EDD account locked - says EDDCAN is incorrect after eligibility interview
I'm going crazy trying to check my claim status after my eligibility interview last week! Every time I try to log into UI Online it keeps telling me my EDDCAN number is incorrect. I've triple-checked the number from my paperwork and I KNOW I'm entering it right. I can't see if my claim was approved or denied after the interview and I'm getting really worried about paying rent next month. The weird thing is I was able to log in fine before the interview. Has EDD locked my account or something? Anyone know how to fix this or am I going to have to somehow get through on the phone?

This is actually a common issue after eligibility interviews - sometimes there's a temporary account lock while they process your determination. A few things to try: 1. Wait 24-48 hours and try again (the system often updates overnight) 2. Try using the "Forgot EDDCAN" option - sometimes this refreshes your access 3. Clear your browser cache and cookies completely 4. Try logging in from a different device (phone instead of computer) If none of those work, it likely means they've flagged your account for manual review after the interview, which unfortunately does require calling to resolve.

•Thank you! I tried the forgot EDDCAN option but they want to mail me a new one which takes 7-10 days 😱 I'll try the cache clearing thing tonight. Really hoping I don't need to call because that seems impossible.

I bet its cuz your eligibility is under review!! My brothers gf had this happen and it turned out her account was temp frozen while they were deciding on her interview. Its actully a good sign cuz means their DOING something with your claim not just sitting on it lol

•This is incorrect. Account access issues are separate from claim determination status. The EDDCAN error is either a technical issue or possibly related to identity verification problems. When an eligibility interview determination is pending, you can still log in - you just see a pending status.

This sounds like either an ID verification issue or possibly a technical problem on their end. Based on your timeline (being able to log in before the interview), I suspect they may have flagged something during your interview that needs additional verification. Unfortunately, this is one of those issues that absolutely requires speaking with an EDD representative to resolve. I know calling is frustrating - I was in the same boat last month trying to fix an issue after my interview. After three days of failed calling attempts, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got through to a rep in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Once you get through, ask specifically about: 1. Why your EDDCAN is being rejected 2. If there's an identity verification hold on your account 3. The status of your eligibility determination The rep should be able to reset your access and tell you the status of your claim.

•Thank you!! I'll check out that Claimyr thing. At this point I'd try anything because I've called like 50 times already with no luck. Did the rep tell you why your account was locked when you finally got through?

•Yes, turns out they had flagged my account for ID verification issues (even though I'd already done ID.me). The rep was able to clear the flag and restore my access while I was on the phone. She also told me my eligibility interview was approved, which was a huge relief!

THE EDD IS A COMPLETE DISASTER!!! I had the EXACT same issue for THREE WEEKS after my interview! Called 86 TIMES before getting through!!! The system is DESIGNED to lock you out and make it impossible to get help. They're hoping you'll just give up and go away. When I finally reached someone they acted like it was no big deal and fixed it in 2 minutes. OUTRAGEOUS!!! They're probably delaying your payments on purpose to save the state money!!!

•While the frustration is understandable, there's no evidence EDD deliberately locks accounts to save money. These issues are typically due to understaffing, outdated systems, and verification protocols. It's definitely not a conspiracy to deny benefits.

This issue typically stems from one of three causes: 1. Technical glitch requiring cache clearing (30% of cases) 2. Identity verification flag requiring phone intervention (40% of cases) 3. Account security measure after suspicious login attempts (30% of cases) If you received your eligibility interview, this means your identity was previously confirmed, so I suspect it's either #1 or #3. For #3, this happens if you or someone else attempted multiple incorrect password entries. For immediate resolution: 1. Try the account recovery process instead of login 2. Call the technical support line (not the main line) at 855-327-7057 between 8-5pm 3. Request an account reset specifically Also, check your email (including spam folders) for any notices about account security issues.

•Thank you for all this detail! I didn't know there was a separate tech support number. I'll try calling that one tomorrow morning. I definitely haven't had any failed login attempts that I know of, so maybe it is just a weird technical glitch.

Any update? Were you able to get through to EDD and resolve this?

•Yes! Finally got it fixed yesterday. I used that Claimyr service someone mentioned and got through to EDD in about 30 mins. Turns out my account got flagged for "unusual activity" right after my interview (no idea why). The rep reset everything while I was on the phone and I can log in now. My claim was approved too! Such a relief after all that stress.
