EDD Money Network card still not received after payment showing paid - when should I expect it?

I checked my UI Online account yesterday and saw that my first unemployment payment was processed and shows 'paid' status from 4 days ago. However, I still haven't received the Money Network debit card in the mail. This is my first time on unemployment, so I have no idea how long it typically takes for the card to arrive after the payment is processed. Should I be concerned? Is there a way to check the card's mailing status? My rent is due next week and I'm getting a little anxious about whether the card will arrive in time. Anyone know the typical timeline for card delivery?

Thank you! That's a relief to hear. So it's normal that the payment is processed before the card arrives? I was worried something went wrong with my claim.

The Money Network debit card typically arrives 7-10 business days after your first payment is processed. It's completely normal for the payment to show as 'paid' on your UI Online account before you receive the physical card. The payment is already loaded onto your card, but the card itself is being processed and mailed separately. If it's been more than 10 business days since your first payment was processed, you can contact Bank of America EDD card services at 1-866-692-9374 to check on the status. Just be prepared with your personal information for verification purposes. Once you do receive your card, make sure to activate it immediately by following the instructions that come with it. You'll also want to set up your PIN for ATM withdrawals and purchases.

This is super helpful information, thank you! I'll wait the full 10 business days before getting too worried. Does the card come in any special packaging? I just want to make sure I don't accidentally throw it out with junk mail.

I NEVER GOT MY CARD and had to call for a replacement!!! After waiting 3 weeks!! Make sure your address is 100% correct in the system. If there's ANY discrepancy between what EDD has and what Bank of America has, your card could be returned or lost. Double check your address in UI Online RIGHT NOW to make sure it's correct. The system is a MESS!

Oh no, that sounds like a nightmare! I just checked my address in UI Online and it's correct. Is there anything else I should be checking?

If you're really worried about timing with your rent, you should know that once you have your card, you can transfer the money to your regular bank account. It's not instant though - it usually takes 2-3 business days for the transfer to complete. Just something to keep in mind for planning purposes.

You can also set up direct deposit for future payments so you don't have to deal with the card at all! Go to UI Online and look for payment preferences. Direct deposit is way faster than card transfers.

The card comes in a plain white envelope that doesn't say EDD on it. Really easy to miss! It just says Bank of America on the return address. Keep an eye out!

If it's been more than 10 business days and you still haven't received your card, getting through to EDD on the phone can be nearly impossible these days. I had success using Claimyr to connect with an EDD representative quickly. They have a service that helps you bypass the busy signals and actually get through to a real person. It saved me hours of frustration. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The EDD rep I spoke with was able to verify that my card had been sent and gave me the exact date it was mailed, which was really reassuring.

Thank you for this suggestion! I'll keep this in mind if my card doesn't arrive by next week. It would be really helpful to at least know the status of the card shipment.

Good tip! I didn't even know there was an app. Is it the Bank of America app or is there a specific EDD Money Network app?

Just to give you some good news - I received my first payment on a Tuesday, and my card arrived the following Monday. So about 4 business days for me. I think they've gotten better at processing these quickly compared to the pandemic days when everyone was waiting weeks for cards.

The waiting is the worst part of the whole process! When I was waiting for mine, I found that tracking my informed delivery from USPS helped ease my anxiety. You can sign up for free and they'll email you pictures of the mail coming to your address each day. That way you know if your card is arriving that day.

That's a brilliant idea! I just signed up for informed delivery. Now at least I'll know what to expect in my mailbox each day. Thank you!

Don't stress too much about it! I went through the same anxiety when I was waiting for my first card. Since your payment shows as "paid" from 4 days ago, you're right on track for the typical 7-10 business day timeline everyone mentioned. The system actually works pretty smoothly - the payment gets loaded onto your card account immediately when it shows "paid," but the physical card takes time to be manufactured and mailed. One thing that helped me sleep better was calling my landlord early to give them a heads up that my payment might be a few days late due to waiting for the unemployment card. Most landlords are understanding about unemployment situations, especially if you communicate proactively. You might also ask if they accept any payment apps like Zelle or Venmo once you get your card and can transfer the funds. Hang in there - you're almost at the finish line!
