EDD asking for additional info to approve claim - what to expect?
Hey everyone, I just got a letter saying I need to provide more info for my claim to be approved. Has anyone else dealt with this? What kind of additional stuff did they ask for? I'm kinda worried about messing this up and having my claim denied. Any advice would be super helpful!

Ugh, been there done that. They always seem to need 'just one more thing' š In my case, they wanted proof of income from the last 18 months. Make sure you send EVERYTHING they ask for, and then some. Better to overwhelm them with info than miss something crucial.

ā¢Same here! I even included a cover letter explaining each document. Felt like I was writing a dissertation š

ā¢Thanks for the advice! Did you just mail everything in or is there a way to upload docs online?

ā¢I mailed mine in, but I've heard theres an online portal now. Might be worth checking their website to see if you can do it digitally - probably faster tbh

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

ā¢I get the skepticism, but after spending hours trying to get through, it was worth every penny to me. Saved me a ton of stress and got my issue resolved quick.

ā¢Can confirm, I used it last week. Felt weird paying but honestly saved me so much time and headache.

Here's what you need to know: ⢠Read the letter carefully - it should specify exactly what they need ⢠Common requests include: proof of income, identity verification, employment history ⢠Make copies of EVERYTHING you send ⢠If mailing, use certified mail so you have proof of delivery ⢠Keep a log of all communication with them (dates, times, who you spoke to) ⢠Don't miss the deadline they give you! ⢠If you're unsure about anything, call and ask for clarification Remember, they deal with thousands of claims. The more organized and thorough you are, the smoother the process will be. Good luck!

ā¢This is solid advice! The certified mail tip is especially important - I learned that the hard way when they claimed they never got my documents the first time I sent them regular mail. Cost me an extra month of waiting š¤

Quick tip: if you have a smartphone, download a scanner app. You can scan all your docs and save them as PDFs. Makes it way easier to keep track of everything and submit online if that's an option.

Anyone else feel like they're playing a game of bureaucratic bingo? š I swear, every time I think I'm done, BAM! Another form or document needed. At this point, I'm convinced they'll ask for a lock of my hair and my first-born child next.
