Ugh, PFL can be such a pain! I went through this last year. What specific part are you stuck on? Is it the paperwork or are you waiting for a response?

Thanks for responding! I'm actually not sure where to start. I've filled out some forms but I don't know if I'm missing anything or if I've done it right. The whole process is confusing 😓

No worries, we've all been there! First thing's first, make sure you've got the DE 2501F form filled out completely. That's the main application for PFL. Did you submit that already?

I think so? But now I'm not sure. Is there a way to check if they received it?

You can try calling their customer service line, but good luck getting through lol. Maybe check your online account if you set one up? They usually send a confirmation email too.

PFL is a nightmare, I swear they make it complicated on purpose 🙄 Have you tried contacting your HR department? Sometimes they can help guide you through the process or at least point you in the right direction.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Wow, that sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep but I guess it's worth it if you actually get through...

Yeah, it worked for me! I was skeptical at first too, but after spending hours trying to get through myself, it was worth every penny. Got my issues sorted in one call.

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. They even have a money-back guarantee if you don't get connected. Saved me a ton of headache.

Here's a comprehensive guide to help you with your PFL claim: 1. Gather all necessary documents: - Medical certification from your healthcare provider - Proof of relationship for family member (if applicable) - Employment information 2. Fill out the DE 2501F form completely and accurately 3. Submit your claim online through SDI Online or by mail 4. Wait for the confirmation number or letter 5. Respond promptly to any requests for additional information 6. If approved, set up direct deposit for faster payments Remember, you have 41 days from the first day of your leave to file your claim. Don't wait until the last minute! If you're still stuck, don't hesitate to reach out to the PFL office directly. It might take some time, but persistence is key. Good luck!

Preach! 🙌 It's like they're hoping we'll just give up and not claim what we're entitled to.

Totally agree. It's a full-time job just trying to navigate the bureaucracy. And don't even get me started on the wait times... 🙄

Has anyone had experience with appealing a denied claim? I'm in the same boat as OP but further along in the process and just got denied. Feeling pretty hopeless rn 😞

I appealed successfully last year! Don't lose hope. Make sure you have all your ducks in a row and provide any additional evidence you can. It's a pain, but it can work out.

Really? That gives me some hope. How long did the appeal process take for you?

It took about 6 weeks for me, but I've heard it can vary. Just stay on top of it and don't be afraid to follow up!

Pro tip: Keep copies of EVERYTHING you submit. I learned this the hard way when they claimed they never received my medical certification 🤦♂️

Anyone else notice that the PFL website is always "under maintenance" when you actually need to use it? 🙃
