EDD disputing past claim with no explanation - what questions should I ask?

Hey everyone, I just got a letter about a dispute on my past claim. The letter doesn't say why they're disputing it. Has anyone dealt with this before? I'm not sure what to do or what questions to ask when I call them. Any advice?

I found a way to solve EDD claim dispute issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j01ZbR14eoI

Ugh, that sucks. The EDD can be so vague sometimes. When I had a similar issue, I made a list of questions before calling. Here are some you might want to ask: - What specific part of my claim is being disputed? - Is there any additional information or documentation I need to provide? - What are the next steps in this process? - Is there a deadline for responding to this dispute? - How long does the dispute process typically take? Hope this helps! Good luck dealing with the bureaucracy 🙄

Thank you so much! This is really helpful. I'll definitely use these questions when I call. Did you end up resolving your issue?

Yeah, I did eventually. It took about 3 weeks of back-and-forth, but persistence paid off. Just keep good records of all your communications!

Great list! I'd add: Ask if theres a specific department handling disputes. Sometimes getting to the right person can speed things up.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/0UZGuPWGErg

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep.

It worked for me! I was skeptical too, but after spending hours trying to get through, it was worth it. Saved me so much time and frustration.

How long did you have to wait after using the service? Did they call you back right away?

It took about 2 hours for me, but it was way better than constantly redialing. They text you updates, so you can go about your day until they connect you.

Have you tried contacting your local assembly member or state senator? They sometimes have staff dedicated to helping with EDD issues. It helped me get my claim unstuck last year.

Just Google '[your city] state assembly member' or '[your city] state senator'. Their websites usually have a 'Contact Us' page where you can explain your situation.

This is solid advice. My assemblyman's office got back to me within 48 hours and had my issue resolved in a week. Def worth a shot!

Protip: Document EVERYTHING. Every call, letter, and interaction. It'll save your butt if things get messy. I learned this the hard way 😭

💯 this! I keep a spreadsheet with dates, times, and names of everyone I talk to. It's come in handy more than once.

Preach! 🙌 Sometimes I wonder if they intentionally make it confusing just to discourage people.

Nah, never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence. The EDD is just a hot mess express 🤡

Hey OP, make sure to check your online account too. Sometimes they post more detailed info there that doesn't make it into the letters they send out. Good luck!
