's maddening how broken Money Network's system is. The browser switching trick is definitely worth trying first - it's the simplest solution and worked for several people in this thread. If you do decide to switch to direct deposit, just keep in mind it can take 1-2 pay cycles to fully take effect, so you'll still need to deal with the Money Network card in the meantime. But honestly, after dealing with these constant access issues, direct deposit seems like the way to go for peace of mind. As for getting EDD to acknowledge the Money Network problems - good luck with that! I've tried calling and they just give you the runaround saying it's "not their system" even though they chose Money Network as their payment provider. It's so typical of how they handle everything - pass the buck and leave us to figure it out ourselves. At least we have this community to actually help each other with real solutions! 💪

I just went through this exact same issue yesterday and what finally worked for me was a combination of several suggestions from this thread. First I tried switching from Chrome to Edge (similar to the Firefox solution that worked for @Natasha Romanova) but that didn't help. Then I followed @Miguel Harvey's "nuclear option" - signed out of everything, restarted my router, cleared all browser data, and tried Money Network as the first site I visited. Still nothing! What FINALLY did the trick was @Fiona Sand's tip about using a wired connection instead of WiFi. I plugged an ethernet cable into my laptop and boom - logged right in! Apparently their fraud detection really does flag wireless connections as suspicious. It's absolutely ridiculous that we have to jump through these hoops just to access our own benefits, but at least there are solutions thanks to this amazing community sharing real fixes instead of the useless "try again later" advice from customer service. For anyone still struggling: try the wired connection approach if you haven't already. It seems like such a random fix but Money Network's security system is clearly broken in weird ways. Also keeping that phone backup number handy (1-866-320-8699) has been a lifesaver when the website inevitably acts up again! 🙄

•Wow, the wired connection fix is so random but makes perfect sense given how paranoid Money Network's system is! It's crazy that they treat WiFi as inherently suspicious - most people primarily use wireless these days. I'm definitely going to try this if I run into the same issue. Thanks for testing multiple solutions from the thread and sharing what actually worked! It's frustrating that we need to become network troubleshooting experts just to access unemployment benefits, but at least we have this community figuring out real solutions. The fact that you had to try three different approaches before finding one that worked really shows how broken their security system is. Saving that phone number too - seems like having multiple backup plans is essential with this unreliable system! 📝

I just wanted to share another potential solution that worked for me when I had this same "service not available" error last week. After trying most of the browser-based fixes mentioned here without success, I discovered that my antivirus software (McAfee) was actually blocking some of Money Network's security scripts in the background. I temporarily disabled my antivirus firewall for just long enough to log in successfully, then immediately re-enabled it. Apparently some antivirus programs flag Money Network's enhanced security protocols as potentially suspicious and block them silently without any notification. You might also want to check if you have any browser security extensions like uBlock Origin or Ghostery that could be interfering with their login process. Also, I noticed that Money Network seems to work better on weekdays during business hours versus evenings and weekends - probably less server load during those times as @Emma Davis mentioned. If you're still having issues after trying the other solutions, it might be worth attempting to log in during different parts of the day. This whole situation really highlights how unreliable the Money Network system is. I'm seriously considering switching to direct deposit after reading everyone's experiences here. Thanks to everyone for sharing actual working solutions instead of just venting frustration!

•That's such a helpful insight about antivirus software interfering with Money Network's login process! I never would have thought to check my security software as the culprit. McAfee and other antivirus programs can definitely be overly aggressive about blocking scripts they don't recognize. Your tip about temporarily disabling the firewall just long enough to log in is really smart - gives you access without leaving your computer vulnerable for long. I'm going to check my browser extensions too since I do use uBlock Origin and that could definitely be causing conflicts. The timing suggestion about weekday business hours is spot on - it makes total sense that their already fragile system would be even more unreliable during peak usage times. Really appreciate you sharing another angle to troubleshoot this nightmare of a system! 🛡️

I've been following this thread closely because I'm dealing with the exact same "service not available" error right now! It's honestly amazing how many different solutions everyone has found - it really shows just how broken Money Network's security system is when there are like 15 different workarounds needed. I'm going to start with the simple browser switch that worked for @Natasha Romanova, then try the wired connection fix from @Landon Morgan if that doesn't work. The antivirus interference issue that @Malik Johnson mentioned is really eye-opening too - I have Norton running and never thought it could be silently blocking Money Network's scripts. What's really frustrating is that Money Network and EDD act like these issues don't exist, but clearly tons of people are struggling with the same problems. This community thread has been more helpful than any official customer service! I'm definitely going to bookmark all these solutions and that backup phone number (1-866-320-8699) because it seems like this is an ongoing issue that keeps happening to people. Has anyone successfully gotten through to EDD to complain about how unreliable Money Network has become? It feels like they need to hear from more people about these widespread access problems, but I'm not holding my breath that they'll actually do anything about it. 😤

•I'm in the exact same boat right now! Just tried logging in this morning and got hit with that dreaded "service not available" message. This thread has been a goldmine of actual solutions - way better than spending hours on hold with their useless customer service. I'm going to work through these fixes systematically starting with the browser switch and moving up to the more advanced troubleshooting if needed. It's absolutely ridiculous that we need a whole community troubleshooting guide just to access our own benefits! I tried calling EDD about Money Network issues a few months back and they literally told me "that's not our department" and transferred me in circles. They clearly don't want to take responsibility for choosing such a broken payment system. At least we have each other to figure out these workarounds! Thanks everyone for sharing what actually works instead of just the generic "try again later" nonsense. 🙄

I've been dealing with similar Money Network access issues for months now and want to add one more solution that's worked for me multiple times. If you're still getting the "service not available" error after trying all the browser fixes, check if your computer's DNS settings are using your ISP's default servers. I switched to using Google's public DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare's (1.1.1.1) and that resolved the issue immediately. Apparently some ISP DNS servers get flagged by Money Network's overly paranoid security system. You can change this in your network adapter settings or router configuration. Also, I've noticed that if you get locked out, waiting exactly 24 hours before trying again seems to work better than repeatedly attempting to log in. Their system appears to have some kind of "cooldown period" that gets extended if you keep trying too soon. It's absolutely insane that we need to become network engineers just to access our unemployment benefits, but hopefully this helps someone avoid the panic and frustration I went through! Keep that backup phone number handy (1-866-320-8699) - it's been a lifesaver when all else fails.
