EDD Money Network card delivery time after first payment - still waiting after 2 weeks

I finally got my first unemployment payment processed a little over two weeks ago (showing as 'paid' on my UI Online account), but I still haven't received my Money Network debit card in the mail. Getting really anxious because I have bills coming due next week. The payment was pretty substantial ($1,450) since it included back weeks. My UI Online account doesn't show any issues, and the payment date was 5/7/2025. I'm in Sacramento, so I didn't think mail delivery would be that slow. How long does it normally take for the card to arrive after the first payment shows as paid? Should I be worried about theft? I've checked my mailbox obsessively every day!

In my experience, the Money Network cards typically arrive 7-10 business days after your first payment is processed. Since you're at the two-week mark, you're definitely approaching the outer limit of normal delivery times. A few things to consider: 1. Make sure your mailing address in UI Online is correct 2. Check if you can track the card status on the Money Network website 3. If it doesn't arrive by the end of this week, call Money Network directly at 1-866-320-8699 to report a missing card They can expedite a replacement card if needed, though there might be a fee for that service.

Thanks for the info! I double-checked my address in UI Online and it's definitely correct. I didn't realize I could contact Money Network directly - I thought I had to go through EDD for everything. I'll give them a call tomorrow if nothing shows up today.

Omg thank you for the warning about the envelope! I'll make sure to check everything carefully before tossing anything.

The Money Network cards are taking forever now. My wife and I both filed claims about 3 months apart (I was laid off in January, she was let go in April), and both of our cards took nearly 3 weeks to arrive. The system is just overwhelmed with the recent economic downturn in the tech sector. One thing to keep in mind: the card comes from Money Network, not EDD directly. So calling EDD probably won't help much with tracking the card. You need to contact Money Network customer service for that. Also, once you do get the card, make sure to set up the direct deposit feature in the Money Network app so future payments go straight to your bank account. Saves so much stress!

Wait what? You can set up direct deposit from the Money Network card to your bank acct?? I've been transferring money manually every time like a dummy. Didn't even know there was a Money Network app!

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!! I waited THIRTY-TWO DAYS for my card last month!!! Called Money Network SEVEN times and got different answers every single time. One rep told me 'oh we sent it' another said 'no record of card being mailed' and another said 'system shows pending'... WHICH IS IT??? Then when it FINALLY came, the activation process didn't work right and I had to spend 2 MORE hours on the phone!!! EDD is just hoping people give up so they don't have to pay!!! It's disgusting treatment of people who are already struggling!!!

Oh no, that sounds like a nightmare. I hope mine doesn't take that long... I'm already getting anxious about it. Did you do anything special to finally get them to send it?

Had to basically THREATEN them with a complaint to the state banking commission before they suddenly 'found' my card information and expedited a new one. The whole thing is DESIGNED to be difficult!!

If you're having trouble reaching Money Network about your card delivery status, I'd recommend using Claimyr to connect with an EDD representative who can check the status in their system. Sometimes the EDD reps can see more information about card status than what's visible to us on UI Online. I was in a similar situation last month - payment showed as paid but no card for almost 3 weeks. Used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to EDD directly and found out there was a verification flag on my account that was holding up the card issuance, even though the payment showed as paid. The rep fixed it while I was on the phone and my card arrived 5 days later. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km

is this service legit? seems sketchy to use a third party to reach edd

quick question - isnt there a way to just get direct deposit from the beginning instead of waiting for the card? my friend said she got direct deposit right away but i cant figure out how she did that

Unfortunately, no. California EDD initially sends everyone a Money Network debit card for the first payment. After you receive the card, you can then set up direct deposit for future payments. It's a two-step process, unlike some other states that offer direct deposit from the start.

UPDATE: My card FINALLY arrived today! It took exactly 17 days from when the payment was marked as paid. The envelope was super plain like someone mentioned - just a white envelope with a PO Box return address in Texas. Almost looked like junk mail! For anyone else waiting, hang in there. And definitely check EVERY piece of mail carefully!

Glad to hear you finally got your card! 17 days is definitely on the longer side but at least it arrived safely. For future reference, once you activate the card, you can also sign up for text or email notifications through the Money Network app to get alerts when new payments are loaded. Really helps with peace of mind so you don't have to keep checking your UI Online account constantly. Also, a tip I learned the hard way - if you're going to use the card at ATMs, stick to the ones in their network (usually found at major banks) to avoid fees. The fee structure can get pretty expensive if you're not careful about where you withdraw cash.

