EDD payment stuck at same date for two weeks - worried about claim freeze

I certified on time for my bi-weekly benefits, but something weird is happening. When I log into UI Online, it still only shows my last payment from January 11th (two weeks ago). Nothing's updated and no new payment has processed. I called EDD this morning and after finally getting through, the rep just told me the system still shows my January 11th payment as the most recent one. Nothing about why my next payment isn't showing up or when it might come through. My claim balance definitely has enough remaining funds. I have bills coming due next week and I'm starting to stress out. Has anyone experienced a payment delay like this? Is this normal processing time or should I be worried that my claim got flagged for some reason?

Prolly identity verification issue. Happens all the time wen they think ur someone else. Check ur inbox, they mightve sent u something that u missed

Thanks! Just checked my inbox again and there's nothing new from EDD. No messages asking for additional verification or anything like that.

This could be caused by several things: 1) a quarterly review of your claim that sometimes happens at the beginning of the year, 2) a pending eligibility interview that wasn't scheduled yet, or 3) a system glitch where your certification was received but not processed. Here's what I recommend: - Check the status of your certification (does it say "pending" or "paid"?) - Look at your claim history to see if there's any message about a "determination" or "interview" - If your certification shows "pending" for more than 10 days, you definitely need to speak with a claims specialist Unfortunately, the regular EDD phone staff often can't see or resolve these issues - you need to speak with a Tier 2 claims specialist.

My certification shows as "received" but not "paid" yet. There's nothing about an interview or determination in my claim history. This is so frustrating! How do I get through to a Tier 2 specialist? The person I talked to this morning wasn't helpful at all.

THE EXACT SAME THING is happening to me right now!!! Jan 11 payment and nothing since then even though i certified on time! I called 14 TIMES today and couldn't get through. The system is obviously broken and they don't care about us at all. I'm about to lose my apartment because of this!!!

Hang in there. I had something similar last month and it turned out there was a flag on my account for "excessive earnings" from a temp job I had in December. Took almost 3 weeks but they finally fixed it.

I went through this exact situation in November. The problem was that my quarterly earnings were being reviewed, which happens automatically with most claims. The system didn't tell me this was happening - it just looked like my payment was stuck. If your certification shows as "received" but not "paid," that's the key indicator that there's a review or hold. The only way to resolve it is to speak with a Tier 2 specialist who can see what's specifically holding up your claim. I struggled for days to reach someone helpful until I used Claimyr (claimyr.com). It's a service that helps you get through to an EDD representative without spending hours redialing. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. The service got me connected to a specialist who saw that my claim needed to be manually released from review. The money was in my account the next day.

That makes a lot of sense about the quarterly review! I didn't even think about that since it's January. I'll check out that Claimyr service - at this point I'm desperate to talk to someone who can actually see what's happening with my claim. Appreciate the tip!

ya i tried that claimyr thing two - does it actually work? seems sketchy but im desperate at this point tbh

has anyone else noticed that these delays always seem to happen after holidays? i swear after christmas and new years the system always gets backed up. not saying thats whats happening but just throwing it out there

YES!!! Every single holiday there are "system issues" or "processing delays" - it's just their excuse for not doing their jobs! So many people suffering because they can't get their act together!

Did your claim happen to reach the end of a benefit year recently? When I had a similar issue last month, it turned out my benefit year had ended and the system was automatically reviewing my claim before beginning a new benefit year. The representative had to manually override something to get my payments flowing again. Also, double-check that your certification answers didn't accidentally trigger a review. Even small inconsistencies between certifications can cause the system to flag your account. Things like reporting different job search activities or answering work availability questions differently can cause delays. If you can't get specific answers by phone, consider using the Contact EDD function in your UI Online account to send a message specifically asking about the payment delay. Sometimes the written inquiries get more detailed responses than phone calls.

No, my benefit year still has about 5 months left. I did check my certification answers and they were consistent with my previous ones. I'll try the Contact EDD function right now - didn't realize that might get a more detailed response. Thanks for the suggestion!

I had delay like this once. Did you get new Money Network card recently? Mine switch over and payment went to new card but website didnt update for like 3 weeks lol

No, I've had the same Money Network card for months. I just checked the balance on it and there's no new deposit. But thanks for the suggestion!

Quick update based on your responses: since your certification shows as "received" but not "paid" after two weeks, and there's no message about an interview or determination, this is definitely something that needs specialist attention. The Contact EDD message is a good start, but you'll likely need to speak with someone. If you've tried calling the main number repeatedly without success, request a callback through your UI Online account or try calling right when they open (8:00 AM). The quarterly review theory seems most likely given the January timing. Once you reach a claims specialist, specifically ask them to check if your claim is under quarterly review and if they can manually release the payment.

Thanks so much for the follow-up! I submitted a Contact EDD message and I'll try calling right at 8:00 AM tomorrow. I'll specifically ask about the quarterly review. Will update here once I get this resolved in case it helps others!

UPDATE: Finally got this resolved! I used that Claimyr service to get through this morning and spoke with a Tier 2 specialist. Turns out my claim WAS under quarterly review - you were right! The specialist said January is when they conduct a lot of these reviews, and mine got flagged because I had some part-time work in October. Once she verified everything, she manually released the payment and said it should be on my Money Network card within 24-48 hours. She also said if I hadn't called, it might have taken another week to clear automatically. Thanks everyone for the help!

Great news! And thanks for updating the thread. This will definitely help others who run into the same issue. Quarterly reviews are very common but the EDD doesn't communicate them well. Glad you got it sorted out!

Thanks for the update!!! I'm going to try that service too because I'm STILL waiting and getting desperate. Glad you got your money!!!

So glad you got this figured out! This is exactly why I recommended looking into quarterly reviews earlier. It's frustrating that EDD doesn't notify people when their claims are under review - would save everyone a lot of stress and confusion. Your experience will definitely help others who find themselves in the same situation.
