EDD account 'unavailable' after sending MD certification a month ago - no payment verification

Hey everyone, I'm in a frustrating situation with my unemployment claim. I sent in all the required info, including additional MD certification, over a month ago. I even got a confirmation that they received it. But now, when I try to check my account status, the phone system says it's 'unavailable.' I still haven't received any verification for payment. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on what to do next?

Ugh, classic EDD nonsense. I swear they make it impossible on purpose. Have you tried reaching out to them directly? Sometimes you gotta be persistent and keep calling until you get a human on the line.

I've been trying to call, but it's always busy or I get disconnected. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. Sometimes you can get through if youre one of the first callers of the day.

Calling when they open doesn't always work. I've tried that and still got the runaround. It's like playing the lottery 🎰

I had a similar issue last year. What worked for me was sending a follow-up email every week until I got a response. Be polite but firm, and include all relevant info in each email. It took about 3 weeks, but I finally got it sorted.

Thanks for the tip! Do you happen to have the email address you used? I couldn't find one on their website.

Oh shoot, you're right. I just checked and it looks like they've removed the email option. Sorry about that! Guess they're making it even harder to contact them now 🙄

Hey, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? Kinda skeptical about paying for something like this...

I get the skepticism, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

I've used it too. It's legit. Beats sitting on hold for hours or getting hung up on constantly.

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things along with EDD. It's worth a shot if you're not getting anywhere on your own.

Okay, let me break this down for you. I've been through the EDD wringer and come out the other side. Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and submissions. Include dates, times, and names if possible. 2. Be persistent. Call every day if you have to. Use that Claimyr service if you're desperate - it's worth the $20 if it saves you days of frustration. 3. Escalate. If you're not getting anywhere with regular reps, ask to speak to a supervisor or manager. 4. Reach out to your local assemblyperson or state senator. They often have staff dedicated to helping constituents with EDD issues. 5. Use social media. Sometimes tweeting at EDD or posting on their Facebook can get their attention. 6. Consider filing a complaint with the state labor board if it's been an unreasonable amount of time. 7. Join Facebook groups or other online communities for unemployment support. Sometimes you can get insider tips or at least moral support. Remember, the system is overwhelmed, but that doesn't mean you should give up. Stay persistent and document everything. Good luck!

Have you checked if there are any updates or known issues on the EDD website? Sometimes they post alerts about system problems or delays.

This might sound crazy, but have you tried faxing your documents? I know it's 2023, but sometimes these government agencies are stuck in the stone age. It worked for me when nothing else did.

Faxing? Seriously? I don't even know where to find a fax machine these days lol. But at this point, I'm willing to try anything. Thanks for the suggestion!

You can use online fax services if you don't have access to a physical fax machine. Just Google 'online fax service' and you'll find plenty of options.
