Got EDD decision letter, can't get through on phone. Help!

Hey everyone, I just got a decision letter from EDD and I'm not sure what to do next. Has anyone else dealt with this recently? I tried calling but got put on hold forever. Any advice on how to actually talk to someone there?

Ugh, I feel your pain. EDD's phone system is a nightmare. I've been trying to get through for weeks. Have you tried calling right when they open? Sometimes that works for me.

Tried that. No luck. Its like playing the lottery, except you never win 😭

Same boat here. I've heard some people have luck calling later in the day, like an hour before they close. Might be worth a shot?

Thanks for the tips! I'll give it a try. This whole process is so frustrating.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda sketchy.

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

Can you explain more about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

Yeah, basically. They have some tech that navigates the phone menu and detects when a real person picks up. Then it calls you. Beats sitting on hold all day!

Here's what you need to know about EDD decision letters: • Read it carefully! The letter should explain why they made their decision. • If you disagree, you have 30 days to appeal. • To appeal, you need to fill out the appeal form that came with your letter. • Make sure to include any new information or evidence that supports your case. • If you're confused about anything in the letter, definitely try to speak with an EDD rep for clarification. • Keep copies of EVERYTHING you send to EDD. • While waiting for the appeal, you might still be able to certify for benefits, so keep doing that if you can. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed info! Really appreciate it. I'll definitely start working on my appeal right away.

I'm in the same situation. Been trying to get through for days. This system is so broken, it's ridiculous. How are we supposed to survive when we can't even get basic help?

Preach! šŸ‘ The whole thing is a joke. They need to hire more people or fix their tech or SOMETHING.

Hey OP, what exactly does your decision letter say? Sometimes the wording can be confusing, but it might give us a better idea of what you're dealing with.

It says something about me not meeting the eligibility requirements, but I don't understand why. I've been working steadily for years before this.

Hmm, that could mean a few different things. Definitely try to get clarification from EDD. In the meantime, start gathering any proof of your work history, just in case you need to appeal.