Thanks for the ATM tip! I had no idea there were fees for using the wrong ATMs. Do you know which banks are typically in their network? I'm hoping to avoid any surprise charges when I start using the card.

From what I remember, Bank of America ATMs are usually fee-free for Money Network cards, and I think Wells Fargo too. There's also a ATM locator feature in the Money Network app that shows you all the nearby fee-free locations. Definitely worth checking before you make your first withdrawal!

So relieved to hear your card finally arrived! I'm currently in a similar situation - my first payment showed as paid 12 days ago and still no card. Reading through all these comments has been both reassuring and nerve-wracking at the same time lol. I'm definitely going to follow the advice about calling Money Network directly if it doesn't show up by early next week. Had no idea they handled the card delivery separately from EDD. Also making a mental note to check every single piece of mail super carefully - that plain envelope thing would have totally fooled me! Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and timeline estimates. This thread has been way more helpful than anything I could find on the official EDD website.

Hang in there! 12 days is still within the normal range based on what everyone's shared here. I was checking my mailbox like a crazy person too when I was waiting for mine. The plain envelope thing really is no joke - I almost missed it even after being warned! Definitely call Money Network if you hit the 15-16 day mark. And maybe check with your mail carrier or apartment office if you have one to make sure nothing got misdelivered. The waiting is the worst part but it sounds like most people eventually get their cards, just takes longer than anyone would like.

I'm currently waiting for my Money Network card too - it's been 9 days since my first payment showed as "paid" in UI Online. Reading through everyone's experiences here is honestly both helpful and terrifying at the same time! The range seems to be anywhere from 7 days to over 3 weeks, which is such a huge variation. I'm trying to stay patient but bills don't wait, you know? Planning to give it until day 15 before I start making calls to Money Network. Quick question for those who've been through this - did anyone notice if the card delivery time varies by region? I'm in the Bay Area and wondering if location makes any difference in processing/shipping times. Thanks to everyone sharing their timelines and tips! This community is way more informative than any official EDD resource I've found.

I'm in the Bay Area too and mine took about 14 days, so location doesn't seem to make a huge difference unfortunately. The variability seems more related to how backed up their card processing center is at any given time rather than regional mail delivery. One thing I noticed is that weekends and holidays don't count toward business days, so when you're calculating that 7-10 day window, make sure you're only counting weekdays. That helped me manage my expectations a bit better when I was in the waiting phase. The 15-day rule before calling sounds like a solid plan!

I'm on day 11 of waiting for my Money Network card after my first payment showed as paid. This thread has been incredibly helpful - way better info than anything on the EDD website! Based on everyone's experiences, it sounds like I'm still in the normal range but getting close to when I should start getting concerned. I've been religiously checking my mail every day and nearly threw away what looked like junk mail twice already after reading about the plain envelope situation. One thing I'm curious about - for those who had to call Money Network, what information did they ask for to verify your identity? Want to make sure I have everything ready if I need to call next week. Also planning to double-check my address in UI Online one more time just to be absolutely sure. The waiting is brutal when you have rent due, but at least knowing other people went through the same thing and eventually got their cards helps with the anxiety!

When I called Money Network, they asked for my SSN, full name as it appears on my EDD account, and the date of my first payment. They also wanted to confirm my mailing address. Having your UI Online account open while you call is helpful too since they might reference payment dates or amounts. Day 11 is still reasonable based on what I've seen here, but definitely good to be prepared for that call if you hit the 2-week mark. The plain envelope thing is so real - I almost tossed mine thinking it was some random credit card offer!

I'm on day 8 waiting for my Money Network card and this thread has been a lifesaver! Way more useful than calling EDD directly. It's reassuring to see that most people eventually get their cards, even if it takes longer than expected. I've already started checking every piece of mail super carefully after reading about the plain envelope situation - almost opened my neighbor's mail by mistake yesterday because I was so paranoid about missing it! Quick tip I discovered: if you create an account on the Money Network website using your SSN, sometimes you can see if a card has been issued even before it arrives in the mail. It won't show tracking info, but at least you'll know it's in the system. Might help ease some anxiety while waiting. Planning to give it until day 15 before calling Money Network directly. Thanks everyone for sharing your timelines and experiences - this community support makes such a difference when you're stressed about money!
