How to access EDD funds before Money Network card arrives? Got NOC but no card
So frustrated right now! I received my Notice of Computation (NOC) from EDD last Tuesday, which I understand means they've calculated my weekly benefit amount. It shows I'll be getting $450/week which I desperately need. But there's been zero info about when my Money Network debit card will arrive. My landlord is already breathing down my neck, and I need groceries ASAP. Does anyone know if there's a way to access these funds before the physical card arrives? Is direct deposit an option at this point or am I just stuck waiting? The EDD website is absolutely no help, and I've called like 20 times only to get the automated 'too many callers' message. Any advice would be really appreciated!

•9 days?! I literally can't wait that long. Did you try calling that Money Network number to see if they could expedite it?

Unfortunately, you can't access the funds until you have the Money Network card in hand. Once you've received your Notice of Computation, your card is typically mailed within 7-10 business days, though shipping times can vary. There are a few things you can do: 1. Call the Money Network customer service at 1-866-320-8699 to check if your card has been mailed and possibly request expedited shipping (though there may be a fee) 2. Once you do receive the card, you can set up a transfer to your personal bank account through the Money Network mobile app or website 3. For future payments, you can switch to direct deposit, but that won't help with funds already loaded to the card You're in that frustrating waiting period many of us have experienced. The system isn't designed for those who need immediate access to funds, unfortunately.

•Thank you for the detailed information. I'll try calling Money Network to see if they can at least tell me when it was mailed out. Do you know if the expedited shipping is worth the cost? And how much they usually charge for that?

DONT WASTE UR TIME calling money network!! they wont do anything till the card is already in the mail system. EDD is TERRIBLE at communicating timelines. they don't care if we have bills!!!!

•Actually, Money Network CAN help in some cases. I've worked with them before and while they can't create a card if EDD hasn't ordered one yet, they can confirm if one has been ordered and potentially expedite shipping once it's in their system. It's worth trying rather than just waiting with no information.

•3 WEEKS?! That's insane! Did you try contacting anyone during that time? I'm going to be evicted if I have to wait that long.

While you're waiting for your Money Network card, you should log into your UI Online account and set up direct deposit for future payments. This won't help with any money already issued to the card, but will ensure that future payments go directly to your bank account. To do this: 1. Log into UI Online 2. Go to 'Payment Methods' 3. Select 'Direct Deposit' 4. Enter your bank information Also, make sure your mailing address is correct in the system. I've seen cases where cards were delayed because they were sent to old addresses. If you've moved recently, double check this immediately.

•Thank you - I've already verified my address is correct. I'll definitely set up direct deposit for future payments once I can get into the system. But that still doesn't solve my immediate issue of needing this money right now.

I had a similar issue back in February. Got the NOC but waited FOREVER for the card. What helped me was using Claimyr to get through to an actual EDD rep. They connected me with someone who confirmed my card was ordered and gave me the exact date it was mailed. At least that gave me some peace of mind. You can check them out at claimyr.com - they have a video showing how it works at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. It was so much better than wasting days trying to get through on my own.

I work with EDD claims regularly. Here's what you need to know: 1. There's a gap between when EDD approves your claim (and sends the NOC) and when Bank of America/Money Network issues the card. This gap is typically 5-10 business days but can be longer. 2. Unfortunately, there is no way to access the funds before receiving the physical card. The Money Network card system is separate from the direct deposit system. 3. Once you receive your card, IMMEDIATELY set up direct deposit through UI Online for future payments. 4. If it's been more than 10 business days since your NOC, you should contact EDD directly as there might be an issue with your card issuance. The first card is always the longest wait. Once you switch to direct deposit, you'll get payments much faster.

•This is really helpful, thank you. It's only been 5 business days since my NOC arrived, so I guess I'm still within the normal timeframe. I'll try to be patient, but it's just so stressful when you're watching your bank account dwindle to nothing.

When I was waiting for my card I remember calling the BofA EDD number like 5 times before I finally got someone who told me my card was already mailed but they couldn't tell me exactly when it would arrive. Then my mailman delivered it to the wrong address and that was a whole other nightmare! Have you checked if the payments are even showing as paid in your UI Online account? Sometimes they send the NOC but haven't actually processed payments yet.

•That's a good point - I should check if payments are showing as paid yet. I'm going to log in right now and see what it says. I didn't even think to look there.

UPDATE: I just managed to get through to EDD (kept calling back-to-back this morning) and they confirmed my first payment was processed yesterday! The representative said the card should arrive within 7-10 business days from payment processing. She also said I can set up direct deposit for future payments once I activate the card. I'm still frustrated about the wait, but at least now I know the money is coming. Thanks everyone for your help and advice!

•Great news! Glad you got through and got some clarity. The first payment and card is always the most stressful part of the process. Once you set up direct deposit, you'll get payments much faster. Make sure you keep certifying on time while you wait!
