Money Network card delivery timeline after EDD payment issued - worried about fraud

Hey all, I just received my first EDD payment notification on Tuesday but I'm still waiting for my Money Network card to arrive in the mail. I'm getting a bit nervous with all the mail theft and fraud going on these days. My claim was approved for $647/week and I can see the first payment was issued, but I'm not sure how long I should expect to wait before the actual card shows up. Does anyone know the typical timeframe between first payment and card delivery? I'm in Sacramento area if that makes any difference for mail times. At what point should I worry and call to report a missing card? Thanks!

mine took like 10 days after my first payment was approved. think they say 7-10 business days on their website but who knows with the post office these days lol

Thanks for the info! So roughly two weeks is normal then? I'm just paranoid someone might steal it from my mailbox.

The official timeline from EDD is 7-10 business days after your first payment is issued. Remember that business days don't include weekends or holidays. If you don't receive it within that timeframe, you should definitely call Money Network directly at 1-866-320-8699 to report it possibly lost/stolen. Don't wait too long because if someone does get your card, they could drain your benefits. Also, as soon as you get your card, immediately register it online and set up account alerts. You can also set up direct deposit through the Money Network app once you have your card so future payments go straight to your bank account instead.

THIS!! Register it online ASAP when u get it!! My neighbor had her card stolen right from her mailbox last year and lost almost $2000 before she realized what happened!!

The EDD and their stupid Money Network cards are THE WORST!!! I waited almost THREE WEEKS for mine last year while my bills piled up. Called Money Network and they were useless - said it was "in the mail" but couldn't tell me anything else. When I finally got it, the activation process was a nightmare too - kept saying my information didn't match their records even though I was entering everything EXACTLY as it appeared on my claim. Why can't they just use direct deposit from the beginning like a normal government agency??? The whole system seems designed to make everything as difficult as possible.

They actually do offer direct deposit now, but annoyingly you still have to get the Money Network card first before you can set it up. It's definitely not ideal when you're waiting for that first payment and have bills due.

I'm dealing with a similar situation - my payment was issued 8 days ago but no card yet. I'm in the Central Valley and mail service here has been terrible lately. One thing I learned from the EDD website is that the cards are mailed from South Dakota, so that adds to the transit time. I've been trying to call the EDD to ask about this, but of course I can't get through. Has anyone used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to reach an agent? I saw a video demo (https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km) and it looks like they can actually get you connected to a real person at EDD. Wondering if it's worth trying to check on my card status.

i used claimyr last month when i had issues with my certification being stuck as pending and it worked great. got thru to someone in like 20 mins instead of spending all day calling. definitely worth it if ur in a hurry

To answer your specific question about when to call - if it's been more than 10 business days since your payment was issued, you should definitely contact Money Network. Their customer service is actually better than EDD's in my experience. One important tip - when your card does arrive, immediately transfer the funds to your bank account using the Money Network app or website. Don't leave large amounts sitting on the card. There have been numerous reports of card skimming at ATMs targeting these cards specifically. Also, be aware that the envelope is very plain and doesn't say EDD or Money Network anywhere on it - it's designed to not attract attention, but that also means it can be easily mistaken for junk mail. It will come from "Bank of America" even though they're not handling the cards anymore.

Thank you for the detailed info! Really helpful to know about the plain envelope - I'll watch my mail extra carefully. Will definitely transfer funds to my bank account ASAP once I get it.

my freind didnt get his card for almost a month becuz they sent it to his old adress even tho he updated everything in the system!!! make sure ur address is correct in BOTH edd account AND money network when u activate it!

That's a really good point about making sure your address is updated in both systems. They don't always sync up immediately which is another design flaw in the system.

This is why I HATE the EDD system so much! Why should people already struggling without income have to wait weeks for a stupid piece of plastic to access THEIR MONEY that's already been approved??? It's 2025 for crying out loud! Every other financial service can send money electronically from day one!

preach! 👏 its like they're living in the stone age with their systems

Just to wrap this up with some accurate information: 1. Official timeline: 7-10 business days from first payment issued 2. If not received by then, call Money Network at 1-866-320-8699 3. The envelope is plain and comes from South Dakota 4. Once received, register online immediately 5. Set up direct deposit for future payments 6. Keep your address updated in BOTH systems Hope this helps! Let us know when your card arrives.

Update: My card finally arrived today - took exactly 9 business days from when payment was issued. Thanks everyone for the advice! I've registered it online and am setting up direct deposit right now.
