EDD called me to call back - What to expect and how to prepare?

Hey everyone, I just got a call from EDD telling me to call them back. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I expect when I call? Any tips on how to handle the conversation or what information I should have ready? I'm a bit nervous about it and could use some advice.

Ugh, I've been there. It's usually not as bad as you think. Just make sure you have your claim number and social security number handy. They might ask about your work history or why you filed for unemployment. Stay calm and be honest, you'll be fine!

This ⬆️ Also, write down any questions you have beforehand. It's easy to forget stuff when you're on the spot.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely prepare a list of questions. Any idea how long the call usually takes?

It can vary, but I'd set aside at least an hour just to be safe. Better to have too much time than not enough!

I found a method to get someone on the phone quickly. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

20 bucks? Thats kinda steep for just a phone call 🤔

I get the skepticism, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny IMO. And yeah, it's legit - there are reviews online if you wanna check.

Pro tip: call early in the morning right when they open. You'll have a better chance of getting through without a long wait. And dont forget to have a pen and paper ready to take notes!

lol good luck. I've been trying to reach them for weeks. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to talk to a real person. The whole system is a joke 🤡

Preach! 🙌 I swear they hire people just to hang up on us

Have you tried contacting your local assembly member? They can sometimes help push things through.

Here's a detailed breakdown of what to expect and how to prepare: 1. Gather all relevant documents: claim paperwork, ID, pay stubs, etc. 2. Write down your work history for the past 18 months 3. Note any specific issues or questions about your claim 4. Be ready to explain why you're unemployed 5. Have a calendar handy to discuss dates 6. Stay calm and professional 7. Take notes during the call 8. Ask for a reference number at the end of the call 9. Follow up with an email summarizing the call if possible Remember, the EDD staff are there to help. Be patient and courteous, even if you're frustrated. Good luck!

Wow, this is super helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to write all this out. I feel much more prepared now.

Great advice! I'd add: if you don't understand something, don't be afraid to ask them to explain it again. It's better to get clarity during the call than to be confused later.

Anyone know if theyre still doing those extra federal benefits? I heard they ended but my cousin swears he's still getting them 🤷‍♂️

The extra federal benefits ended a while ago. Your cousin might be confusing it with something else or getting a different type of assistance.

I had to call them back last month. Turns out they just needed to verify some info on my application. NBD. Hope its something simple for you too!

Protip: if u cant get thru, try calling the employer line and act like ur a biz owner. sometimes they can transfer u to the right dept. Shady? Maybe. But desperate times call for desperate measures 😈

Bruh 💀 that's actually genius

I wouldn't recommend this. If they catch on, it could cause problems with your claim. Not worth the risk imo.
