EDD PFL claim - letter says missing info but doesn't specify what. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my paid family leave claim. The letter I got says there's missing information, but it doesn't specify what exactly is missing. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to figure out what they need from me?

Ugh, I've been there. The EDD can be so frustrating with their vague letters. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that's the only way to get a straight answer.

•I've been trying to call all morning, but the lines are always busy. It's driving me crazy! 😤

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I usually have better luck getting through that way.

•Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

•Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. It saved me hours of frustration.

•20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep for just a phone call 🤔

•I get it, but for me, it was worth it. Time is money, and I wasted so much time trying to get through on my own.

Check your online account if you haven't already. Sometimes they update the info there before sending out letters.

This happened to me last year. Turns out they needed additional medical certification from my doctor. Might be worth checking with your healthcare provider to see if they received any requests from EDD.

•Oh, that's a good idea! I'll give my doctor's office a call. Thanks!

The whole system is a joke. They make it so hard to get basic information. I swear they do it on purpose to discourage people from claiming benefits. 🤡

Here's what I've learned from dealing with EDD for paid family leave claims: 1. Double-check all your submitted documents. Make sure you've filled out every field, even if it doesn't apply (write N/A). 2. Verify that your employer has submitted their portion of the information. 3. If you're claiming for bonding time, ensure you've provided the birth certificate or adoption papers. 4. For medical leave, make sure your healthcare provider has completed the medical certification form thoroughly. 5. Check if your identity verification is up to date. Sometimes they require additional proof. 6. Look for any correspondence in your online account - sometimes they send messages there that don't come by mail. 7. If all else fails, calling is usually the best bet. Be persistent and try different times of the day. Remember, patience is key. The system is frustrating, but eventually, you'll get it sorted out. Good luck!

Oof, missing info on PFL claims is the worst. Hang in there, OP. You'll get it sorted eventually!

I went through this exact same situation a few months ago! The vague "missing information" letters are so frustrating. In my case, it turned out they needed an updated wage statement from my employer because the dates didn't match up with my claim period. What helped me was logging into my EDD online account and looking at the "Notices" section - sometimes there are more specific details there that don't make it into the mailed letters. Also, if you submitted your claim recently, double-check that all your forms were signed and dated properly. I missed a signature on one of the secondary pages and that held everything up for weeks. Hope this helps and you get it resolved soon! The waiting is the worst part. 🤞

•This is so helpful, thank you! I just checked my online account and you're right - there was more detail in the notices section that wasn't in the letter. Looks like they need an updated certification from my doctor with specific dates. Really appreciate you sharing your experience!

Similar thing happened to me last month! The generic "missing information" letters are so unhelpful. What worked for me was going to my local EDD office in person - I know it's a pain, but the staff there could actually look at my file and tell me exactly what was missing (turned out to be a specific form my employer needed to resubmit). Sometimes the online system and phone reps can't see the same level of detail. If you can't get to an office, try the suggestion about checking your online account notices - that's where I found the most specific info. Hang in there!

•That's really good advice about visiting in person! I didn't even think about going to a local office. Do you know if you need an appointment or can you just walk in? I'm willing to take a day off work if it means getting this sorted out faster than waiting on hold for hours.

I just went through this nightmare last week! The "missing information" letter is the most useless thing ever. Here's what finally worked for me: I logged into my SDI Online account (not just the regular EDD portal) and there was actually a detailed message in the inbox that listed exactly what was missing. In my case, it was because my doctor's office had submitted the medical certification but forgot to include the "functional capacity" section on page 2. Also, if you're doing bonding leave, make sure you uploaded a clear copy of the birth certificate - mine was apparently too blurry and they rejected it without telling me specifically why. The whole process took 6 weeks longer than it should have because of their vague communication. Don't give up though, just keep digging through every section of your online account!
