EDD says paid but Money Network card not showing funds yet - normal delay?
I certified for unemployment at 6AM this morning and checked my UI Online account about 2 hours later. It already shows 'PAID' status for both weeks, but when I logged into my Money Network account, there's no sign of the money being deposited yet. This is my third certification cycle and the previous two times, the money appeared on my card same day. Is there something going on with the system today? Anyone else experiencing delays with Money Network deposits? I've got bills scheduled for auto-pay tomorrow and really need this money to hit my account today!

relax its normal. sometimes it takes 24-48 hrs for $ to show up even when EDD says paid. bank holiday yesterday might be slowing things down to.

•Thanks, that makes me feel a little better. I didn't even think about the holiday affecting processing times. Hopefully it posts by tomorrow morning then.

This is a common issue and nothing to worry about. When EDD marks your certification as 'PAID', it means they've approved the payment, but it still needs to be processed through the banking system to reach your Money Network card. Bank holidays do slow things down, and there's also a difference between when funds are authorized versus when they actually post to your account. The EDD processes payments in batches, so depending on what batch your payment was in, it could take anywhere from a few hours to 1-2 business days to show up. I'd suggest checking your transaction history on the Money Network app/website rather than just the balance, as sometimes pending deposits show there first.

•Not always true! Last month my claim said PAID for 5 days and nothing on my card. Had to call EDD and they said there was a verification flag on my account even though UI Online showed PAID. Sometimes the system shows incorrect status and you NEED to talk to a rep!!!

Same thing happening to me right now! Certified at 5pm yesterday, shows paid but nothing on my card yet. First time this has happened in 6 months of claims.

The payment processing timeline depends on several factors: 1. When you certified (early morning certifications usually process faster) 2. Bank holidays (which delay ACH transfers) 3. Whether you have any partial wages reported (slows processing) 4. Random selection for additional verification Give it until end of day tomorrow before worrying. If nothing by then, you'll need to speak with an EDD representative directly. Unfortunately, their phone lines are notoriously difficult to get through. I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com) which helps you connect with an EDD agent much faster than calling directly. They have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. I was skeptical at first but was able to speak with an EDD rep within 25 minutes when I had a similar issue last month.

•Thanks for the detailed explanation. I'll definitely wait until tomorrow afternoon before panicking. And good to know about that service if I need to call - I've never been able to get through to EDD on my own.

•EDD switched from Bank of America to Money Network for new claims in July 2024. If you had an active BoA card before the switch, you could still use it until its expiration date, but all new claims receive Money Network cards now. You might want to check with EDD if you file a new claim, as you'll likely need to switch to the new system.

UPDATE: My payment just hit my card! Took about 30 hours from certification to deposit. Hopefully yours comes through soon too!

•Thanks for the update! Mine is still showing as pending in the transaction history, but at least I know it's on the way for tomorrow. Crisis averted!

This is really helpful to see everyone's experiences! I'm new to unemployment benefits and just got my Money Network card last week. Haven't had to certify yet but this gives me a good idea of what to expect with the timing. Sounds like checking the transaction history is key - I wouldn't have thought to look there instead of just the main balance. Good to know about potential delays too, especially around holidays.
