EDD certification error - 'Other income' question not showing as answered despite selecting options
I'm having a weird glitch with my bi-weekly certification this morning. I've completed all questions and selected 'No' for the 'Did you receive any other income based on work performed?' question, but when I get to the review page before submitting, that specific question shows up as unanswered! I've tried logging out and back in, cleared my browser cache, and even attempted on both my laptop and phone but getting the same issue. The system won't let me proceed because it thinks I skipped a question that I definitely answered. Anyone else experiencing this certification glitch today? My benefits are already delayed from a previous issue and I really can't afford another week without payment.

•So it's not just me! Have you tried on different devices too? I'm wondering if it's a system-wide issue.

This happens sometimes when the EDD system is experiencing high traffic volume, usually Sunday mornings when everyone's trying to certify at once. Try these steps: 1. Wait about 30 minutes, then try again 2. Use the desktop site instead of mobile if possible 3. Try a different browser entirely (Firefox instead of Chrome, etc.) 4. Make sure to click directly on the Yes/No radio button, not just the text label If none of that works, you might need to contact EDD directly as this could indicate a technical issue with your specific account.

•Good advice! Also worth noting that sometimes their system does maintenance early Sunday mornings. I usually certify after 10am to avoid these issues.

THE EDD WEBSITE IS GARBAGE!!! I've been dealing with their broken system for 4 months now and EVERY time I certify there's some new problem. Last month they randomly disqualified me because their system "couldn't verify my identity" even though I did the ID.me verification TWICE. Had to wait 3 weeks for them to fix it. Now I'm back to square one with this certification issue. WHY CAN'T THEY FIX THEIR WEBSITE?!?!?!

•I feel your pain... their website seems like it was built in 1998 and never properly updated. And good luck trying to call them about technical issues!

I'm experiencing the same issue right now, but found a workaround! When you get to that question, instead of clicking the radio button itself, click on the empty space right next to it. For some reason, that registers properly. Then after answering all questions, before reviewing, go back to the previous page and then forward again. This seems to force it to update properly. Worked for me after 4 failed attempts.

•Thank you!! This actually worked! I had to click literally right next to the radio button, not on it, which is super counterintuitive. But after doing that and going back/forward like you suggested, it finally showed up as answered on the review page. Successfully certified now. What a weird glitch.

If you're still having trouble reaching EDD about this issue, I'd recommend trying Claimyr. Had a similar issue last month where my certification got stuck in this weird loop and I couldn't get through on the phone for days. Claimyr got me connected to an actual EDD agent in under 20 minutes who fixed my certification issue on the spot. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km and their website is claimyr.com. Saved me weeks of stress honestly.

This happened to me a couple months ago! It was so frustrating. In my case it was something to do with answering the work search question but then the "other income" question wouldn't save. I ended up having to certify by phone instead of online that week. Try calling the automated certification line at 1-866-333-4606 if the website keeps glitching.

•Thanks for the suggestion! Luckily I got it working with the workaround another user suggested, but I'll remember this for next time. Didn't even know phone certification was still an option.

•Yes, EDD is planning a system upgrade in March 2025. They mentioned there might be some intermittent issues during the preparation phase. They recommend certifying during off-peak hours (weekday afternoons or late evenings) for the next few months to avoid potential problems.

Update for anyone with the same issue: I got my certification to go through using the workaround that @profile2 suggested (clicking next to the radio button rather than on it). After submitting, I got the confirmation page right away, and my payment is now showing as pending in the portal. Hopefully it processes normally from here! Thanks everyone for your help.

•Great! Glad it worked for you too. Seems like a few people encountered this same bug today. Hopefully EDD fixes it before next certification period.

I just ran into this exact same issue about an hour ago! The workaround with clicking next to the radio button instead of directly on it totally saved me. It's such a bizarre glitch - makes you wonder how many people get stuck on this and just give up trying to certify. Really hope EDD gets this fixed soon because missing certification deadlines over a website bug is incredibly stressful when you're depending on these benefits. Thanks to everyone who shared solutions!

•Same here! I was getting so frustrated until I found this thread. It's crazy that such a simple UI bug can cause so much stress when people are already dealing with financial pressure. The fact that multiple people figured out the same workaround independently shows how broken this particular feature is. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences - this community is a lifesaver when EDD's systems fail us.

This exact same thing happened to me this morning too! I was getting so frustrated thinking I was doing something wrong. The workaround with clicking next to the radio button instead of directly on it worked perfectly for me as well. It's really concerning that EDD's system has such basic UI bugs that can prevent people from certifying on time. For anyone else running into this - be patient and try the workaround that Jay Lincoln suggested earlier in this thread. It might take a couple tries to get the positioning right, but it does work. Really hoping they fix this before the next certification period because this kind of stress is the last thing unemployed folks need to deal with!
